Jesus’ Sermon (Matthew 5-7) ends not with a flourish but with a choice... Jesus has confronted His hearers with elements of that choice all throughout His message. We'll consider the implications of this “Jesus Choice” and help us make a “wise builder” decision for our own lives.

We continue our studies in Joshua by coming to the “key battle” of the book… Jericho. Jericho occupies the central obstacle to the realization of God’s promises (to His people) and His plan (to restore morality and order) to this central part of the world.

A look around at those in touch with our church who have been courageously following Jesus in recent months. Join us for an encouraging message to persevere and trust in Jesus through the dark times.

The Israelites were “to move out from your positions and follow it [the Ark of the Covenant]… since you have never been this way before.” Are you stepping into an unknown in your life this week, this year? How can God’s leading of Israel in the land of promise encourage you to follow His presence in your life?

In Joshua 2, a new character is introduced in the story of the Promised Land and the redemption of Israel: Rahab. Now, if ever there was a sinner, Rahab was one--but she had heard of God… Not only had she heard of Him, she believed in Him, and acted on her faith. Do we believe and act on our faith??

The book of Joshua is an exciting study as 2015 begins! The process of redemption from Egypt has now led to redemption into the Promised Land. Conflict and conquest will go hand in hand as Israel struggles to possess what God had given them. Similarly, we struggle with life and sin and need God’s power daily to live a full Christian life. May God help us to learn from Joshua and to walk closer to Jesus this year!

Sometimes we are surprised when God shows up in our lives; certainly God surprised some people at the first Advent! Where has God been in 2014? When has God “showed up” in 2014? In our final sermon of the year, we will look back to see what God has done and how He has appeared in the work at GBC and in our church family. Let us be joyful as we remember God’s faithfulness and blessings, as well as look forward expectantly to 2015!

Our Advent meditations continue by considering the theme, “The Silence of Advent”. At first this idea would appear to be “at odds” with all the noise of this season but it runs through the Biblical record and helps us understand God’s great intentions for relationship with us.

The Christmas story that is so familiar to us was actually many centuries in the making. God spoke through the ancient prophets to announce how He would bring His beloved Son into the world.
