DEEP DIVE - On this episode of Those Conspiracy Guys we gargle the hardest pill to swallow in the war for the health of our planet and discuss the murky and insanely diverse machinations of health industry; one of the most inaccessible and necessary institutions on the planet, but it has been corrupt by the force we know as Big Pharma. From earliest doctors and ancient medicines, human have tried to cure ailments both in the body and the mind. From cataract surgery being done over 2500 years ago to caesarian sections being done in the jungles of Africa in the 18th century the medical industry has come a long way to what we know it as todayOutdated medical practices have made way for a more clinical and science based approach to curing physical human maladies. The older remedies though had the cause of the disease at the heart of the treatment, where new cures tend not to be a fix for the disease, but merely a treatment of the symptom. The blame for this may lie at the feet of the owners of the big pharmaceutical companies who, through nefarious wartime shenanigans, managed to bankrupt German drug producers to make drugs used predominantly required during war time and made billions, and still make billionsTreatment and mis diagnosis go hand in hand in todays medical treatment landscape. ADHD and pain medications are routinely used and abused by patients and are woefully oversubscribed by doctors the world over. Over use of antibiotics and heavy treatments for small ailments now leave humanity itself at risk. The opioid and amphetamine epidemic that is raging in the US at the moment is alleged to be the fault of the over prescribing doctors but drug seeking behaviour and reliance on illegal drugs after prescriptions run out is causing detrimental damage to small towns all across America. Opiates especially Fentanyl are causing overdoses in the thousands per year and little is being done about its availabilityPrice gauging on essential medical supplies is also one of the sins of Big Pharma and characters like Martin Skreli have been held as pharmaceutical neoliberal pariahs in the recent past. But insurance companies acquiescing to this behaviour and congress failing to act to quell these massive price hikes are failures rarely mentioned in news reports. We also look at alternative medicine and natural remedies that were totally fine for human beings for thousands of years and have only recently been replaced by chemical synthetics. DEEP DIVE - On this episode of Those Conspiracy Guys we talk about the undisputed King of Pop, Michael Jackson, and his frequent rises and falls from public adoration to global vilification and from innocent child star delighting many, to tarnished sex predator fated to spend his life in forced hermitage and eventually die quietly and alone. Michael came from a religious family who were talented beyond measure. His father was a hard task master and this is often cited as Michaels neverending quest for everlasting youth with beatings and a gruelling rehersal schedule, some say he never lived like a normal child.As the Jackson 5, Michael and his brothers broke through the blossoming 60s music industry and were the pioneers of the pop paradigm in America. His fascination with children and his obviously odd public behaviour drew suspicion and investigation by the public and the tabloid press. His short lived marraiges and relationships were questioned and even his kids were the subject of public scrutiny. Michaels career took a nose dive when he faced multiple allegegations of child sexual abuse and having a large estate called Neverland with candy machines lining the halls and a ferris wheel in the yard; didnt look good for his case. DEEP DIVE - On this episode of Those Conspiracy Guys we all jump on the freedom ride to truth town dodging hoses of lies and misdirection and the snarling hounds of bigotry as we discuss one of the most influential architects of social justice the world has ever known, Dr Martin Luther King Jr. Starting from humble beginnings in a holy household, young Martin had to contend with the knowledge his father, also a reverend, would bestow. This awareness of racial segregation gave a young Martin a sense of despair but sparked the flame of change As he educated himself Martin became more powerful as an orator and an influencer. A young academic prodigy he finished school early and went to college, completing his doctorate at aged just 26 at Boston college. Martin was thrust immediately into political life becoming the president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference and taking part in bus boycotts in Montgomery Alabama. Here he honed his skill of public speaking and flourished in success after civil rights successOne of his most renowned moments came at the famous March on Washington which saw Martin give his famous I have a Dream speech. Spoken in front of hundreds of thousands of black faces in the nations capital, it cemented him as a power to be reckoned with but also drew anxious attention from the establishment. The FBI had tantamount to a harassment campaign in place for Dr King since 1961 and they have wiretaps and surveillance on him constantly. Perpetually attempting to sully his good name or frame him for a crime that would dull his moral standingAfter numerous failed attempts more drastic measures were enforced and in 1968 at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis Martin Luther King was shot and killed by allegedly a lone gunman by the name of James Earl Ray. TRUE CRIME - On this episode of Those Conspiracy Guys we look at one of the longest running terror campaigns in history and the most prolific serial criminal in America, Ted Kaczynski also known as The Unabomber. From the late 70s Ted Kaczynski sent explosive packages through the post to unsuspecting colleges, universities, airlines and academic personnel right up until his capture in Montana in 1997.The FBI began looking for this mysterious bomber after a package was found in the hold of an American Airlines flight that had failed to detonate. The primitive bomb could have done a lot of damage and some similar bombs had been sent to Northwestern University and other colleges, to be opened by computer science and engineering professors. This reign of terror lasted for 20 years as the FBI were unable to find any evidence to discover the identity of the bomber, and they created a task force to try to capture even some small piece of evidence to apprehend this unattainable terrorist.Ted Kaczynski was a bonifide genius with an IQ of 167 and he was accepted to Harvard at just 16 years of age. His college experience was far from idyllic however; thanks to the hands of DR Henry A Murray Ted was subjected to MK Ultra mind control techniques and it was reported to have broken his psyche. This is cited as the reason for Teds crimes after his capture, but because of his intelligence he was able to elude capture from the FBI and the hundreds of agents assigned to the case. Ted would leave small clues and taunt the law enforcement with red herrings and secret messages in the bombs.One such secret message was not so much a note as a novel; known as The Manifesto, titled ‘Industrial Society and its future’ was a scathing and cynical critique of modern society and its reliance on technology and industrialisation. Ted longed for a society that was much closer to ‘Wild Nature’ and this could be why he decided to check out of modern society and live in a box cabin in the woods of Montana. The Manifesto however was the key piece of evidence that would be used to apprehend him using new state of the art forensic techniques.Every bomb that passes through the hands of the FBI was rigorously examined forensically by the FBI but no trace of DNA or fingerprints could be found. Enter James Fitzgerald FBI field agent and soon to be forensic linguistics expert, who cracked the code of the manifesto and exposed the identity of Kaczynski. Using pattern recognition and linguistic analysis Fitzgerald was able to identify the Unabomber speech and a very public sting operation was set up so the FBI could finally put a name to the bombs. This reign of terror lasted for 20 years as the FBI were unable to find any evidence to discover the identity of the bomber, and they created a task force to try to capture even some small piece of evidence to apprehend this unattainable terrorist.Ted Kaczynski was a bonifide genius with an IQ of 167 and he was accepted to Harvard at just 16 years of age. His college experience was far from idyllic however; thanks to the hands of DR Henry A Murray Ted was subjected to MK Ultra mind control techniques and it was reported to have broken his psyche. This is cited as the reason for Teds crimes after his capture, but because of his intelligence he was able to elude capture from the FBI and the hundreds of agents assigned to the case. Ted would leave small clues and taunt the law enforcement with red herrings and secret messages in the bombs.One such secret message was not so much a note as a novel; known as The Manifesto, titled ‘Industrial Society and its future’ was a scathing and cynical critique of modern society and its reliance on technology and industrialisation. Ted longed for a society that was much closer to ‘Wild Nature’ and this could be why he decided to check out of modern society and live in a box cabin in the woods of Montana. The Manifesto however was the key piece of evidence that would be used to apprehend him using new state of the art forensic techniques.Every bomb that passes through the hands of the FBI was rigorously examined forensically by the FBI but no trace of DNA or fingerprints could be found. Enter James Fitzgerald FBI field agent and soon to be forensic linguistics expert, who cracked the code of the manifesto and exposed the identity of Kaczynski. Using pattern recognition and linguistic analysis Fitzgerald was able to identify the Unabomber speech and a very public sting operation was set up so the FBI could finally put a name to the bombs. Natalee was on holiday in Aruba on a vacation from college and she went missing just 3 days into the trip. Her body was never found and since 2005 many reports, theories and even witnesses claim to have solved the case, but Natalee remains missing and a murderer still roams free.Local romeo Joran Van Der Sloot was the prime suspect in the case at the time. DEEP DIVE - On this episode we talk about one of the biggest mass suicides on American soil and an organisation that shook the American people to the core in the late 90s, The Heavens Gate Cult. Classed as crackpots and 'Techno Pagans’ the cult operated from 1976 until the mass suicide event in 1997 where 39 people died by ingesting poison laced applesauce, and lying down peacefully to die with a purple shroud over their face. This strangest of scenes was orchestrated by the cults leader Marshall Herff Applewhite who founded the cult with his wife and partner Bonnie Lou Nettles. They allegedly met in a psychiatric hospital where Nettles was a nurse and Applewhite a patient. Suspected schizophrenia was the cause of Applewhite's mental maladies and when paired with Nettle’s support and somewhat similar delusions, the recipe for a crazy religious organisation was born.Using mysticism, theosophy and fundamental elements of many religions, Nettles and Applewhite created a UFO focussed cult that appealed to the more modern faithful follower. God and Jesus didnt do it anymore for people coming out of the swinging 60s and the promise of hitching a ride, body and soul, on a real honest to goodness UFO into another galaxy was a dream for these cult members.After Nettles death in 1985 the cult belief system took a dark turn and self mutilations, like castration, began to take place. Polygamy, starvation, celibacy, and mind control techniques like regiments sleep and food and constant humming were all inflicted on the members of the cult in Bonnies absence. Applewhite hatched a plan and created a new doctrine where only the spirit would now be accepted into the spaceship and in 1997 they got their chance.The Hale-Bopp Comet was to sail past the Earth and Marshall convinced the followers of the cult that there was a spaceship in its wake; piloted by Bonnie Nettles spirit 12 years after her death. The all believed and went about video taping confessional suicide notes on tape and describing their justification for the mass suicide that was about to take place.
