 EP 56: Ginger Gilmour | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:04:52

This week we bring you the story of Ginger Gilmour. She is an artist, a philanthropist, a colour therapy healer, a light worker, a mother to 4 children and the long time wife of David Gilmour from Pink Floyd. Chanty read Ginger’s book Memoirs of the Bright Side of the Moon, which is “a journey that reaches far into what is special about being Human and Divine”. Not only do you get to learn about what it was like to live, love, marry, travel and tour with David Gilmour and Pink Floyd, but you will also be taken on a journey of self discovery and healing. It truly is an adventure from the dark side of the moon back into the light again. Ginger tells her story with Love and Beauty… one of her life missions which she brings forwards in and through her art work. Ginger met David in AnnArbour Michigan when she was 22 and he was 25 years old. It was love at first site, and since meeting backstage after a Pink Floyd show, the couple barely left each other’s side. Shortly after meeting, David saw Ginger skating around at a roller rink he said “That girl is a dream on wheels”. In Ginger’s book she writes: A great philosopher once said, “We are what we contemplate.” In these modern times, mankind is constantly confronted with images of conflict and world disasters, it seems VERY important to contemplate the Beautiful. As you know, it has become my personal crusade as an artist. Ever since I can remember, my innermost nature has always been to do acts of kindness and to create; from saving lost animals, to organizing charitable events; from mothering our four children to now giving birth to the Art of Beauty. This is my passion. This is my life. You can find Ginger and her art online at www.angelscript.com You can find us on Twitter @ChantyandLynx as well as Instagram & Facebook @musesandstuffpodcast.  EP 55: Mary Weiland and Scott Weiland | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:16:18

Mary Forsberg was only 16 years old when she first met Scott Weiland. Seven years her senior, Scott had been hired to chauffeur Mary around to her modelling gigs. While their attraction was immediate, their careers were taking them in different directions. As Mary was jet-setting from Milan to Tokyo to Paris for exciting fashion shoots, Scott and his band, Stone Temple Pilots were beginning to dominate the airwaves. But great success doesn’t automatically equal great happiness. Both Scott and Mary were trying to find ways to deal with their depression and mental health issues. By the time their paths collided and they became a couple they each were also fighting with addiction. In no time at all they found themselves living in a rock n roll cliche. As Scott said, “It’s Bonnie & Clyde, rock n roll, hell on wheels. We know were gonna crash, but we keep on going. But what goes up has to come down, and it does. Hard.” For Mary, “The days run together, the drugs run together & the rehabs run together too.” But with motherhood came another reason to keep fighting the battle. While Mary focused on the children Scott would continue the never ending cycle of addiction for the rest of his life. Not wanting to give up on her soulmate, Mary often paid the price of her own mental stability to try and keep their family together. They officially divorced in 2007 after 7 years of marriage. When Scott passed away in 2015 Mary and their children wrote a piece for Rolling Stone saying “Let’s choose to make this the first time we don’t glorify this tragedy with talk of rock and roll and the demons that, by the way, don’t have to come with it.”  We highly recommend reading Mary’s book, Fall to Pieces:  A Memoir of Drugs, Rock ‘n’ Roll, and Mental Illness. She goes into great detail about her experiences with addiction, her journeys through detox & rehabilitation as well as her struggles with mental illness. It was incredibly informative and relatable for anyone who has struggled through these things. Scott also wrote a memoir called Not Dead & Not For Sale. For those who are interested in his music, Scott goes over all his most personal songs, discussing his feelings at the time of writing them. As he said “I know that my songs are hopelessly entangled with my obsession with Mary. I see my passion for her as a force that never stops. I’m forever chasing her.” You can find us on Twitter @chantyandlynx as well as Instagram & Facebook @musesandstuffpodcast. Please rate, review & subscribe to our podcast on iTunes!

 EP 54: Linda Ronstadt | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 52:29

This week we bring you the story of the beautiful! the talented! the powerhouse of a woman that is LINDA RONSTADT. Chanty read Linda’s book Simple Dreams: A Musical Memoir a few years back and decided to revisit it in order to celebrate this amazing person. Linda was tragically diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and gave her final performance as a singer in 2009. We wanted to honour her and say thank you for all the beautiful music. Linda’s story starts in Tucson Arizona and brings us all the way to LA where she followed her heart and her musical aspirations to become a pioneer in her field. Linda has received 12 Grammy Awards, two Academy of Country Music Awards and one Emmy as well as several Tony and Golden Globe nominations. She has sold more than 100 million records and has collaborated with Jackson Browne, Emmylou Harris, Neil Young and The Eagles, to name a few. Linda’s story is super sweet and very funny. She tells excellent stories about spending time with Randy Newman, Emmylou and Dolly Parton and speaks candidly about her experiences with sexual harassment in the music industry. Linda tells us what it was like hanging out with Jim Morrison and Janis Joplin as well as saying the SWEETEST things about our honey pie Pamela Des Barres. We also get to hear what it was like working with her one true love… Kermit the Frog! Be sure to read Linda’s book yourself as there was no way we could fit in ALL the amazing stories.  EP 53: Pamela Courson and Jim Morrison | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:07:57

This week we bring you the love story of Pamela Courson and Jim Morrison! While the stories of how they met may differ, one thing was clear from the very beginning – Jim and Pam were meant to be. Jim was only beginning to move into music then, his band The Doors working hard to build a career. Pamela was with him every step of the way not only supporting his dreams but becoming muse for both his lyrics and poetry. They became a famous duo among the Laurel Canyon crowd, living in “the house on Love Street”. While they were famous for being great lovers they were also famous for their constant fights and Jim’s out of control alcohol use. As Pamela once said, “There were a lot of people who pretended to be close to Jim, but I was the only one who had the nerve to stand up to him.”  They may both have had a dark side, but their love for one another was pure. Pamela was one of the very few people Jim trusted to bare his true self to and they both knew no matter how many fights, or flings the pair may have had, they would always have each other.  As The Doors rose to great success so did Jim’s alcoholism, leading to tensions within the band as well as numerous arrests and court cases. By 1971, Jim & Pamela knew in order to regain control of their lives, they had to get away from the chaos surrounding them. They decided to move to Paris, even though they both didn’t speak a word of French. They had each other after all, and that’s all they needed. Within 4 months Pamela would awake to find Jim had passed away in the night. A piece of Pamela died that night as well, though she stuck around long enough to fight the legal battles to ensure Jim legacy and wishes not be forgotten. They would both be deceased by age 27, though their love story has filled our airwaves and libraries ever since. As Ray Manzarek said “Pamela and Jim are going to go down in the history books as great lovers and people are going to be writing plays about them. It’s Romeo & Juliet, it’s Heloise & Abelard, it’s Jim & Pam.” There have been many books written about Jim which discuss Pamela, and there are many conflicting stories about their lives together. I had read many of these before but it wasn’t until reading Patricia Butler’s book Angels Dance & Angels Die that I felt Pamela got a fair representation. This book is the main base for this episode and an absolute must read! Please go check it out! You can find us on Twitter @chantyandlynx and on Instagram & Facebook @musesandstuffpodcast.  EP 52: Britta Lee Shain and Bob Dylan | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:21:18

This week we bring you the story of Britta Lee Shain! Britta wrote an incredible memoir called “Seeing The Real You At Last: Life and Love on the Road with Bob Dylan“. Britta’s book is smart, funny, sweet and super super sexy. Ever wondered what it was like to date Dylan in the mid 80s? So did we, and now we know and you can too! Chanty is massively hungover from burnin’ down the house as David Byrne for Halloween but she manages to bring you an episode full of laughter and Bob Dylan impressions. Britta Lee Shain had been a huge Dylan fan (also known as a Dylanophile!) well over a decade before she actually met him. If you would have told her then that she would come face to face (and more) with her idol, she would have asked you for a hit of whatever it was you were tokin’! When Britta became a member of Bob’s exclusive inner circle (how did she do it?! Listen to episode to find out…) it was the mid 80s and Bob was embarking on a European tour with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. Ever wonder what it was like to have dinner with Bob and Tom and the Heartbreakers and their wives in Cairo? We cover that!  EP 51: Kathy Etchingham | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:25:11

https://musesandstuff.ptbopodcasters.ca/wp-content/uploads/sites/4/2017/10/Kathy-Etchingham-Final.mp3 This week is all about Kathy Etchingham! Packing her bags and leaving her troubled childhood behind her at only 16, Kathy moved to London in search of the fun, glamourous lifestyle she had always dreamed of. She immediately found herself immersed in the swinging rock ‘n’ roll nightlife, having fun flirtations, memorable interactions and lasting friendships with musicians such as Keith Moon, Brian Jones, John Lennon & many more. When she met Jimi Hendrix on his first night in England the pair immediately fell for one another and began a 3 year relationship. Together they were each other’s constants, creating the home they both longed for as children. “Kathy is my past girlfriend, my present girl friend and probably my future girlfriend. My mother, my sister and all that bit. My Yoko Ono from Chester.” As Jimi’s career skyrocketed, touring became the norm and the pair grew apart, their relationship shifting from lovers to friends. Jimi wouldn’t make it past 27, but Kathy was around to make sure his legacy would not be destroyed by vicious gossip and absurd myths. You’ll have to listen to hear the wild tale of how Kathy turned investigator and was instrumental in clearing up some of the false stories that plagued Jimi’s death. In 1997 Kathy fought to have their old flat at 23 Brook Street receive a Blue Heritage Plaque and she worked hard with the Handel Trust to launch the Jimi Hendrix Musuem in 2016. Visitors can now take a step back in time and walk through a recreation of their groovy pad. Kathy wrote a wonderful book about her life titled Through Gypsy Eyes which you can purchase on her website http://www.kathyetchingham.com/ & you can plan a visit to the Hendrix museum at https://handelhendrix.org/ You

 Tom Petty | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 30:30

Chanty here. This week I speak about what it felt like to learn about the passing of Tom Petty. I’m processing and working through it the way I know how… being quiet and then talking about it. Thank you to all of the listeners, friends and family who have sent messages of love. And thank you to Tom Petty, for everything.

 EP 48: Mayte Garcia | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:11:33

By the time Mayte Garcia was 16 she’d had her whole future planned out. Belly dancing professionally since she was just 3 years old, Mayte knew she belonged in Cairo where all the great belly dancers perform. But when her family decided to catch a Prince show while on vacation… all of that changed. Encouraged by her family, Mayte sought out the tour, with a video of her dancing in hand with the hopes that she could get it to Prince. She succeeded of course, which led to a deep friendship and a job with the man himself. Lynx tells Chanty all about Mayte’s early years with Prince as well as when their friendship shifted into a bona vide relationship. Mayte was much more then just a girlfriend and wife. She was a partner, collaborating with Prince on many different projects throughout their time together. While they had many beautiful years together a shift began after the loss of their son Amiir who was born with Pfeiffer’s Syndrome Type 2. Both would deal with this loss in different ways, with Prince soon turning to religion for answers. When he became immersed in the Gospel of Jehovah and Mayte didn’t follow suit, another woman from his study group entered Prince’s life. Eventually the pair would divorce, with Mayte moving forward in LA. She has been acting and dancing ever since, is now mother to her adopted daughter Gia and runs Mayte’s Rescue, a charity which helps abandoned and abused dogs find happy homes. Even though they weren’t together in the end, Mayte knows their love was fate, and that they will meet again in another life. “He was my family. His love lives on in me. “Never say gone, never say gone” my husband told me over and over in those terrible days after our son died. With Gia in my arms, I hear his voice in my heart and know as surely as I know my name that I will see my love again.” http://maytesrescue.com/ Rate, Review and Subscribe to our Podcast on iTunes Find us on Instagram @musesandstuffpodcast, On Facebook (Muses and Stuff) and Twitter @ChantyandLynx This episode is brought to you by www.electrifiedporcupine.com Bringing you the best in action figures, collectibles, music, wrestling, gaming, and more!

 EP 47: Lori Lightning | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 39:22

This week Chanty and Lynx return to tell you all about the incredible LORI LIGHTNING! Lori found herself on the Sunset Strip in the 1970’s “by accident”. A teen model and one of the youngest of the famous Groupies, Lori was there during the height of the rock and roll heydays! Lori had an ongoing relationship with Jimmy Page, a tryst with Mick Jagger and lost her virginity to David Bowie (and maintained a loving relationship with him afterwards)! She was a very close personal friend of Sable Starr and the Mayor of the Sunset Strip, Rodney Bingenheimer! As Bebe Buell said about these girls, “Every rock star that came to LA wanted to meet them, it wasnt the other way around. It was like, ‘We’ve got to meet Sable Starr and Lori Maddox…’  There was a certain crowd you had to meet when you were in LA”. Taken from the VH1 documentary and the book by the same name: Let’s Spend the Night Together”, Pamela Des Barres speaks with Lori Maddox, reminiscing about their wild days and nights with the musicians that they loved. No matter how controversial it may have been, the girls put themselves where they wanted to be when they wanted to be there, and they wouldn’t change a thing about it. You can find Lori online at GLAMboutique to keep up with her fashion fun!
