Radio Retropolis

A clock maker is in possession of a cursed clock that only operates when using the original 30 pieces of silver given to Judas Iscariot. Any man who has come in contact with this clock has died a violent death.  With this information, the clock maker seeks the man who murdered his father.  Commentary on tonight's guest star Berry Kroeger.  Plus, we look at the different views of Judas Iscariot.

The story from our last serial continues but this time the stakes are much higher and the villain-a woman-much deadlier than the others.  Her mission is to retrieve the plans for the mechanical man and to take out Lois Lane.  Commentary on the negative stereotypes of Asians, then called Orientals, so soon after Pearl Harbor.  Plus, is their a drug that can feign death for an extended period of time?

A man is shot and critically wounded in the street of a residential neighborhood. His assailant is unknown and nowhere to be found. Commentary on Barney Phillips as Ed Jacobs taking glee in Friday missing dinner at the diner.  Plus, the California State Juvenile Officers Association which is mentioned in tonight's episode.  Finally, guest stars Jack Kruschen and Helen Kleeb.

The Mechanical Man has crashed through the shipyard gates and is programmed to destroy all in its path.  Kent, as Superman, hears about these events on the radio and races to the shipyard.  Commentary that there are only three serials left in this first version of Superman.  Plus, we highlight the thrilling next serial featuring Superman's first deadly female villain.

Visitors to a death chamber end up dead by a sadistic jailer who straps them in the electric chair, pulls the switch and kills them even though no evidence of being electrocuted is evident on the bodies.  Commentary on the original episode from which they remade this episode.  Plus, the process of electrocution in the electric chair.

In the last episode, Lois Lane is threatened by Heller to cooperate with their plans of terror.  When she refuses, he sends the mechanical man to persuade her.  Commentary on the Battle of Battan and the first sub sunk by the Americans in the war.

A mother with four children disappears which leaves her sister to care for the children left behind. However, there's evidence of foul play. Commentary on the precise sound effects in Dragnet and how it gives us tremendous insight into what the visual could be. Interestingly, there was also a sound misdirection with Barney Phillips.  Finally, the location of Mulholland Drive which figures into this plot.

Kent and Campbell were stunned to learn of the secret room operated by Heller and how they could have escaped with Lois Lane.  But a new danger awaits the duo.  Commentary on Kent's bravery and Christopher Reeve's performance in Superman from 1977.

Peter Frame was killed in a knife attack leaving another man still alive who vows vengeance on his killer.  The only clue is a certain watch charm that belonged to the dead man.  Commentary on star Les Tremayne.

Lois was discovered by Heller and the Yellow Mask and was taken prisoner.  Superman, aware Lois was missing, arrives at the hideout but was startled by what his x-ray vision revealed.  Commentary on Pearl Harbor and the American pride evident in this episode.

Two convicts escape from San Quentin.  They're armed and begin a crime wave of hold-ups. The trail leads to Mexico via San Diego as they vow never to be taken alive.  Commentary on San Diego Chief of Police Adam E Jansen who is credited as a contributor to this story line.
