Finally we discuss Bruce Jenner’s transition to his new identity “Caitlyn.” How should we react to stories such as this from a Christian perspective and what does the scripture teach us? Also, did you know that ESPN honored Bruce (Caitlyn) Jenner with the “Arthur Ashe” award for courage? We compare Bruce’s “accomplishment” to that of other past winners and notice a surprising trajectory ESPN appears to be on, as well as who Tim and Len think SHOULD have won the award. The Old Testament Law was given as a forerunner to reveal the coming Messiah. It was given as a school teacher to reveal our need and lead us toward a greater focus: Jesus Christ. Paul declares in 1 Corinthians that what Jesus accomplished, purchased, and provided supersedes and is superior to the Old Testament Law. All throughout the New Testament we discover that Christians are no longer bound to the Mosaic Law but rather bound to Christ (a higher Law). The hallmark of Christianity is not circumcision or adhering to the Mosaic Law, instead we are defined by love. What have we learned in the several weeks since the “Great” theonomy debate took place in Arizona with JD Hall & Joel McDurmon?
