T'Unique Green: From Victim to Author | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:02:00

An author reflects on her life story that was filled with lies, deceit, and betrayal of trust.  Under the pseudonym of Tunique the author began to write down her life experiences using fictional characters. Before long, it all came together as a book about the negative results of being loyal to the wrong guy. As a result, the author was not permitted to return to her place of work. Tune in tonight at 8:00 pm Eastern to learn the story behind the author’s debut novel. A synopsis: Gizelle and Mona have been best friends for as long as they could remember. It was middle school when they first met and noticed they were just alike...like sisters, fooling anybody who didn’t know they weren't any kin.  In high school, they both had a sweetheart. Mona fell in love with Gavin, after losing her virginity to him, and Gizelle fell for the bad boy, Tramaine, who got expelled from school and rebelled against any authority that stopped him from doing whatever he wanted to do.  Regardless of how much bad Mona saw in Tramaine and how he would mistreat Gizelle, Zelle only saw the love he was trying to give to her. But although his awful ways were getting to her, she thought she would be the good girl who could change a thug by being loyal to him til the death.  After graduating from college with her business degree, Gizelle became very successful in her city and owned five daycare centers. Mona was successful as well, being the city's top paid State Attorney and her high school boo being a head detective.

Panel Discussion on Single Parenting | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:02:00

Check for your Time Zone: 9:00 pm Atlantic, 8:00 pm Eastern, 7:00 pm Central, 6:00 pm Mountain, 5:00 pm Pacific. A single parent is an uncoupled individual who shoulders most or all of the day-to-day responsibilities for raising a child or children. A mother is more often the primary caregiver in a single-parent family structure that has arisen due to death of the partner, divorce or unplanned pregnancy. Historically, death of a partner was a major cause of single parenting. Single parenting can also result from the breakup or divorce of coupled parents. Custody battles, awarded by the court or rationalized in other terms, determine who the child will spend majority of their time with. In western society in general, following the separation of a heterosexual couple, a child is placed with the primary caregiver, usually the mother, while the secondary caregiver is usually the father, the reverse does happen and joint custody is on the rise. Over the past 20 years single-parent families have become even more common than the so-called "nuclear family" consisting of a mother, father, and children. Today we see all sorts of single parent families: headed by mothers, headed by fathers, headed by a grandparent raising their grandchildren. Single Parent Day is a day for "honoring the single parent who is basically doing double duty" and "giving them some respect," Mary Anne Britton, the international vice president of membership for Parents Without Partners, told the About Parenting website. The March 21 date of the celebration was chosen to coincide with the day Parents Without Partners was formed in 1957. For more info go to:  j.mp/25ykrVA

Women for Economic and Leadership Development, a WELD Panel Discussion | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:01:00

Check your Time Zone 8:00 pm Eastern/Atlantic, 7:00 pm Central, 6:00 pm Mountain, 5:00 pm Pacific. Vision: WELD is the national model for implementing strategies to advance women to higher levels of leadership and economic strength. We deploy significant financial and influential resources to accelerate educational programming and relevant missions. Mission: WELD develops and advances women’s leadership to strengthen the economic prosperity of the communities it serves. We provide women with specific tools to enhance their individual economic status, and we build programs, events, and a community to support female leadership development and business growth. As we use an image of Rosie the Riveter in our logo we pay tribute to the women who challenged the traditional perception of women’s capabilities in the workplace and in society. Just as Rosie the Riveter and her colleagues broke new ground, our goal is to further the issues of economic development for women in Central Ohio. During wartime the slogan was, “The More Women at Work, the Sooner We Win.” This slogan holds just as true today as it did during Rosie’s time. Opportunities: WELD develops and advances women’s leadership to strengthen the economic prosperity of the communities it serves. We do this by building programs, events, and a community to support leadership development and business growth. WELD has several speaking opportunities available every year during our programs and events. This is a great opportunity to speak to women from Central Ohio who currently hold key positions within their companies as well as those women who are on the rise.
