Don't Forget the Past
The Word of God does the work of God. This teaching is on how God’s Word shows us the need to learn from history; if not, we are bound to repeat it. Just 2 months after they rebuilt the wall of Jerusalem God’s people were home. The people gathered to gain insight into God’s Word as Erza continues his public reading from the Torah, the first 5 books of the Bible. Quickly the power of His Word begins a revival among the people because they understand. Their desires are to do what they had not done for 1000 years; understand the important history of the Feast of Tabernacles and how the prayer lifted up to the “Lord THEIR God” instructs, teaches, reminds, blesses, praises and worships Him for His love.

Studying this passage we get a wonderfully lucid and inclusive teaching on what to look for in any Christian Leader. From the teaching of this passage, we learn there are 8 key principles in Nehemiah’s leadership behavior. Pastor Mark opens with a description of a “Christian leader who does not live above his people, and then touching on a godly leader that always “surrounds himself with good counsel;” who then can be counted on to, “continue to sacrifice to meet the needs of others.” Nehemiah lead by example; he placed his people’s needs before his own. To we modern “sheep,” a true Christian Leader listens and lives life shoulder–to-shoulder. He prays for and weeps with his people. He is tireless, loyal, and faithful to defend them; he warns as he walks through life’s difficulties alongside the very people he is responsible for, and sacrifices himself for to our heavenly Father’s glory!
