Talofa,  Ma’lelei’i, Bula and welcome to Season 4 Episode 44 of Breakfast Bites,  by TeivovoSports.com – a wrap of Pasifika Peoples sports on a beautiful  Tuesday morning 14 February 2023, coming to you from paradise on the  180th meridian in the middle of the Pacific Ocean! In Rugby – Mosese  Tuipulotu, the younger bro of breakout Scotland and Glasgow Warriors  Centre – Sione Tuipolotu - also a Centre, is earning rave reviews  in Australia for his performances in pre-season games for the NSW  Waratahs. Gregor Townsend,  the Scotland Head Coach, had been keeping tabs on the youngster but the  22-year-old has come out and emphatically declared for the Wallabies. The  bros qualify for Tonga, Australia and Scotland thanks to their maternal  grandmother from Greenock, Jaqueline Thomson, who emigrated to  Australia and married a Mr. Tuipulotu. In rugby league – “Yeah  it was great to see him do that .. he has been well coached,” Kevin  Walters said with a big grin on his dial when asked about Selwyn Cobbo’s  Aussie All Stars performance where he scored three tries for the win  against the NZ Maori in Rotorua last weekend. Gun  Storm Centre and Papua New Guinea Kumuls superstar, Justin Olam could  be sidelined for up to six weeks and miss the first three weeks of the  NRL regular season, depending on the severity of his fractured arm. Craig  Bellamy’s side was hampered with injuries in 2022, with Christian  Welch, Reimis Smith and George Jennings all suffering season-ending  injuries. In football – Key  Premier League games this week: Today Liverpool versus Everton at  Anfield and Arsenal versus Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium on  Thursday, and in La Liga today Espanyol versus Royal Sociedad at RCDE  Stadium and Real Madrid versus Elche at Santiago Bernabeau Stadium on  Thursday. In boxing – while  Alexander Volkanovski lost, earlier on the UFC284 card, Aussie fighters  Jack Jenkins, Jamie Mullarkey, Josh Culibao, Justin Tafa and Jack Della  Maddalena all won, with Maddalena showing why he’s considered the next  big thing in UFC with another first round win over Randy Brown. In  Super Bowl – it was heartbreak for Australian-Samoan, Jordan Mailata  who was only a few minutes away from glory, with the scores level at  35-all when a crucial holding penalty saw Kansas City Chiefs kick the  field goal for a 38-35 win over the Philadelphia Eagles with just eight  seconds left on the clock. Talofa,  Ma’lelei’i, Bula and welcome to Season 4 Episode 43 of Breakfast Bites,  by TeivovoSports.com – a wrap of Pasifika Peoples sports on a hazy but  bright Monday morning 13 February 2023, coming to you from paradise on  the 180th meridian in the middle of the Pacific Ocean ! In  Rugby – England beat Italy 14-31 in the Six Nations overnight to give  new Head Coach, Steve Borthwick his first win in the job, but many,  including former England and British & Irish Lions boss man, Sir  Clive Woodward called it boring. Fiji plays England at Twickenham before  Rugby World Cup 2023 later this year. In  rugby league – Papua New Guinea Kumul, Robert Derby and Fijian Wing,  Ilaitia Moceidreke scored two tries each for the Cowboys, but the  Dolphins performed admirably in their first competitive NRL game,  finishing level with the Cowboys at 22-22 in Cairns at the final  whistle. But fans were asking, where is Wayne? In  football – Southampton sacked their Manager Jones after only three  months and 14 games in the role as they slumped to another loss at the  bottom of the English Premier League pile. In  boxing – in an early contender for UFC Fight of the Year, Australia’s  reigning UFC Featherweight King, and a 4/1 underdog, almost caused one  of the greatest upsets in UFC history. Alexander Volkanovski started  slow, rallied, dropped his rival Islam Makachev, survived his chokes and  then stormed home in the fifth – only to lose 48-47, 48-47 and 49-46 on  the Judges cards. In  Super Bowl – for the first time ever, Super Bowl LVII will be the first  NFL championship contested in a legal betting state - Arizona and with a  Sportsbook agency just outside State Farm Stadium. Experts expect over  50 million Americans to wager more than US$16Billion on the game. TV  commercials have become one of the most highly anticipated parts of a  Super Bowl broadcast. The first 30-second Ad for Super Bowl I cost  US$42,500, in-game Ads first cracked the US$1Million mark in 1995. Over  the years those TV Ads have spiraled to US$7M for the first Ad in  today’s game. With  young Quarterbacks Jalen Hurts and Patrick Mahomes going head-to-head  and pop superstar Rihanna headlining the halftime show, Fox Sports’  telecast of the Philadelphia Eagles vs. Kansas City Chiefs could become  the most watched Super Bowl ever later today. Go Eagles Go Mailata Go! Talofa, Malo’lele’i, Bula and welcome to Season 4 Episode 42 of Breakfast Bites, by TeivovoSports.com – a wrap of Pasifika Peoples sports on a hazy but bright Sunday morning 12 February 2023, coming to you from paradise on the 180th meridian in the middle of the Pacific Ocean! In Rugby – Ireland underlined their status as the world’s top ranked team, as they overwhelmed world number two and defending champions, France 19-32 earlier today in Dublin, in a fantastic Six Nations Test that absolutely lived up to its billing, delivering wonderful tries and relentless skill. In rugby league – the Australian Indigenous side won their first All Stars clash 28-24 against New Zealand Maori,  since 2019, thanks to a Selwyn Cobbo hat-trick and a red-hot performance from Nicho Hynes. The annual clash, which was played in Rotorua, New Zealand was launched with passionate challenges which flowed on after kick-off. The New Zealand Maori in particular delivered a fierce Haka which they probably spent too much time rehearsing because they ultimately lost. In football – big spenders Chelsea drew 1-1 with West Ham and Brentford held EPL leaders, Arsenal to a one all draw at the Emirates overnight. Meanwhile, Captain Wissam Ben Yedder's first-half double and assist helped Monaco 3-1 PSG, who were without Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi in Ligue 1. In boxing – is UFC284 in Perth later today the start of an Australian fighting revolution, led by Alexander Volkanovski, Tim Tszyu  and other boxing and MMA fighters, among them: Jai Opetaia, Justis Huni, Liam Wilson, Sam Goodman, Jimmy Crute, Jack Della Maddalena and Paulo Aokuso? In Sportsbiz – ADIDAS expects to lose US$1.3Billion in revenue and nearly US$534Million in operating profit this year after ending their relationship with rapper Kanye West in October 2022 over his anti-semitic comments on social media. The problem stems from not selling the existing stock. In the NFL – among all the star-studded and beer Ads on TV, plus a whole lot of football, this year’s Super Bowl watchers in the US are being taken to church literally. “He Gets Us,” a campaign to promote Jesus and Christianity, is running two 30-seconds TV Ads at an average cost of US$6Million each during Super Bowl LVII. The campaign portrays Jesus as an immigrant, a refugee, a radical, an activist for women’s rights and a bulwark against racial injustice and political corruption. “Whatever you are facing, Jesus faced it too,” the campaign claims. Well what can I say except, “Hallelujah and amen”! Malo and welcome to Season 4 Episode 41 of Breakfast Bites, by TeivovoSports.com – a wrap of Pasifika Peoples sports on a cloudy Saturday morning 11 February 2023, coming to you from paradise on the 180th meridian in the middle of the Pacific Ocean ! In Rugby – crack Fijian Centre, Semi Radradra announced yesterday that he is joining Top 14 French Club, Lyon on a two-year deal starting 01 July. Wily Bristol Bears Director of Rugby, Pat Lam is well prepared for life without Radradra, unveiling the signing of Fijian Drua midfielder, Kalaveti Ravouvou earlier this week. In rugby league – Storm enforcer Tui Kamikamica has signed a two-year extension which will see him remain in Melbourne until at least the end of the 2025 season. He made his NRL debut in 2017, and has played 70 NRL games in the famous purple jersey, and Kamikamica has also played 17 Tests for Fiji. In football – Qatar’s ruler, Sheikh Tamim bin amad Al-Thani, is interested in buying Manchester United, just months after the energy-rich Gulf state hosted the FIFA World Cup. The emir bought French champions Paris Saint-Germain in 2011, meaning a full buyout of Man U would not be permitted under current UEFA regulations. In boxing – “This is a big fight. Islam is saying that I won’t be able to handle his power. I love people doubting me. I prove them wrong all the time and I’ll do it again Sunday,” UFC284 in Perth this Sunday between the UFC Featherweight Champion Alexander Volkanovski speaking there, versus Islam Makhachev the reigning UFC Lightweight Champion – bring it on baby. In the NFL – it is just the latest chapter in Jordan Mailata’s self-described “Hollywood movie”, which saw the 25-year-old turn down A$5,000 reserve grade deal from South Sydney to chase a different dream. Now he is one of the NFL’s best offensive tackles, rewarded with a four-year, US$64Million contract extension back in 2021. The Aussie-Samoan Philadelphia Eagles Rookie superstar, Mailata used to skip school to watch the Super Bowl at home in Sydney, but “mainly for the halftime show”. What a blast – Go Mailata Go Eagles Go. Malo  and welcome to Season 4 Episode 40 of Breakfast Bites, by  TeivovoSports.com – a wrap of Pasifika Peoples sports on a bright but  slightly cloudy Friday morning 10 February 2023, coming to you from  paradise on the 180th meridian in the middle of the Pacific Ocean  ! And  we start in the NBA – ticket prices at Crypto.com Arena for today’s  game between the Los Angeles Lakers and Milwaukee Bucks have plummeted  after Lebron James broke the NBA scoring record in LA on Tuesday. Courtside seats were going for a crazy US$68,995 a pop for this game and maybe some were even sold. Tickets  for the game Wednesday in which LeBron James actually broke Kareem  Abdul-Jabbar’s all-time NBA scoring record of 38,387 points went through  the roof before tip-off, with some courtside tickets selling for over  US$48,400. In  Rugby – We start with a warning to the Fiji Rugby Union: Because of his  breakout performances week-after-week in Super Rugby last year, where  Vinaya Habosi set the Australian competition on fire with his sheer  speed, powerful running and outrageous tries, several NRL Clubs are  already trying to make contact. Wayne Bennett’s Dolphins have made it clear they are interested in signing a flyer. Could it be Habosi? In rugby league – the  NRL’s pre-season kicked off in New Zealand last night where the NZ  Warriors new-look side hammered Benji Marshall’s Wests Tigers 12-48 at  Mt Smart Stadium, with off-season recruit, Luke Metcalf and hat-trick  hero and Fiji Bati flyer, Marcelo Montoya impressing. In  football - Harry Kane’s strike at home earlier this week, sealed a 1-0  win against Man City and took him past Jimmy Greaves as Tottenham’s  all-time record scorer of 267 goals. Meanwhile,  Marseille has sent PSG crashing out of the French Cup with a 2-1 upset  at Stade Velodrome. It is only their second win in their last 27  meetings with PSG. In  the NFL – Aussie-Samoan Philadelphia Eagles Rookie superstar, Jordan  Mailata says that he used to skip school to watch the Super Bowl at home  in Sydney, but “mainly for the halftime show”. The  young Mailata could never have envisaged he would one day be playing in  one of them, but the hulking former South Sydney Rabbitoh is now  reveling in the excitement of the biggest sporting event on the US  calendar. On Super Bowl Sunday, Mailata has the task of protecting superstar Quarterback, Jalen Hurts against the Kansas City Chiefs. In  boxing – UFC284 in Perth this Sunday is shaping up to be a really big  event, with a sold-out stadium and pay-per-view sales smoking. The  experts are tipping reigning UFC Lightweight Champion, and feared wrestler, Islam Makhachev to smother Aussie UFC Featherweight Champion Alexander Volkanovski on the floor. Wanna bet? Malo and welcome to Season 4 Episode 39 of Breakfast Bites, by TeivovoSports.com – a wrap of Pasifika Peoples sports on a bright but slightly cloudy Thursday morning 09 February 2023, coming to you from paradise on the 180th meridian in the middle of the Pacific Ocean!  And we start in the NBA – all hail King James! LeBron James has claimed the NBA’s all-time regular season scoring record, arguably the greatest individual record in basketball, on a historic night at home in LA against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar held the record since 1984, when he passed another legend in Wilt Chamberlain. James started the game needing 36 points to overtake Abdul-Jabbar’s record of 38,387 NBA points, and had 20 points at halftime before exploding for 16 points in the third quarter. He sealed the record with a trademark fade-away 20-foot shot with 10.2 seconds remaining in the third period, taking him to 38,388 points in front of a Los Angeles crowd that stood as one. History! In BREAKING Rugby News – “Bula” is how Scott “Razor” Robertson greeted a One News team in Christchurch yesterday after they had asked him about his Coaching future. While Razor revealed nothing about a possible gig taking the Flying Fijians to France in September, he said that he had been told good news by NZRFU and an official announcement from them “was imminent.” The NZRFU later directed prying journos to an earlier statement effectively denying that. So what can we read into all this? Why “Bula” Razor? Maybe he just said so to Sevu Reece or George Bower and so said it again? Maybe Razor was sending a cryptic signal to his Fiji fans – who knows? What is obvious is, that the New Zealand media are clueless about Razor’s interest in a short-term, one-off Flying Fijians gig to the Rugby World Cup in France in September, because his “Bula” just went straight over their heads. And think about it - the NZRFU had to deny what Robertson said yesterday about an “imminent” announcement, out of respect to the incumbent All Blacks Coach, Ian “Fuzzy” Foster. Fingers crossed the NZRFU does not block Razor’s ambitions. In rugby league – Fiji Bati and former Panthers star, Viliame Kikau won’t feature for the Bulldogs as the NRL Pre-season Challenge kicks off this weekend, but Josh Reynolds makes his return, partnering Kyle Flanagan in the halves, while another star recruit, Reed Mahoney will start at Hooker. The Melbourne Storm take on the Sydney Roosters in Geelong in the A$100,000 NRL Pre-season Challenge this weekend, with Reimis Smith and Christian Welch making their long-awaited returns from injury, joined of course by star Papua New Guinea Kumuls Centre, Justin Olam. In boxing – UFC Featherweight Champion, mad Aussie, Alexander Volkanovski is ready to go after a Conor McGregor superfight after he knocks out reigning UFC Lightweight Champion, and feared Dagestani wrestler, Islam Makhachev this Sunday in UFC284 in Perth, saying “Who gives a f… what he’s done?” In Sportsbiz only in the USA – Courtside tickets for the game in LA yesterday in which LeBron James broke Kareem Abdul-Jabar’s all-time NBA scoring record, went through the roof before tip-off, selling for as much as US$48,403 a pop. The average ticket price for the game hit US$1,230 — like four times more expensive than the average purchase price for a Lakers home game this season at US$251. Malo  and welcome to Season 4 Episode 38 of Breakfast Bites, by  TeivovoSports.com – a wrap of Pasifika Peoples sports on another  beautiful blue sky morning 08 February 2023, coming to you from  paradise on the 180th meridian in the middle of the Pacific Ocean ! John O'Connor the CEO of the Fiji Rugby Union has resigned despite speculation on  social media linking his departure from rugby house in Suva to the  recent change of government in Fiji.  This is simply not true. Word from Fiji Rugby union insiders say O'Connor resigned for personal health reasons. His replacement will be known in 6 to 8 weeks in rugby league. The mother of Broncos Star Payne Haas has been gaoled, but not for the  car crash on the Gold Coast that killed three people as she was trying  to evade police on 30th December. That case is still to go to court. Uiatu 'Joan' Taufua was on parole at the time of the  crash for violently assaulting and spitting on to star casino bounces in  September last year, for which he had served one month of a nine month  sentence in gaol before being granted parole. The nature of her involvement in the deadly car crash was deemed to be a  breach of her parole, prompting police to put her back behind bars. Boy, this woman needs help. In tennis World number one Carlos Alcaraz has withdrawn from the  Australian Open after suffering another injury blow. The 19 year old has  had his 22 season curtailed by an abdominal tear, but the Spaniard  revealed on his social media channels he has now sustained sustained an  injury to a muscle in his right leg. I worked so hard to get to my best  level for Australia but unfortunately I won't be able to play in the  Australian Open, he posted. And in football, if ever there was a fixed match, this is it.  In one of  the most incredible finishes to imagine a league history in Australia,  Sydney FC lost one nil to nine men Wellington Phoenix from New Zealand  after incredibly missing two penalties in stoppage time following a  series of bizarre refereeing decisions. My goodness, football in Australia seems to be falling apart and only in  the US Donna Whites new show power slap where two fighters slap each  other in the face until one gives up and the other is declared. The winner is, uh, not surprisingly, being delayed. Well, what do you expect? After TMZ uploaded a video shot by a bystander at a nightclub in Cabo  Mexico on New Year's Eve, showing U F C praise White, slapping his wife  in the face twice. My goodness, do you think he did it to promote the show? Malo  and welcome to Season 4 Episode 37 of Breakfast Bites, by  TeivovoSports.com – a wrap of Pasifika Peoples sports on another  beautiful blue sky Tuesday morning 07 February 2023, coming to you from  paradise on the 180th meridian in the middle of the Pacific Ocean ! In rugby – an  unconfirmed report emerging out of rugby media in France overnight says  that former France Coach, Bernard Laporte has turned down a request to  Coach the Flying Fijians. More  recently, Laporte has been convicted for corruption by a French Court  and has had to step down as vice-chairman of World Rugby while he  appeals his conviction. Fiji already has enough crooks and conmen, so why would they want to add to . . . never mind. Meanwhile, the Fiji Rugby Union hopes to hear back from Scott Razor Robertson later today. Former  All Blacks and NRL star, Sonny Bill Williams has ignited a storm of  controversy on social media and been labeled “transphobic” for backing a  comment from a woman who “thanked God” her parents wouldn’t let her get  a sex change when she was 12 years old. The woman, a Dutch doctor is anti-vaccine and pro-Donald Trump! In rugby league – Latrell  Mitchell and Jack Wighton made the trip to New Zealand for the first  All Stars game in New Zealand, to be played at Rotorua International  Stadium, between the NZ Māori and the Australian Indigenous All Stars  side this Saturday 11 February. NZ Māori won last year's All Stars game with a hard-fought 16-10 victory in Sydney. In boxing – Aussie battler, Liam  Wilson says Emanuel Navarrete has agreed to a rematch for the WBO Super  Featherweight World title, potentially in Australia, if the Mexican  superstar’s controversial win is declared a ‘No Contest’. Team Wilson has lodged protests with both the WBO and the Arizona State Boxing Commission. In  football – Man City has been charged by the Premier League with over  100 breaches of financial regulations across nine seasons, from 2009 to  2018 including breaching UEFA financial fair play rules and failing to  co-operate with the investigation since December 2018. Since  the Abu Dhabi-based ownership group took over in 2008 City has won six  out of 10 English Premier League titles stretching from 2011 through to  the 2021-2022 season. In  Sportsbiz – last year, the NFL Pro Bowl fell to its lowest TV  viewership since 2006. But as low as this was, the 2022 Pro Bowl still  averaged 6.7 million viewers —  that’s more than the NHL’s Stanley Cup Final, which averaged 4.6  million viewers last year and more than the NBA All-Stars Game at 6.3  million viewers. Finally this morning, we tip our caps to Philadelphia Eagles Assistant Coach, Autumn Lockwood set to become the first Black woman — and fourth woman ever — to coach in a Super Bowl. Malo  and welcome to Season 4 Episode 36 of Breakfast Bites, by  TeivovoSports.com – a wrap of Pasifika Peoples sports on another  beautiful blue sky Monday morning 06 February 2023, coming to you from  paradise on the 180th meridian in the middle of the Pacific Ocean! In rugby – the  whole of Fiji is waiting on news from New Zealand today: Will the Kiwis  help Fiji out and allow one of their best and a favourite future All  Blacks Head Coach, Scott Robertson to lead the Flying Fijians to the  Rugby World Cup in France in September? Only time will tell. In  rugby league – BREAKING NEWS: NRL star and budding TV pundit, Latrell  Mitchell had to seek medical assistance after four policemen pinned him  to the ground and arrested him around 4am yesterday morning, outside a  Canberra nightclub in “a friendly wrestle” with fellow player and good  mate, Jack Wighton, who was celebrating his 30th birthday. Mitchell needs to pass a fitness test to play in the All Stars game now, so that will probably see him gone as well. Meanwhile,  Nelson Asofa-Solomona and Dallin Watene-Zelezniak have become the  latest big names to pull out of this year’s All Stars game. “Unfortunately I’m not physically ready to play in such an intensive  game in the pre-season,” Asofa-Solomona said. So NZ Maori have named  Tukimihia Simpkins, Leo Thompson, Paul Turner, Austin Dias, Creedence  Toia and Sheldon Pitama to replace Lord Nelson. In  boxing – according to UFC Prez Dana White, UFC284 headlined by the  massive title fight between Islam Makhachev and Alexander Volkanovski  will surpass all expectations and could even break the all-time UFC  pay-per-view record set by UFC229: King Khabib vs Connor McGregor, which  had 2.4 million PPV sold. In  football - Mikel Arteta urged Arsenal to dig deep after a shock 1-0  defeat at Everton, dented the Premier League leaders’ title bid, while  Liverpool’s troubled season hit a new low with a woeful 3-0 loss at  Wolves. Arsenal still leads second placed Manchester City by five  points, because the champions lost to Tottenham 1-0 earlier this  morning. In Sportsbiz – Super Bowl in-game 30-secs advertising spots hit  the US$1Million mark in 1995. This year, advertisers will pay US$7M for  those coveted Super Bowl LVII spots on 12 February. Get  this - the FTX cryptocurrency Ad in the halftime slot of Super Bowl LVI  in 2022 stands alone as the biggest flop of all time: It starred Larry  David in the final scene saying to an actor presenting him with FTX.  “Eh, I don’t think so. And I’m never wrong about this stuff.” Ha ha – Karma, what a thing of beauty! Malo  and welcome to Season 4 Episode 35 of Breakfast Bites, by  TeivovoSports.com – a wrap of Pasifika Peoples sports on another  beautiful blue sky Sunday morning 05 February 2023, coming to you from  paradise on the 180th meridian in the middle of the Pacific Ocean ! In rugby – Pacific  Island Tests for the July window will see in the Pacific Nations Cup  running from 22nd July to 5th August this year: Fiji vs Tonga in Suva,  Fiji vs Samoa in Apia and Fiji vs Japan in Tokyo. Our guess is, that Samoa and Tonga will also play Japan and do battle on the same day Fiji plays Japan. Meanwhile  with the Flying Fijians new-coach situation: Scott Robertson cannot  take on the Flying Fijians job fulltime until after the Super Rugby  Pacific comp finishes. He will however be here for those PNC Tests, plus  hopefully have a fulltime assistant coach working with our boys in  Europe and more importantly those players in the Fijian Drua. In  rugby league – Brisbane Broncos star Payne Haas admits it has been  “really tough” not being able to see or speak to his Mother, Uiatu  ‘Joan’ Taufua who is the only survivor from a car crash in December in  which three people were killed. “It’s been really tough. Haas says: “I’m a mummy’s boy.” In  boxing – Australia’s Liam Wilson says a “27 second count” after his big  knock down of Mexican superstar Emanuel Navarrete in the fourth round  in the USA yesterday, robbed him of the WBO World Super Featherweight  title. So the promoters are launching an immediate protest after the Queenslander was stopped in the ninth round. In  football Sportsbiz – Chelsea’s world record investment in the transfer  market flopped big time yesterday as the Blues were held 0-0 at home by  Fulham. The most expensive player in EPL history, Enzo Fernandez, plus  Mykhailo Mudryk, Noni Madueke and David Datro Fofana all made their  Chelsea debut at Stamford Bridge for naught. Malo  and welcome to Season 4 Episode 33 of Breakfast Bites, by  TeivovoSports.com – a wrap of Pasifika Peoples sports on another  beautiful blue sky Friday morning 03 February 2023, coming to you from  paradise on the 180th meridian in the middle of the Pacific Ocean!  Love  you Dad . In  rugby – the Fiji Rugby Union dropped a bomb yesterday, firing Flying  Fijians Head Coach Vern Cotter, and kindly dressing it up as a  resignation just 7 months out from the Rugby World Cup in France. The  BIG question is – who will replace him? While a number of names have  popped up like Dave Rennie and Simon Raiwalui, the inside word is that  the Crusaders whiz, Scott Robertson is the man! In NBA Sportsbiz – Michael  Jordan likely made more than double his total career NBA salary  earnings in 2022 alone — thanks to his 1984 rookie year licensing deal  with Nike where his Airness pockets 5% of Nike’s Jordan Brand sales,  which in 2022 was equal to US$5.1Billion, so a handy  US$256.1Million commission. In rugby league – The  Broncos’ most important player is no doubt Adam Reynolds, but to  maximise his ability, he needs a talented halves partner. Who - Ezra Mam  or Tyson Gamble? Tom  Gilbert flew under the radar for the Cowboys in 2022 and was rewarded  with an Origin III game, but the 22-year-old left for the Dolphins in  the off-season. Souths  have one of the most prolific try-scorers on one Wing in Alex Johnston,  with Izack Thompson, Richard Kennar and Taane Milne fighting for the  other spot. In boxing – Australia’s Liam Wilson is an eight to one underdog, and as wide as twenty to one with some US bookies for his WBO World Title fight against superstar Mexican champion,  Emanuel Navarrete in Saturday’s WBO Super Featherweight showdown in  Glendale, Arizona USA. In football – the January 2023 EPL transfer deadline  Day is over. The final, frantic, 24 hours in the transfer window has  come and gone, with the Top 5 biggest spenders: 1. Malo and welcome to Season 4 Episode 32 of Breakfast Bites, by TeivovoSports.com – a wrap of Pasifika Peoples sports on another beautiful blue sky Thursday morning 02 February 2023, coming to you from paradise on the 180th meridian in the middle of the Pacific Ocean!  In the NBA – LeBron James scored a 28-point triple-double as the Los Angeles Lakers dug deep to score a 129-123 overtime win against the New York Knicks on Tuesday.  James is now just 89 points away from surpassing the great Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the NBA’s all-time leading points scorer after another superb performance in his 20th season.  The 38-year-old passed two more milestones on Tuesday as he secured the third triple double of his career at Madison Square Garden. James finished with 28 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists, moving him ahead of both Mark Jackson and Steve Nash into fourth on the all-time rankings for assists. At his current rate of scoring, King James is on target to pass Abdul-Jabbar’s mark of 38,387 points next Tuesday when the Lakers host the Oklahoma City Thunder.  In rugby league – The Daily Telegraph’s Coaches Survey 2023 of more than 20 NRL Coaches and Assistant Coaches reveals a stark lack of support for the Pride Round in support of the LGBTQ+ community, with only 33 per cent of the Coaches surveyed supporting the concept.  In the NFL – there’s nothing like a rematch. CBS Sports’ coverage of Sunday’s AFC Championship Game was the most-watched TV program since Super Bowl LVI. The thriller, which saw the Chiefs beat the Bengals by a field goal, drew 53.1 million television viewers In Sportsbiz – Super Bowl LVII on 12 February between the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona could see the most bets for any U.S. sports event ever; projected to take in more than US$1.1Billion in bets at legal betting agencies across the US. In boxing – despite being critically panned, Dana White’s Power Slap League will move forward on pay-per-view with the Power Slap finals airing live from Las Vegas on 11 March in four different weight classes - heavyweight, light heavyweight, middleweight, and welterweight.  In football – Deadline Day is over. The final, frantic, 24 hours in the English Premier League transfer window has come and gone, with Man U signing Bayern Munich midfielder Marcel Sabitzer because Christian Eriksen is set to miss the most of the rest of the season with an ankle injury. PSG was left fuming after Hakim Ziyech’s loan move from Chelsea was put in jeopardy and potentially off all together after Chelsea failed to submit the paperwork on time. Arsenal bolstered their midfield stocks with a US$14.7Million deal with Chelsea for Brazilian star, Jorginho on an 18-month contract with the EPL leaders.  And we finish with some absolutely crazy rugby union news – the Welsh Rugby Union – which has recently been hit by sexism and discrimination allegations, has banned choirs from singing the popular Tom Jones hit ‘Delilah’ during their performances on Test match-days at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, because the song’s lyrics include reference to a woman being murdered by her jealous partner.  My my my Delilah!  For TeivovoSports.com I’m Culden Kamea - Mahalo, vina’a and thank you – please hit the subscribe button below if you would like to receive more Pasifika sports highlights on Breakfast Bites. Malo  and welcome to Season 4 Episode 31 of Breakfast Bites, by  TeivovoSports.com – a wrap of Pasifika Peoples sports on another  beautiful blue sky Wednesday morning 01 February 2023, coming to you  from paradise on the 180th meridian in the middle of the Pacific Ocean ! And we start with rugby – a simple observation of the Fiji Men’s 7s games in the Hamilton and  Sydney 7s is that they were beaten badly when it counted - in the  playoffs against Argentina and South Africa respectively. All the other  wins are a given for any good side. Me thinks some urgent changes need to be made. Meanwhile,  based on their performance in Sydney, where they beat several HSBC  World Rugby 7s Series regulars in Canada, Japan and Kenya, and just lost  to Hamilton 7s winners Argentina, the invitational team to the Sydney  7s last weekend, Tonga should be invited to more HSBC 7s tournaments. In  rugby league – there are growing calls to move mid-year Tests so  players from Tier 2 nations like Samoa, Tonga, Fiji and Papua New Guinea  don’t have to choose between playing for their country or their state. NSW Blues Coach Brad Fittler says players should not be punished for representing their family heritage. In Sportsbiz – this year’s Australian Open featured a record A$52.8Million prize money. Aryna Sabalenka won a record A$2.1M for capturing her first Grand Slam title with a win over Elena Rybakina, who pocketed $1.2M. In  boxing – brash American fighter from Detroit and former world champion,  Tony Harrison (29-3, 21KO), boldly declares that he sees “nothing  special” in Tim Tszyu (21-0, 15KO) ahead of their upcoming fight  scheduled for 12 March down under. Harrison is the only man to defeat undisputed World Champion, Jermell Charlo. In  football – in yet another sign of the growing popularity of women’s  sport globally, the Australian Matildas’ FIFA World Cup opener against  Ireland in July has been moved to Accor Stadium Sydney to accommodate  40,000 more fans than Allianz Stadium, which holds just over 45,000  spectators. Deadline  Day is over. The final, frantic, 24 hours in the English Premier League  transfer window has come and gone, with Chelsea the biggest spender,  stumping up US$343Million in total, which was also the most spent by any  one EPL Club in a single window ever, according to Sky Sports. Chelsea  landed their seventh signing as American owner Todd Boehly continues to  go nuts splashing the cash American style, six months after taking  over. Go Chelsea go! Malo  and welcome to Season 4 Episode 30 of Breakfast Bites, by  TeivovoSports.com – a wrap of Pasifika Peoples sports on another  beautiful blue sky Tuesday morning 31 January 2023, coming to you from  paradise on the 180th meridian in the middle of the Pacific Ocean ! In rugby – BREAKING NEWS: Campbell Johnson, three-Test All Black Prop number 1056,  has come out publicly as gay, saying he had been “living a lie and  leading a double life” during his playing days which also included 38  games for the mighty Crusaders in Super Rugby. He said that he was coming out now to help other gay athletes struggling in the closet. In  rugby league – former NRL star, Jarryd Hayne will face a third trial  for sexually assaulting a woman on 6 March. The first trial in Newcastle  in late 2020 ended in a hung jury and his second trial conviction was  later quashed and a retrial ordered by the New South Wales Court of  Criminal Appeal. In Sportsbiz – in 2013, the NFL agreed to a US$1Billion settlement with former players over concussions. In July last year, the NFL distributed its last payments toward the settlement after pocketing US$18B in revenue in 2021. So what’s next in this ongoing compensation case for players? In  boxing – UFC great Khabib Nurmagomedov — who has left the sport to  spend more time with family, also known as King Khabib has been replaced  by a huge support crew of 14 staff to aid Islam Makhachev in his final  camp preparations for UFC284 Down Under against Russian superstar  Alexander Volkanovski. What a mouthful of names! In  football – Liverpool’s disastrous season suffered another blow on  Sunday as the holders were dumped out the FA Cup by a 2-1 defeat at  Brighton. Liverpool had led at the Amex through Harvey Elliott, but they  have now won just once in their last six games.
