 Everyone Is Searching For Purpose | LAYC52 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 14:39

A seed was incubating in my thoughts for more than a decade. Rooted in my experience as a single teen mom, I dreamt of creating communities for girls without support or financial means, and establishing residential and education centers for them. They would become stakeholders of sustainable communities. They would lift each other as they climbed. My audacious vision provided everything they needed for their health and safety, education, personal development, financial autonomy, and networks for a joy filled life. As I dared to dream bigger, I pictured each small, self-sustaining centers becoming part of an expanding global network, with reciprocity and cultural exchanges. I believe the more we know and understand about each other, the more we will embrace and celebrate our diversity and uniqueness. I am convinced the more we empower women and children by providing them the training, support, and confidence to raise their own tide level, all boats will rise, and the ripple will become a tsunami of love, well-being, collaboration, and celebration. When women do well, economies flourish, and peace spreads. I have nurtured this dream, allowing it to grow and flow “on my mental drawing board. I doodled models for housing and common areas, imagined types, of business that the girls would manage to create consistent, scalable income, and the teachers, speakers, and supporters that we would attract. I already know the name of the first community. It will be called ‘The Charlotte’ in honour of my mother. As more communities are opened around the world, each one will be a tribute to a woman who lifted others. Today, I am one rung higher on the ladder of making my dream a reality. What is your passion? How does your passion translate into your purpose? You are never too young or too old to uncover the answers. If you aren’t sure how to begin to write the script for your next and most fulfilling role in life, I am here to help you.  Lift Like Angela Lansbury | LAYC50 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 14:24

At the time of her death, Dame Angela Lansbury was one of the last surviving cinema stars from the Golden Age of Hollywood. Born in London, England in October 1925, she died October 11, 2022, in her Los Angles, California home, just 5 days before her ninety-seventh birthday. Per Wikipedia: In 2013, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Board of Governors voted to bestow upon her an Honorary Academy Award for her lifetime achievements in the industry. . . . and presented her with the Oscar, saying in part "Angela has been adding class, talent, beauty, and intelligence to the movies ever since" her film debut in 1944. The Oscar statue is inscribed "To Angela Lansbury, an icon who has created some of cinema's most memorable characters inspiring generations of actors". With more than seventy-five years of diverse and prolific roles on TV, stage, and screen, one of the most known to Baby Boomers, and one of my favorites, was her role as Jessica Fletcher in Murder, She Wrote. “I want women my age to be represented the way they are, which is vital, productive members of society.” ~ Angela Lansbury How do you want to be remembered? Ways to Be More Like Angela 1. Have fun solving the mysteries of life. 2. Understand being called a Dame has privileges and responsibilities. 3. Figure out what makes your eyes sparkle. Do more of that! 4. Age should not stop you from keeping on. 5. Accept awards, praise, and compliments graciously. 6. You are never too old to try a new role (or ride a bike!) 7. If you accept a role, play it well until it’s time to move on. 8. Know when it is time to move on and trust your knowing. 9. Choose your cast and crew carefully. Let the ones go that don’t support you to shine. 10. When you stand in the spotlight, you illuminate paths for others; that’s Lift As You Climb. You still have time to decide how you want to be remembered after you die. Write your own eulogy as your life plan and live your legacy. Get help with the free gift from Isabel

 Birthday Milestones and Encore Intentions | LAYC47 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 10:41

Three years – how is it possible this much could change? Three birthdays – how is it possible I could change this much? It’s been said that most people underestimate what they can accomplish in one year, and yet, they underestimated how much they can do in a decade. I have also heard a version of that statement that affirms we usually underestimate what we can do in just three years. History will record 2020, 2021, 2022 as the years of a Global Pandemic caused by a sneaky, shape-shifting virus nicknamed Corona. My history: or my #HERstory, as I like to say, will reflect diverse, significant, unanticipated, and challenging changes in my life during those three years. On the eve of my sixty-eighth birthday, I reflect on my evolution, growth, and changes during a very short period of my encore life. 2019 - I kicked off my 65th year with publishing a popular non-fiction work for women, Who Am I Now – Feminine Wisdom Unmasked Uncensored >>> LINK 2020 – I took my business coaching and personal transformation business online and around the world The Encore Catalyst and collaborated to create multiple online courses. 2021 – I started the Lift As You Climb Podcast, assumed leadership of Renegades Reinventing Facebook Group for professional women reinventing retirement on their own terms, moved to Canada, and filed for divorce. 2022 – I joined the burgeoning ranks of Gray Divorce, expanded my reach with more coaching and online knowledge programs, including Gray Divorce, No Remorse and the Gray Divorce Podcast (available Q3 -2022) 2023 – Plans are in motion already for an Audio Book and companion workbook. On my Vision Board are intentions for a TED Talk or TED X, and global speaking engagements to inspire others to Live Their Legacy! I only plan to retire from the things I no longer wish to do and do more of the things I want to do. I hope to never stop learning, evolving, transforming and reinventing. I love my ENCORE life and I am grateful for every birthday!

 Simple Acts of Kindness | LAYC46 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 18:36

Making a difference in someone’s day, week, or life could be as easy as a spontaneous, no cost gesture, or simple act of kindness. Making a lasting impression may not even be something that you think is significant. Think back over your life to the individuals that had a positive or uplifting impact that may not have realized how they influenced your thinking or set you on a different path entirely. Isn’t it amazing that you still recall those moments today? We don’t have to have millions in our bank account or start a profitable foundation. Every day, we can lift others with mindful awareness and connectedness. We can maximize our unique strengths and abilities to reach out and give an emotional hand up. We can mentor and build success ladders with intention and commitment. We lead by example and action. We set an example and create an energetic ripple of good deeds.

 Identity Liberated | LAYC45 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 20:15

A major obstacle to personal growth and life fulfillment is confusion and discomfort around who we are now. Letting go of the past identity, roles, and routines that we got used to, and purposefully, stretching to become a better, higher version of ourselves can be scary. In this episode, I share some reasons why I believe it is our responsibility and reward to continue to evolve and expand. Referenced, in part, in this episode, I am pleased to share the entire poem: “Our Greatest Fear It is our light not our darkness that most frightens us. Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” SOURCE: Return to Love by Marianne Williamson, Harper Collins, 1992

 Passion Unchanged | LAYC44 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 11:22

This is the launch of Season Two and an affirmation that my passion for this podcast and lifting and climbing is unchanged after a rocky year of personal upheaval and changes. At age 67, I divorced, uprooted my life of 10+years in Arizona, and moved back to my native Canada. I added to the rising statistics of Gray Divorce and Silver Splitting. I chose me, healthy relationships, personal fulfillment, and a desire to make a positive difference in the world around me during the decades to follow. I am reinventing and transforming once again. I share my unedited, unfiltered, in-real-time life as a Baby Boomer woman because I hope my experiences and learnings will help others on their transformation journeys.

 Irreconcilable Change | LAYC41 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 12:59

Merriam-Webster dictionary defines irreconcilable difference as the inability to agree on most things or important things. In my case, as for many ‘Grey Divorces’, that was the reason cited for the reason to end our marriage; irreconcilable differences. No fault, no blame, no list of shortcomings, broken promises, or unrealized dreams, no litany of annoying habits, no explanations, no defense - just two words; irreconcilable differences. No long-drawn-out court battle and big legal bills. No mudslinging or blame-gaming. We’d done enough of that in the preceding years and realized that accomplished nothing except deepening the rift in our relationship, and making others who loved us uncomfortable. Once we accepted that our marriage was no longer providing each of us what we wanted for who we are now, we could move forward as people who still cared about each other. We drew up our own settlement terms, consulted with CPAs and employed a mediation lawyer to file the court documents. We accomplished this in weeks, respectfully and co-operatively. Divorce is on the rise in my generation. Stay tuned over the next few weeks and months as I share from my experience of ‘conscious uncoupling’ and the many facets of change that lead into and through divorce. REFERENCES: "Gray divorce," also known as "silver splitter" or "diamond divorce," is a term used to refer to the increasing trend of late-in-life divorces. This term first became mainstream in 2004, when AARP published a study on divorce at "midlife and beyond," and is generally used to describe adults aged 50 or older who are going through a separation. In 2015, every 10 out of 1,000 couples aged 50 and over got divorced, which was double what their divorce rate had been in 1990. And for those over 65, the increase was even higher — it had roughly tripled in 25 years. In fact, while the overall rate of divorce has continually declined since then, the divorce rate of people over 50 is increasing. Why are older people getting divorced? One soon-to-be-divorced woman told me that she sees her life in chapters. And although she thought her current husband would be part of her life through all of them, she now wants to do some of the writing on her own, and perhaps, one day, with another partner. She means no harm to her husband, and wants to free him up to find true happiness in his next chapters as well. Couples aren't simply "drifting apart" over time anymore. One or both people in the marriage are making an overt choice to change course for the time they have left. And recognizing that life is short and precious, one or both partners choose what they feel is the most fulfilling path. They tend to believe that, if a marriage is not working for them, it really isn't working for their spouse either. So, they afford themselves the space to gain, or regain, happiness and fulfillment.  Grieving Change | LAYC39 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 26:35

Eyes wide shut. I refused to acknowledge the change that was coming at me like a freight train. I refused to take responsibility for my part in this change. I lied to myself that everything was just fine. Just a rough patch. Just temporary relationship growing pains. Not my idea. Not my choice. Not the right timing. Not the future I planned. Not the story I told myself. When change is thrust on you, you may react like a drowning woman, fighting, flailing, struggling to breathe between the gasps and sobs. It’s terrifying, dark, and cold. It feels like death. Been there, done that. Flailed and floundered, and at times, grabbing on to others, pulling them under with me. But finally, I realized I didn’t want to die or make others suffer through my tempest, and I stopped flailing. Strap on your life preserver and listen in as I share how I made it through the rough weather of being dumped by the man I loved, and how I became the storm. And while you are ‘weather-watching’, throw out a lifeline to friends who have been swamped by unwelcome, unhappy change and bring a little sunshine back to their lives.  Change Your Mind | LAYC38 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 14:36

Change Your Mind. Change Your Future. Change Your Attitude. Change Your Relationship. Change Your Relationship With Your Self. Change Your Paradigm. As women, we've been teased about changing our minds as easily as changing our hair color. The inference is, of course, that we make changes too easily, too often. I know this is not true. More often, we stay stuck with a choice, made with different expectations that are not or no longer realized. Change can be good. Change can be necessary. Change can be lifesaving - literally.
