Feedback: Bob L:  Reed, I enjoyed the podcast as usual.  I thought I would add that the gas port length is really a function of a needed pulse width in order to cycle the BCG.  For the 556.223 it is about 7-7.5 inches, measured from the gas port to the muzzle.  This is the time (pulse width) the system is under pressure...as the bullet passes the port until it exits the muzzle.  As you shorten the barrel  from rifle (20") to Carbine (16") you need to bring the port back in order to maintain the requisite 7 inch pulse width.  And yes Mid is generally used with an 18" barrel for the same reason.   Most barrel manufacturers don't give you a choice.  Exceptions exist for specific applications of course. Also many brakes do help control muzzle jump, and varmint hunters like myself use them to facilitate follow up shots when using a scope under magnification.  This is to maintain acquisition, so its not always a recoil issue.   Thanks again and keep up the good work. Joe:  I was listening to your review of apps episode & noticed you only covered Android & iPhone apps with some PC apps. Here are some Windows Phone apps I found. Firearm Record Keeping Reload Calculator Enzo P:  Hey guys, thanks so much for mentioning Enzo Rifle Works on your podcast. I wanted you to know that that grip on my Trident MK1 is a Karl Nill. Its hand made in Stuttgart Germany and takes months to get. Its walnut and is referred to as a sniper grip with palm shelf. They are $300. + or -. Its alot for a grip, but if you ever have a chance to wrap your hand around one, you will see why, and when I built the Trident we spared no expenses. http://www.nill-griffe.

Feedback: Myles:  Hello, it has really been too long since I sent in a message. Oh, before I get going I wanted to thank you for your recent interviews with the factory reps from FN and Faxon. I have been curious about the Faxon arak for years as it looks like it resolves most of my issues with the AR design. I hope to get an arak 31 not long after they become available. Especially if they decide to make their rail in Mlok (hint hint). On to the meat of the matter. This fellow Jeremy wants an AR in 7.65x54 rimmed, Russian? Well I am afraid he is out of luck. The closest such animals that I know of are the Noreen bad news rifles in 2006. Here is a crappy pic of me and muh beard holding one in 338 Lapua at the local Cabelas.  And this little number which I think is only available in Europe.  http://www.luvo.cz/products/rifles/LA-11-200.html If one wants an autoloader in this caliber I think your only options are to get a used Romanian PSL or a Molot vepr. Both are pretty uncommon.  Oh and for future episode subject matter may I suggest having a look at the sig mcx. Or perhaps a look at the new rifles by American defense. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=By5HAFE5ILU Chad:  Reed,  for putting in the front pivot pin, I use a 1/4" clevis pin that you can get from the hardware store for a couple bucks. It works just like the tool from brownells. Rusty F:  Guys thanks for your podcast and thank you to Brownells for sponsoring it. I listen via the Stitcher radio app on my Android One tip I thought I'd pass along for anybody doing home gunsmith work. Go to a local store that sells second hand sporting goods and pick up a couple of hockey pucks.

Feedback: Hugh P:  You guys should check it out the AXTS Talon safety selectors (same company that makes the Raptor charging handle). They are 45 degree and (unlike the Battle Arms ones) will work on any lower receiver. They also have the ability to be converted to standard 90 degree selectors in a few minutes (see the video on their website). I used to have the BAD sectors but have since switched over to the AXTS ones on all my AR's. Also, can you guys do a podcast on linear compensators and the current crop of muzzle device covers that mitigate side blast that accompanies compensators (FerFrans CRD, Kineti-Tech, Lantac BMD, Surefire Blast Diffuser/Warden, Griffin Armament Blast Shield, etc.)? Would be great to hear the pros and cons as well as how the covers change the effectiveness of the muzzle devices under them. Keep up the great work. Bob L:  Reed, another common and inexpensive method is to  use a clevis pin to prevent launching the spring. Clevis Pins Dan V:  Thanks for the shoutout on your show this week...I was the guy that recommended adding the search function to your site to help other listeners find episodes, etc.  Wow...should something that helpful be recognized???  Gee you guys just mentioned ar cleaning kits piled to the sky at the secret headquarters.  Feel free to send one along to me to make more space for your quality programming… @lendichtel: @enzorifleworks: @dylan.h.cave: Upgrade! Upgrade! Upgrade!  On the best day of the week too.  now it’s time for some range time.  Thanks for the excellent article on muzzle devices @guntruth. @bigbiller: For some reason, I left laughing out loud by myself.  Connecting w/148 and 248 yd steel targets through iron sights w/rusty Tula .223 through the M&P consistently w/ease was apparently humorous.

Feedback: Kyle:  I tried to zero out the AR this weekend. Apparently it shoots to the left as I had to adjust the rear sight to the right. Is this common? Should I try to adjust the front sight post or is it not worth the hassle? Currently using an f marked front  sight and A2 style rear detachable carry handle. I would appreciate any information you have available. Shawn, St. Louis:  Hey guys, love listening to the ar15 podcast during my free time.  For me the best part of your show is having real industry speakers on your show vs guys that just like to shoot. It really helps me narrow down the best products for the ar15. You do an excellent job of asking a good informative questions when interviewing.  Keep up the good work. DW Taylor:  A few weeks back I had asked about the 6.5 Grendel. Since then, I have discovered your search engine. Using that I found the old podcasts that went into detail on the 6.5 caliber. Thanks for being proactive and having those in the library for me to review. I am slowly working my way through the backlog of older podcasts. I would prefer to do this on Stitcher, but they don’t go back too far. I use my PC for the earlier ones. My first AR15 is the S&W MP15 Sport. I let some friends give it a try as I was working on my handgun skills. They burned through 9, 30 round magazines in about 20 minutes. How hot will a barrel get after this much rapid fire? What will this do the barrel? Can the barrel handle this rate of fire, or will it wear, loose strength, accuracy, etc. It isn’t a match-grade barrel, so I am not as concerned with sub-MOA groupings, but just an overall understanding of what a black rifle can be expected to take.  After all, we own them so we can shoot them, right?
