We sit down with the hosts of The Grey NATO podcast, HODINKEE editor-at-large Jason Heaton and senior writer James Stacey. We knew from the very beginning that getting these two guys on HODINKEE Radio to talk about why we all decided to make The Grey NATO part of the HODINKEE family was a no-brainer, but this conversation ended up being about much more than podcasts and adventure watches. If you somehow managed to miss it, we hosted the HODINKEE 10th Anniversary Weekend (H10 for short) in New York City this weekend. There were a number of amazing panels and events, which you can stream right here, including an incredible episode of HODINKEE Radio recorded in front of a live audience. Our guest? Stephanie Bednarek is both a space professional and a watch nerd. Her passion for space started early and she has worked in the business of space in quite a few capacities, both for government organizations and private companies. She realized she loved watches through a funny set of circumstances but has developed a diverse taste in watches that goes way beyond the models you're probably expecting (though she does still love a good Speedmaster). She also has a lot of thoughts about what the watch industry could do to get more women interested in the hobby and she’s not afraid to let them know.

The Talking Watches alum returns for a conversation about tropical dials, how Instagram has changed collecting, and the one modern watch he actually owns.

They chat about Jack's experience as a juror, how the GPHG works behind the scenes, the various winners, some controversies, and what the Grand Prix can tell us about the state of the watch industry more generally. This Friday, Geneva will play host to the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève, or GPHG, the most prestigious awards we have in the watchmaking industry. Winners are chosen across a variety of categories, including things like complications, sports watches, best watch under CHF 6,500, etc. We thought it would be fun to get a few of our editors together in the studio ahead of the awards ceremony to give our thoughts on the 72 short-listed watches, so Ben, Cara, Jon, and I each picked our own winners and debated the finer points of what separates the best from the rest.

Davide Cerrato is the creative director and head of watchmaking at Montblanc, overseeing both the creative and business sides of the firm – a rare thing indeed. Once you get past his friendly demeanor, you realize that he's an extremely sharp guy, who brings his knowledge of the world outside the Vallée de Joux to bear on his work in unexpected ways. Davide's job is to lead the company into the future, being savvy enough to take the best of the past with them, while having the discipline to leave the rest behind. To call Michael Weisberg a watch dealer doesn’t really do him justice. In addition to selling watches (and really damn good ones, I might add), he also deals in vintage design and furniture, classic cars, art, and more. From classic Rolex sport watches or rare Prouvé chairs, Sol Lewitt wall drawings or a vintage Ferrari, Michael is your guy. We sat down with Michael in LA to talk his career path, the state of the collecting community, and how his various interests all intersect. Enjoy.

There really is nobody quite like Ted Gushue. He could be described as a "man of sort-of-leisure." He works hard – really hard, in fact – but at the kinds of things that most probably wouldn't consider work at all. Ted is currently something of a nomad, traveling the world taking pictures with his Leica M10, driving the coolest cars from nearly ever era of automotive history, and helping brands reach new audiences.
