Ep. 188 - Armand Majidi. (Sick Of It All. Rest In Pieces. Straight Ahead) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:09:35

The machine! Drummer for "Sick of it All", one of the greatest bands in hardcore. My guest for Episode 188 of The Brooklyn Blast Furnace is Armand Majidi. He was on in a smaller capacity on Episode 50 with Lou Koller, Craig Ahead and producer Jerry Farley. This is the first time I'm having a one on one conversation with him. We speak of course about the band and the uncertain future of musicians and live music. But we really go into his upbringing, living in Iran during the revolution, the things he witnessed while living there, what brought him to permanently move to America, and his take on what's currently happening here now. False flag operations, fear, viruses, and how everything is politicized. We touch on the series of "Quarantine Jams" the band is currently in the middle of releasing as well. I had a great time chopping it up with him and thankful for his time. Enjoy.

 Ep. 187 - Bob Riley. (Stigmata. Murderer's Row. Record Collector) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:32:44

One of the people that I've been wanting to speak with for a long time! My guest on Episode 187 of The Brooklyn Blast Furnace is the singer for "Stigmata", "Murderers Row", and record collecfor, Bob Riley! We go back in the days to the Troy and Albany metal and hardcore scene. His earlier bands that formed into "Stigmata". Some of our favorite shows from decades ago and into how "Murderers Row" came to be. Then of course we go into some of his record collection, which is insane. Nothing but respect for him. I hope you enjoy this.

Ep. 186 - Jeff Gunnells Part 2. (Cold As Life. H8 Inc. Ramallah) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:11:55

When I wrapped up the first episode of The Brooklyn Blast Furnace with Jeff Gunnells, we spoke and decided that a second episode needed to happen. We, of course talk a little bit about music and he announces some "Cold As Life" news that I think you'll be happy to hear. But then, we quickly start talking about life. The decisions that we make, the consequences of those actions and how sometimes it's a long fight in order to regain trust with the people that we love. I can talk with Jeff for hours. I'm sure there will be a part three eventually. I hope you enjoy this one. Respect.

Ep. 185 - Enzo D. (Dogz Of War. H8 Inc. Cold As Life. The Alliance) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:15:34

Detroit hardcore! Guitarist for "Dogz of War", "H8 Inc.", "The Alliance", "Cast In Fire", "Strength of Reality", and sang for a few years for "Cold As Life". My guest is Enzo D. Born and raised in Detroit, he started sneaking out of his house to go to shows. He quickly met Rawn Beauty, Ratbones and the rest of the early Cold As Life lineup. He tells a few Rawn stories from when he lived with him for a while. We go into the bands he was in and how all of them would practice in his basement. He speaks about singing for Cold As Life as well as hinting about a new Dogz of War record that is basically finished. We also touch on his race car and shop. Super cool guy that will be on for a second part for sure. Detroit hardcore... the hardest shit there is. Respect.

Bonus - Jon Zazula. (Former CEO and Founder of Megaforce Records. CraZed Management. Author) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:05:06

A special full length Bonus episode of The Brooklyn Blast Furnace with very special guest Jon "Jonny Z" Zazula! Former CEO and Founder of Megaforce Records, CraZed Management and author of "HEAVY TALES: The Music. The Metal. The Madness as lived by Jon Zazula". It was an honor to speak with this man. He created two of the four of "The Big Four" bands. He discovered Metallica, Anthrax, Testament, Overkill. Countless bands have had records released on Megaforce such as Merciless Fate, Ministry, Raven, Mindfunk, and dozens of others. We could have gone very deep into him discovering Metallica and a thousand tour stories, but we didn't want to give up everything that's in his book. He did tell a few great stories that aren't in there though! The utmost respect for this man and his wife Marsha, who created a legacy that continues today. Enjoy. Born and bred in the Bronx... "Big Left"! We go back to the Crack Era in the Bronx , BMX bikes, stolen Jeeps and pitbulls on the corner by the bodega. We get into his long but dedicated process that got him into the United States Marine Corps. A ton of banter and what's happening now and the near future. There's a lot spoken about. Enjoy!

Bonus - Diabolic Part IV. (The Return of Suffolk's Most Wanted) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:55:18

A full length Bonus episode of The Brooklyn Blast Furnace Podcast. From witches to Ouija boards to moth balls and a ton of nonsensical banter. One of my favorite people to bullshit with. One of the best rappers out there and one of the funniest people I know. Ladies and gentlemen... Part IV with the homie... Diabolic. He's got a new record on deck about to drop soon along with a new track, which he plays on this episode while he goes to take a piss. Smarten yaself up if you're unaware. Much respect.  Ep. 183 - Brian McTernan. (Battery. Be Well. Ashes. Salad Days Studio) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:31:53

My guest on Episode 183 of The Brooklyn Blast Furnace is musician and record producer, Brian McTernan. He was playing the early shows with his band "Battery" while he was in the eighth grade. We go way back in his past from a kid who found his tribe at an early age where he can be comfortable in his own skin. We touch on his other bands "Ashes" and "Miltown" and speak a lot about his newest band, "Be Well". We go into how he opened up "Salad Days Studio" and the insanely ridiculous records he has produced. We also talk about family and what it's like for the both of us to be a father and how nothing else at the end of the day matters. I had an amazing time speaking with him. A super cool, humble man. I hope you enjoy this. Respect. Go get the new "Be Well" record, "The Weight and the Cost" now on Equal Vision Records.

Ep. 182 - Chris Wrenn. (Bridge Nine Records) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:36:39

Celebrating 25 years! From 1995-2020. Happy Anniversary to Bridge Nine Records! My guest on this episode is owner and founder, Chris Wrenn. We go back to the early 90's in Boston when he decided to create the label in order to simply help out. Being able to keep an independent record label up and running for 25 years(and still going)isn't an easy thing to pull off. From his first 7" to releasing way over 100 records to having everyone from Agnostic Front, Sick Of It All, H2O, Death Before Dishonor, American Nightmare, Ramallah, Terror, Cruel Hand, Slapshot, Ten Yard Fight and countless others on Bridge 9. From band talk to some funny shit talk about the very heated Yankees/Red Sox rivalry in the early to mid-2000's to cemeteries in Salem. Another great time doing this podcast. Congratulations once again for 25 years of Bridge Nine Records! Respect.

Ep. 181 - Jeff Gunnells. (Cold As Life. H8 Inc. Ramallah) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:20:31

The episode I never thought would happen. My guest on Episode 181 is none other than Jeff Gunnells! A founding member of Detroit's most dangerous band... "Cold As Life". He played guitar on all demos then moved to vocals after the murder of Rodney "Rawn Beauty" Barger, the original singer. Their first full length release, "Born to Land Hard" in my opinion, is the hardest record ever released. He also played guitar in "H8 Inc.", another band who's discography is ridiculously hard as well as "Ramallah". We speak about the Detroit hardcore scene back in the early and late 90's along with his former bands. We then speak about the last decade of his life. From being incarcerated for a little over seven years, paroled during a pandemic and receiving news shortly thereafter that nobody ever wants to hear. I asked him what he thought about the several other versions of "Cold As Life" in which he has several opinions. Knowing Jeff's history, and what he endured over the last decade, his energy and positive outlook is great to see. I hope you enjoy this one. It's one that I've been wanting to do since I started this podcast and if I was to guess, I didn't think it would ever happen. I'm glad it did. Respect.

 Ep. 180 - Perry Strickland. (Vio-Lence) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:33:23

It was pretty cool to have had the opportunity to speak with three members of one of my favorite metal bands. I started with the singer, Sean Killian, then guitarist Phil Demmel and now... my guest on Episode 180 of The Brooklyn Blast Furnace is the drummer for "Vio-Lence", Perry Strickland! Such a fun guy to chop it up with. We speak about some of the crazy but absolutely fun things he did with the other members of the band when they were kids that, nowadays would be frowned upon. The history of the band, record labels, the records, and especially the long awaited upcoming "Vio-Lence" EP that will be released on "Metal Blade Records". It was truly a lot of fun to bullshit with him. I hope you enjoy this one. "Vio-Lence" Rules.

Ep. 179 - Johnny Kelly. (Type O Negative. Danzig. A Pale Horse Named Death. Silvertomb) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:43:07

From playing in local Brooklyn bands to becoming the drummer of "Type O Negative" right after "Bloody Kisses" was released to playing drums for "Danzig" for almost twenty years at this point... my guest for Episode 179 of The Brooklyn Blast Furnace is none other than Johnny Kelly! The man has been busy. We talk about old school Brooklyn, the stretch of bars down Flatbush Avenue in the late 80's and early 90's. Other than "Type O Negative" and "Danzig", he played for "A Pale Horse Named Death" alongside Sal Abruscato, the former drummer of "Type O" and "Life of Agony", "Seventh Void" which became "Silvertomb" with former members of "Type O", "Inhuman" and "Agnostic Front". He has filled in for "Black Label Society" and "Kill Devil Hill", Rex Brown and Vinny Appice's band. He has a side project, basically just for fun called "Hookers And Blow". I had a great time choppin' it up with my homie from Brooklyn. Rest In Peace Green Man. Enjoy.

Bonus - Craig Ahead. (Sick Of It All) "We've Been Singing About This Stuff For Years!" | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:13:34

A full length bonus episode of The Brooklyn Blast Furnace with the legendary Craig Ahead. You should all know him by now... bass player for Sick Of It All, Cro-Mags(JM), Agnostic Front, Youth Of Today, Straight Ahead, Rest In Pieces, NYC Mayhem and Creep Division. The vast majority of this episode focuses on the state of the world at the present time. What is happening, and what we can possibly do about it. Are we "conspiracy theorists"? Some might say so... others will completely "get it". Craig is a great guy and friend. Always a pleasure choppin' it up with him. Enjoy.

Ep. 178 - "Holding These Moments": A Documentary About A Band Called Bane. | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:18:40

This caps off the second five part series focusing on Bane. Eleven episodes in total between the two series. The timing was perfect. My guests for Episode 178 of The Brooklyn Blast Furnace are filmmakers; Dan Elswick (director) and Ricardo Cozzolino (editor). Together they created "Holding These Moments". The long awaited documentary about a band called Bane. We discuss, but not in too much detail the incredible documentary they made. From the initial idea about even making one, to setting out and going on the road with the band on their final tour, the editing process, the ups and downs and everything in between. They announce the actual release date in this episode, which I thought was incredibly cool of them to wait to do my show to announce something that so many people have been waiting for for so long. Super cool guys and like I've said before, each and every one of the members of the band and everyone associated with them have been a pleasure to speak with. I hope you enjoyed both of the Bane series. It's been an amazing ride. Much respect to all of you. Enjoy. Bane Forever.
