As we prepare our hearts for Easter we take a look at 7 characters from the crucifixion story. We often focus on the good news of easter, and we can easily forget the great price that was paid for our salvation. As we take a glimpse through the eyes of these biblical characters , let's reflect on this tragic but essential part of the Easter story.
The story of Jonah teaches us about the mercy and the justice of God. We must be careful not to confuse our idea of justice with the Lord's true justice. When we truly understand what will happen to the enemies of God we must do everything we can to push them toward the God's mercy. We must forgive our enemies for we have been forgiven.
As a follower of Christ do you stand out from the world because of your continual dependence on God? In Daniel 6 we see Daniel stand out and stand firm in his trust of God in spite of the persecution he was receiving. His faithfulness to God caused others to stand amazed at the faithfulness of God.
The story of David and Goliath is an excellent picture of courage. In Goliath, we see a man whose courage comes from his trust in his own abilities. In David, we see a man whose courage comes from the power and faithfulness of his God. It isn’t enough to be brave, but we must be brave because we serve and trust an all powerful God.
Todd shares the vision of Watermark at the new Watermark Fort Worth campus on their first Sunday meeting together.
Through the flood we see an example of God’s hatred for sin and the extents he will go in order to destroy it. But we also see his faithfulness. We see that god will always keep his promises, and through His grace He always provides provision for His people to escape the coming wrath. God is patient and gracious with us. May we trust Him like Noah did.
The fall of man is not just a children's story, but an historical account that teaches us a great deal about God, the accuser, and us. The great temptation is to make ourselves ultimate, to put ourselves in the middle when Christ is the true center of the universe. We must trust God in our temptation, in our sin, and for our redemption.
We weren't meant to do this alone! We must surround ourselves with Spirit filled believers who can speak wisdom into our situation. For "where there is no guidance the people fall, but in the abundance of counselors there is victory" (Proverbs 11:14).
Even greater than "Remembering When" is the challenge to "Imagine If". Imagine if our marriages caused the world to ask why our marriages were different. In this session, you will be challenged to imagine what our relationships and world would be like if we lived out our marriages in a way that caused the world to believe in Christ.
Does God really have anything to say about sex in the context of marriage? During this breakout, John & Pam McGee will have a candid discussion about how Christians should approach sex, handling differences in desire, barriers to physical intimacy and what to do about them, what is in bounds and out of bounds in the bedroom, what is the best position for Christians (just kidding we won't discuss this), and steps you can take to improve your sex life.
Family is God's ordained means through which we will raise up the next generation of leaders. So our role as parents is crucial for the future of the Church and our society. As in all things we must lead ourselves well for our kids will rarely fail to do what we do. Extraordinary disciples do not come from ordinary homes.
Every marital problem is a spiritual problem. We see in John 13:34-35 that it is impossible for two Spirit filled people to have anything other than a great relationship. So why do we still have problems in our marriage if we are redeemed in Christ? We must daily yield ourselves in humility to Jesus and constantly be filled with the Spirit.
How does your home look behind closed doors? We must be committed to leading ourselves in godliness before we can lead our families. It is impossible to be committed to the Lord and His purposes and not be radically committed to making disciples in your home.
If you are part of the body of Jesus Christ then you are a missionary, an alien in this world. We must remember that no matter where we are we are on mission. The ones who are faithful on mission around the world are the same ones who are faithful here.
Do you take your commitments too lightly? The things we commit to and our follow through with them matter to God. We as Christ followers should be known for our reliability and honesty. We should keep our word even when it hurts.
