Our friend Luke shares his views on the Christmas TV. We catch up on all the gossip. We are ambivalent about Harry and Megan's announcement. Andy is horrified about a woman spending £4000 on a holiday which then goes wrong! Nick tells us about some ridiculous new gadgets launched at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas including a robot salad maker! We extol the virtues of holidaying in your home country. Plus... our favourite TV show is back.

New Year and back to watching our weight. It seems the 10,000 steps is a waste of time. Andy tells us how a woman at his slimming group photographs her boobs! We ask who likes Panettone? No-one apparently. Marks & Spencers reveal poor trading results. We tell them why it happened. Nick extolls the virtues of his new coffee pod machine. Of course we talk about Vegan January in the UK and warn how a vegan diet doesn't necessarily mean the food is healthier for you. Plus… Nick asks about auctions… have you ever been to one? Finally… quiet shopping, we must be getting old as the music in shops is too loud!

There’s more apples and onions talk. We then discuss Coldplay and the mixed views the band generates… but they're ideal for telephone hold music! Then we review some classic American game shows we found over Christmas including Card Sharks, and Concentration. We are amazed how enthusiastic American contestants are. We continue our review of retailers in London's West End. There's Wholefoods. We think it's the nice lighting that attracts people in. Dutch store HEMA is a favourite. We look at Christmas treats. Also... We discuss TV news reading. Mary Nightingale puts her glasses ON at the end rather than during the news. Thankfully ITV has dropped the all knowing nod-winking news, but the BBC continues the standing up news. Plus...Christmas coffis (coffees) and Andy hates soup. We talk Christmas mints, and mince pies, and other products especially for Christmas including deep fried chocolates! Finally... Trends for 2020... It's all about flour and fresh snacks. We'll see!

This week it’s Bleak House. It’s been Andy’s birthday (& was still 8 week’s from Christmas when we recorded this show.) He’s very curmudgeonly about Christmas. “Less texting and more looking” is this week’s phrase. We discuss face and hand cream and how it can vary so much in price. Andy sticks with Nivea! We discuss market research and excess packaging. Plus… we’ve visited John Lewis and Selfridges on Oxford Street. We’re impressed with the Selfridges food hall but both agree Oxford Street is full of strange people!

This week, we thinks Brexit will mean poor fruit and veg so its time to grow our own.  We look at copy-cat foods... e.g. supermarket own label copying big name brands. Andy's seen a ceramic Penguin to put biscuits or pasta in. Plus... old technology. Pagers in hospitals, cheque books, and fax machines. We thought they were going but they're still around. Luke pops in to talk about Britain's got no talent and Dancing on Ice. We discuss the use of vending machine for sausages and flowers. Finally... Andy reviews a great new TV show... Snackmasters!

Setting up a gazeebo and the downside to running events outside. How do traders manage it? It must be disheartening in poor weather. If you are an outdoor trader get in touch! We discuss the longevity of consumer affairs programmes. The queen of the genre is “Watchdog”. It’s always full of disasters & tales of woe. It seems they’ve ditched the bank of phone operators & the show comes from a corridor in Salford. We also discuss Rip off Britain. Plus... the McDonalds vegan burger… that is stupidly cooked in the same fryers as the meat products. That’s going to be popular with vegans – we don’t think! And… Tesco announces they’re going to reduce the price of their vegan products and making the “plant based” section clearer to make it more appealing.

This week we drift from chocolate oranges to record shops! Why are Quality Street sweets smaller this year? We look at kitsch Christmas gifts. We find a novel way people are recycling crisps packets and look at the return of glass milk bottles. Plus... we sing the praises of a wonderful book and record shop called David's in Letchworth Garden City.

We continue our look at old TV gameshows. This week Blankety Blank and more shocking prizes. We look at how gameshows were traditionally presented by established entertainers. Nick and Andy encourage you to get along to free TV recordings… just for the experience. Plus... fellow broadcaster Luke Walsh shares his views on gameshows (he's 20 years younger than us so his views are very different!). We promise... no gameshow talk next week! We look at the strange headlines that appear in local newspapers. We’ve watched the new Supermarket Sweep on TV… frankly we think its too long winded. We discuss how it's changed over the years.  Andy has baking disasters...that unceremoniously are slid into the bin. Plus... we look into the gold toilet stolen from Blenheim Palace. Finally... the fun of visiting TV studios.

The joys of German supermarkets and pfand… the fabulous bottle recycling system. We find no glamour to airline instant coffee and ask why people rush to get up when the flight arrives. Our friend Luke pops in (twice) to tell us about his work experience and how radio is the best medium.
