Born and raised in Southside Jamaica Queens the artist Nikko Tesla experienced very humble beginnings even though his musical lineage would say otherwise. The Nephew of disco legend Gloria Gaynor who sang such hits as “I Will Survive” and “Never Can Say Goodbye” and the Son of Sondra Simon who sang back up for Gloria and was the lead singer of Simon Said, Nikko didn’t have to travel far to fall in love with music or get a music lesson. Nikko’s love of music was instant watching his family sing while he learned to play various instruments, but his love of hip hop came from his favorite emcee “Nas”. Nas’ influence on Nikko was dramatic. Before long Nikko would start writing his own story and rhymes , his mother Sondra then began to give him song-writing lessons with homework that needed to be completed to move on to something new. When I was growing up their show was the number one show my mother would not let me watch, but I snuck it in from time to time. They were the first comedic pair on television I had ever seen and I thought they were hilarious. Tommy Chong talks to me about his beginnings as a guitar player and singer signed to Motown, yes signed to the imfamous hit making Motown, and how The Jacksons opened for them before they shot to fame. But the real art for me is when I come to a point where I say to myself that now something needs to happen that I don't have the answer to in my sensible self, which often happens when I write. It's then that I start to search within myself with eyes inside my brain and with ears both inside and outside of myself, and the funny thing is that I never get disappointed. The answers I get from such searching in my inner self, however, don't explain how and in what sense I should use the words and phrases that I have found, that right on the spot of the text I'm writing most often are unexplainable.

Richard received his Bachelors of Science Degree in business, from Long Island University, C.W. Post College, in 1973. He went on to receive his Doctorate of Chiropractic from the Columbia Institute of Chiropractic in New York, and was in private practice in San Diego, California for 30-years.
