The moment we've all been waiting for has finally arrived - Kim, Kourtney, and Khloé's famous fight over Kim's custom Bentley. In order to ensure they can make it through the most noteworthy episodes of Season 2 (including Kim's Bentley breakdown and the family's trip to Colorado) before Season 18 returns on Sept 17th, Emma and Julie are breaking down both episodes 5 and 6. They first do a brief run through of episode 5, which centers around Kim and Kourtney's desire to find Khloé a boyfriend. They set up an online dating profile behind her back, and organize a series of blind dates to spy on. Caitlyn and Kris attempt to teach Kendall the value of a dollar by assigning her chores, which leads to her hiring a local dog walker to complete them for her. Episode 6 is a GOOD one. Rob looks to Kim for business advice, as she helps him pursue a career in modeling while he finishes college at USC. The girls worry about their safety after Dash has a break-in, so in true early 2000s reality TV style, they take a self defense class and make a trip to a gun range to practice their shooting skills. Emma and Julie are so excited because the first preview for the new season of KUWTK (premiering September 17th) debuted this week, and it seems like we're in for an epic season. (As well as a look into the Kardashian/Jenner life in quarantine when the pandemic hits mid-filming.) Three more episodes until Season 18 returns.  In this week's throwback episode (after a hilarious opening of the family searching for their mom's vibrator,) Kris is given the opportunity to fulfill her lifelong dream of becoming a cheerleader. It takes a lot of hard work, a private session with an A-list choreographer, and even causes an unexpected injury. But, Caitlyn and the rest of the family are supportive of Kris' dream and help her through the process.  Kendall is beginning to enter her teenage years, and the rest of the family is noticing her shifting attitude. In the spirit of transparency, Emma and Julie start out by letting their audience know that this particular episode of Keeping Up was definitely not one of the best. But hey - after 17 seasons, not every one is going to be a 10/10. They made the best of it - looping in some anecdotes, quotes & interesting tangential thoughts along the way.  The episode centers around two main plot lines: Kris bringing in a professional stylist to redo Caitlyn’s wardrobe, and Khloé’s desire to enter the spotlight. As they note early on, there are moments that are definitely uncomfortable as a viewer - the way Caitlyn handles Eric, the celebrity stylist, is undeniably homophobic. Because the topic of clothing is so prevalent, Emma and Julie cite some of Caitlyn’s quotes from recent interviews, regarding how early on she was so drawn to female clothing, and the strength it takes to live your most authentic self.  Kim’s work ethic is also on display, as well as her mutual support of Khloé‘s desire to be more integrated into Kim’s professional world. Emma and Julie continue their throwback recaps with the second episode of Season 2. This episode revolves around Rob’s new relationship with Adrienne Bailon and Kris’ journey to having a healthier home.  The episode begins with the family wondering why they are seeing less and less of Rob. We learn that he is in a new relationship with actress Adrienne Bailon, and they are getting serious fast. Rob breaks the news to Kourtney, Kim, and Khloé, and even debuts a big tattoo of her name on his ribs. The girls set up a secret coffee date, where they get to know Adrienne and warn her about breaking their brother’s heart. While meeting some of the family (in a Juicy Couture tracksuit and Uggs, no less,) Adrienne drops the bomb that she has to go to India to film her new movie, and they will have to navigate their relationship long distance. Rob is heartbroken, but luckily they set their BlackBerrys up with international service, and his sisters surprise him with plane tickets to go visit.  Kris hires a nutritionist to go through the family’s refrigerator and help give them some healthy food tips. When she suggests getting a chicken coop for fresh eggs, Kris immediately jumps on the idea. They take a trip to a local farm and bring home their new pets which, as expected, does not go well. Instead of recapping Season 2 Episode 1 as planned, Emma and Julie felt it was important to address what has been going on in the Kardashian-West family over the past 72 hours. They began by framing the episode by reminding the audience that - while widely publicized and unique in nature - we are still talking about real people, with real feelings. They express their strong intent to not contribute to the salacious narrative that the media has been pushing, and focus a large portion of the conversation on mental health.  Then, they get into the nitty gritty, catching everyone up to speed by summarizing all of Kanye’s tweets and Kim’s IG stories. After, they first engage in a discussion on the importance of de-stigmatizing mental health, and how crucial it is that people not blame Kim for this occurrence. They discuss some of the opinions that are being shared on social media, by both people with the same diagnosis, as well as members of the Black community.  Then, they analyze the celebrity aspect of all of this, as very famous names have been thrown into the mix. They discuss how Meek Mill, Larsa Pippen, and Drake all play into this, giving some background information to help contextualize some of the confusion.
