Getting to Know a Local Atheist and Musician | File Type: video/mp4 | Duration: 00:28:09

Atheists Talk cable program by Minnesota Atheists. "Getting to Know a Local Atheist and Musician" recorded 9/6/2012 Local musician Jason Tuthill discussed his intense religious upbringing. He explained his early childhood of homeschooling, memorizing bible verses, shunning evolution, and viewing household chores as working for the Lord. He recalled his family having to hold hands in a circle to pray before meals, even if such meals were taking place at a restaurant. Jason then talked about his doubts about the his church's teachings, particularly regarding dinosaurs and a supposedly loving god. Jason said he was upset that the god of the bible purportedly used the man Job - killing his children, destroying his home, and making him sick - just to prove a point. In shedding his religious upbringing, Jason's relationship with his parents and sisters has strained, but he has been able to channel his experiences into a budding music career. Jason discussed his recordings and local shows, and he performed his song "Why Do You Play God?" live in studio. His music will be available soon at http://viarockviaroll.com/ Minnesota Atheists practices positive, inclusive, active, friendly neighborhood atheism in order to: - Provide a community for atheists - Educate the public about atheism - Promote separation of state and church http://www.mnatheists.org/
