The Good, The Bad, and The Sequel

This week I interviewed my 1st Casting Director and I couldn't have been luckier to have chatted with Glenn Daniels.  We reached out to Glenn for 2 of our earliest films, Caddyshack II and Police Academy 6, and I couldn't convince him to say "Yes", but after more emails not giving up, I finally convinced him.  I absolutely LOVED talking to Glenn and how he got started in Hollywood is a wild story. Plus hearing how he got actors like Stanley Tucci, Lisa Kudrow, Teri Hatcher, and Woody Harrelson.  I was also fascinated about how many movies that he has helped cast for that aren't on his IMDb.  We have been lucky enough to interview a lot of awesome people and Glenn is one of my favorites. We are starting our "2nd Annual Scary Sequel Month" with a not-so-scary movie, Scary Movie 4. This is our second spoof sequel and this one got a lot right. This week's bonus interview is EPIC. Not only is it the performance artist from my daughter's favorite show, "Sid the Science Kid", but it's also someone who is part of the Star Wars universe, Misty Rosas. "Live for nothing or die for something." is one of the most iconic lines uttered by Stallone in this week's sequel "Rambo" and trust us A LOT of people died in this movie. Jamie dressed up as Rambo for this video review and Doug looked like a dollar store Rambo knockoff toy.  We discussed the political nature of the film, the gruesome deaths, Doug's bad movie choices for dates, everyone is being mean to Rambo, and so much more.   This a video review so watch it at sequelsonly.com/rambo October is our 2nd Annual "Scary Sequel Month" and we are kicking it off with a comedy, "Scary Movie 4" because the rest of the month is all horror! This week's Bonus interview is with New Jersey's own Billy Van Zandt. Billy is an actor, writer, and playwright. He's acted in Jaws 2, written on hit shows like Newhart, and has written plays on Broadway.  We couldn't cover all of Billy's career in an hour, but he wrote a fantastic book called "Get in the Car, Jane!" that covers it all! This week I had a great chat with Actor and Singer Matthew Marsden.  Matthew talked about growing up in a small industrial town in England and wanting to be in Hollywood. Best of the Best 2 was the holy grail of sequels for Doug when he and Jamie started this project 18 months ago, and not only did we get someone from it, we got Eric Roberts. So for a movie that is this badass we needed some help, so Andrew Powers from our "Death Wish 3" review joined us and he did not disappoint. This week I had an amazing opportunity to not just pick the brain of one Roberts, but two! Eric and Eliza Roberts are two Hollywood legends that I could interview again and again. We discussed Eliza's roles in Schlock and Animal House and her Hollywood screenwriting parents, as well as how Eric started acting, Best of the Best 2, Wayne Newton, his Oscar nominations, and so much more. We are finally doing our 1st boxing sequel and no it is not in the Rocky universe.  It's Teen Wolf Too starring Jason Bateman as Todd Howard who has a "sports" scholarship to box. Well, he doesn't know what sport his scholarship is for until he starts school, yeah pretty wild right? But that is just the tip of the iceberg.  We discussed every single thing that this insane sequel threw at us.  Like is hooking up with a Teen Wolf beastiality, was Styles the mastermind of turning Todd into the "Wolf", is Blob an appropriate nickname for a fat guy named Bob,  John Astin who plays a Dean who might be a pimp and a murderer, Maverick the boxer, a female wolf, and lots lots more.
