SAPD Officer Edward Ramirez | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1646

SAPD Officer Edward Ramierz:I was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. I graduated from Robert E. Lee High School, Wayland Baptist University, and the United States Air Force ReservesMy major influence in my life was initially my dad; I didn't want to follow in his footsteps as he was a police officer and he divorced my mom at an early age. Afterward, it was/is my wife; she is my motivator to succeed, whether in life, college, the military, and the police departmentI chose to enter the military because I failed out of college and needed to get back on track with my life. I specifically chose the United States Air Force Reserves because it guaranteed a chance for me to do what I qualified for and more importantly, stay in San Antonio. While being married and raising two children, the biggest struggle I had to overcome was working a lot between the military and the police department. My faith continues to be challenged daily, but I continue to keep the faith. I still believe that we live in a society filled with great people who want to do the right thing. My advice to any up and coming youth who want to be leaders is to lead by example. I've adopted scripture in my leadership style. "Go Out and Lead, And When necessary, use words." Actions speak louder than words.Volunteer organizations - ACTS faith-based groups within my church to include the Young Adults and Men's Group. One specific Men's ACTS Group is the Shields of Christ.https://sapdcareers.com/

Jesse and Krystal Hamilton | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1646

Love. Compassion. Dedication. Loyalty. Excellence. These are just a few words that describe our character. As pastors and entrepreneurs, we have a restless discontent with the status quo. While it can be frustrating; it’s an essential gift in birthing what’s new and expanding our current mission. September 2019, we stepped on faith to build JustDogs34! It was an audacious venture that was completely God-lead. In a time where too many people are figuring out how to survive, we became people who changed the question: How are we going to thrive?  You can’t do that without risk. Being willing to risk what you have TODAY is the best way to get to a different TOMORROW.Jesse D.  SAPD Officer Cory Schuler | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1644

SAPD Officer Cory SchulerI was born in Austin, Texas. I was raised in a Christian home with both parents and 1 older brother. My dad is a pastor who always stressed the importance of having a relationship with God, loving your family, and getting an education. It appeared at times these were the basic foundations that shaped our future goals in life. My dad holds a Doctorate in Theology and has always strived to make a difference in the lives of others starting with my brother and me. We were always his pupils. My mother started her career at a law enforcement agency and at some point was put in charge of purchasing uniforms for the officers. So I spent a great deal of time after school in the supply store. I believe that is where I first took an interest in being a police officer, a typical little boy growing up with aspirations of being a police officer. When I was in middle school my parents moved to Leander. My love for sports ultimately afforded me the opportunity through scholarships to play football on a collegiate level. While away in college, my cousin had gotten in trouble with the law and I saw how it impacted my family. Later, my big brother had gotten into some trouble with the law and was unable to spend time with family during holidays and family gatherings. I felt the impact that had on me and my parents. After graduating from college, I sought out law enforcement. I met with a cousin who talked to me about becoming a police officer. He talked about the brotherhood, comradery, as well as benefits. So I joined the San Antonio Police Department. Being a police officer takes hard work and commitment. It requires long hours of training; it takes a genuine care for the human race. You must have a heart for the people because people will show you the best of who they are and they will show you the worst of who they are. This career provides you the opportunity to make the world a better place, street by street, block by block. It provides great benefits to take care of yourself and your family. I am proud to wear this uniform. I am proud to stand up and be counted among the men and women that make a difference in the lives of the citizens of San Antonio. I also have a responsibility to my family with the common goal to return home every night. I reconnected with a college teammate who later became one of my best friends. He started a nonprofit organization called “God Behind Bars”. “God Behind Bars” mission is to bridge a gap between God and inmates outside the church walls. God Behind Bars works with a couple of local churches and provides an opportunity for a relationship that would not exist otherwise. I have been privileged to walk along side of this organization and I have seen many lives changed because of it. https://sapdcareers.com/For more interviews visit: www.iamrefocusedradio.comPodcast Sponsors:Rockafellas Barber Shop San AntonioRico Rodriguez (Owner)www.facebook.com/Rockafellas-Barber-Shop-105026620034718/?ref=page_internal1733 BabcockSan Antonio, Texas 78229Phone: (210) 782-5188The Dear Agency specializes in helping you understand your coverage BEFORE you need it!We offer all lines of personal and commercial insurance, including Auto, Home and Life.Contact Dawn Dear at 210-507-2169 and visit us at 7529 N Loop 1604 in Live Oak, TX or farmersagent.com/ddear

Reverend Al Sharpton Talks New Book: 'Rise Up' | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 277

ABOUT THE REVEREND AL SHARPTON AND RISE UPNo matter where you fall on the political spectrum, the coming 2020 Presidential Election stands to be one of the most consequential in our nation's history. With the leading political parties diametrically opposed on the path forward and seemingly unwilling to compromise, November is a clear critical juncture for the future of America. IN what will be his seminal call to action, RISE UP: Confronting a Country at the Crossroads (Hanover Square Press; 9/29/20), the Reverend Al Sharpton draws on his decades of unique experience as a civil rights leader, a politician, and a television and radio host to encourage voters to stand up for what they believe and enact change in their country. Our nation today stands at a crossroads, a historical turning point that both tests our moral character and endangers all that we have fought to gain. If we are to preserve our sense of morality and build a clear and just path forward, we must not only take a hard look at our collective failures and shortcomings but also reclaim our core values. In RISE UP, Rev. Sharpton revisits the highlights of the Obama administration, the 2016 election, Trump's subsequent hold on the GOP and his interactions and relationships with other key players in politics and activism. He also amplifies the new voices and movements that have emerged in response to the Trump presidency, closing with an epilogue of the eulogy he delivered at Georgy Floyd's funeral.Rev Sharpton addresses:. The devastating effects of COVID-19, and how it has illuminated the stark inequities of our country - from racial disparities in wealth and health to a lack in federal leadership.. The "Latte Liberals" who seek to protect the status quo - and their own privilege - at the expense of actionable change.. The nascent and necessary rise of women in politics, the effects of toxic masculinity on the African American community and the power of the #MeToo movement.. The importance of LGBTQ+ rights and equality throughout the nation, intersectionalism, and the positive effect of acceptance within the black church community.. Immigration control and the moral responsibility Americans have to offer a safe harbor to those fleeing oppression.. Climate change, and the effects of pollution on predominantly black communities.' . How to be an activist, using the media and controversy to be heard.Rev. Sharpton's enduring ability and willingness to take on the political power structure makes him the preeminent voice for the modern era, a time unprecedented in its challenges. A profound examination of the American soul and a clarion call to action, RISE UP offers timeless lessons for anyone who's stood at the crossroads of their personal or political life, weighing their choice of how to proceed.ABOUT THE REVEREND AL SHARPTONRev. Al Sharpton is the host of MSNBC's "PoliticsNation" and the founder and President of the National Action Network (NAN), one of the leading civil rights organization in the world. Together, the family learns how to overcome heartbreak and uncertainty by holding tight to the most important aspects of life – family, friends, love and forgiveness. Inspired by the novel from Marci Henna, director Joanne Hock and screenplay writers Rick Eldridge and Jimmy Hager pack WHEN WE LAST SPOKE with humor, heartbreak and triumph. Audiences will leave the theater grateful for the gift of family, the relief of laughter and with a newfound appreciation for the often kooky relationships with friends and family.  “WHEN WE LAST SPOKE is a warm-hearted story that follows the life of a funny, quirky family who have experienced their fair share of trials,” says Rick Eldridge. “In partnership with Fathom Events, we are pleased to be bringing a film to theaters that speaks to the important topics of family, love and forgiveness.”Follow us on Facebook/Twitter @WhenWeLastSpoke, Instagram @whenwelastspokemovie and online at www.whenwelastspokemovie.comwww.firesidetexas.com/about.htmlFor more interviews visit: www.iamrefocusedradio.comRadio Sponsor: DOCUmation is a family-owned...
