Happy Thanksgiving! The liturgy written especially for this holiday says that God's chosen people Israel "carried with them the promise that all men would be blessed and all men could be free…It has come to pass in every generation for all who have believed" in Jesus.
This weekend the Church observes the Feast of Christ the King. It is a feast that acknowledges that Jesus is Lord, not only of individuals, but of nations, empires, cultures, and the entire universe.
One of the activities citizens can carry out at election time is to become poll-watchers. This activity simply involves being present at the polling places on Election Day to insure that elections are conducted fairly, by watching the process by which people sign in at the polls.
In an interview with Priests for Life at the Vatican, Cardinal John Foley, who used to head the Pontifical Council for Social Communications, made the following comment about our obligation to vote:

The Supreme Court has again made a wrong decision regarding abortion.
The Roe vs Wade decision that legalized abortion also said that states should see to it that the procedure is carried out in safe facilities, by qualified physicians.
It continues to be clear that this year’s presidential election will be very contentious and very consequential.
