We find that we had virtually forgotten the note of each bird, and when we hear it again, it is remembered like a dream, reminding us of a previous state of existence. How happens it that the associations it awakens are always pleasing, never saddening, reminiscences of our sanest hours. The voice of nature is always encouraging.” -Henry David Thoreau(1817 - 1862

GEAR:30 Athlete, Kelly Agnew - Ultra Runner | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Kelly Agnew - Ultra Runner Follow Kelly's adventure's on his blog: "Slipping Slowly Into Pain"In his own words:Like many people, I began running later in life in an effort to lose the weight that had piled on as a result of my sedentary lifestyle. But unlike a lot of people, I developed a passion for distance running and ultimately, an unstoppable desire to be on the trails and in the mountains. And most importantly, I learned that I had the ability to run great distances, endure significant amounts of pain and to finish these brutal events near the front of the pack. What started out as a routine path to weight loss, turned into my path to competitive ultra running which opened up a whole new world to me. I have a strong desire to share this sport with other people and to help runners realize theirhidden potential. I plan to continue being an active ambassador for the sport, while promoting a healthy awareness of our role as stewards of the trails and mountains that all too often get taken for granted right here in our own back yard. I hope to achieve this through my running, racing and writing, in hopes that I can leave this sport better than I found it. - Kelly AgnewSponsors: Hammer Nutrition GEAR:30 Klymit Osprey

Greg had just over three weeks to prepare. He finished. His time, 34 hours and 40 minutes. Hear how he prepared, formed an intelligent finishing strategy, and stuck to his plan.  Greg, his wife, Kelsy, and their son, Lincoln at the Bear 100 Finish - image: Caleb Wilso
