We’ll conclude our survey of the introductory chapters of Genesis…and, in fact, the entire Bible, by looking at the call of Abram.
We continue our survey in the beginning of “things” by looking at Genesis 11 and the story of the tower of Babel.
We continue our meditations in Paul’s second letter to his co-worker, Timothy.
We continue our meditations in Paul’s second letter to his co-worker, Timothy.
We’ll use Paul’s second letter to Timothy to conclude our winter/spring preaching series, “Making Church Work”. Our survey of this “last letter” will be brief yet profound.
As the letter of First Timothy draws to a close, Paul gives instructions on how to act as a slave or servant, good teaching, living a contented life, and guidelines/exhortation about money and the rich. These have direct transfer to our church today and help guide GBC in helping others and operating within God’s plan.
As believers, we need to live what we believe each day!
As the letter of First Timothy draws to a close, Paul gives instructions on how to treat one another, how to help widows (the poor), guidelines on dealing with elders, and some leadership tools. These have direct transfer to our church today and help guide GBC in helping others and operating within God’s plan.
1 Timothy 4:1-3 - The demonic teachings to which Paul refers were an early form of gnosticism resulting in the two extremes of asceticism and licentiousness. We'll look at the similarities between first-century cultural practices and those of today and how you can keep in step with the Spirit and avoid false teachings.
We continue our studies in 1 Timothy 3 and survey Paul’s instruction on the critical elements of Christian leadership within local gatherings of Christ-followers.
In remembrance of Jesus’ death and resurrection, we’ll use an excerpt of a 1st century hymn that Paul references that leads us to an amazing lens into the Jesus we worship.
1 Timothy 2:8-15 expresses Paul’s concern for the gatherings of Christ followers. These verses encourage believers to enter into the presence of God by means of their behavior and bearing, for there is more at stake than what appears to be the case.
1 Timothy 2 contains Paul’s clear and, at times, confusing instructions to Timothy as to how to lead the Christian community in Ephesus. This week we’ll look at the foundational truths and the way they are to function when Christians meet together (v. 1-8). Please use the readings and suggested questions to prompt your thinking and action.
We continue our studies in Paul’s first letter to Timothy by looking at the second half of chapter one (1 Tim. 1:12-20). Please use the readings and questions for your personal preparation and reflection.
We begin a new study – by looking at Paul’s instructions to another coworker, Timothy. While the content of Paul’s letter to Timothy is similar to his letter to Titus, the context is very different. So we’ll get to see how Christian leadership teaches the unchangeable truth in changing cultures.
