We are doing something a little different this week - we are a man down so Tristan is opening up the Double Impact mailbag and diving into topics like female lat pack movies, Nic Cage, iconic 90s Aussie movies, Yahoo Serious and much much more!

168 - It's a double feature babyyyyy! Yes we missed last week's episode due to a technical issue, but we are back and are double stuffing your ears with double the Rambo. 167 - We are back with the latest episode in our 'Lat Pack: Past & Present' mini-series, and boy this is the big one. The prototype. The blueprint. It's RAMBO. We dive deep into the history of the character, and the franchise, but more importantly break down just where this fits in the evolution of the 'Lat Pack' action genre. Did this define a genre all its own? Or do we need to look at other 1985 heavy hitters, Commando and Rocky IV? Tune in and find out.

166 - We are back in the (relative) present-side of our "Lat Pack: Past & Present" miniseries, with he oft-overlooked weird and wonderful little number that is Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning. We go deep in all the usual places as you would expect, and for the first time in Double Impact history, we have had to issue a spoiler warning. We realise a lot of people probably haven't seen this one, but you really should! So spoilers from around 40mins in.

161 - Sorry for the delay folks, but we are BACK! Just in time to post an episode about Top Gun like every other movie podcast did last week... But hey, this is different - We go deeper, we pull at all the threads, we leave no stone unturned. We break down the origin story, the soundtrack, the beach volleyball, the legacy, the beach volleyball, and ultimately evaluate how it holds up in the roaring 2020s. Hope you enjoy!

159 - It's the final episode in our New York miniseries, and we are spending it in the Bronx. Spoiler alert - A Bronx Tale is a GOOOOOOOOOD movie.

Greg is off enjoying his 40th birthday week! so it's a re-release this week, but a timely... time(?) to catch up on the OG Ghostbusters episode. It was only a matter of time before we covered this 80s icon. When we talk about revisiting the movies that impacted us as kids, they don't make them much bigger than this - but it's easy to take for granted the beautiful absurdity of this movie getting made in the 80s, when big budget special effects comedy was simply unheard of. We of course dive deep into this film's rich origin story, as well its cultural legacy today - but perhaps most importantly, we dive into the tin-foil-hat-wearing-lovable-crackpot that is Dan Aykroyd and his obsession with ghosts and aliens that made this movie possible in the first place.

158 - Ghostbuster sequels used to be rare. Slime, Vigo, Annie Potts with a new haircut - but how does it compare to the original - and indeed, to the more recent sequel attempts? Tune in and find out.

157 - FINALLY WE DID IT! Apologies for the delay folks, on our classic Rom Com debut of all episodes. We know there is a very vocal pocket of our audience that have been asking for more films like this one, and we listened - we just took way too long in actually getting to it! Re-release - The movie that propelled Tom Hanks into the big time, as it were. It's also a movie that raises many questions in 2021. So... let's unpack it.

Yes this was supposed to be When Harry Met Sally week, but due to some cross-global issues, we haven't been able to record this week. So why not pull back an old episode we recorded pre-pandemic. Such a simpler time. And it Ghost, it's a New York love story. Its basically a Rom Com, Or Rom Horror? Who knows.

156 - Big movie this week. HUGE. The movie about the zany adventures of a taxi and its driver. The fell-good movie of 1976 - Taxi Driver! ENJOY!
