Kimberly Tessmer covers this important and often not spoke about problem.  BD isn't a disease but rather the umbrella term for two major intestinal disorders that might sound more familiar: ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease. Both deal with inflammation in the digestive tract that can produce a wide range of unpleasant symptoms and lead to other health conditions. Before Pat became the Sports Community Chaplain he was my mentor and still is today! Pat Teague is our Sports Community Chaplain to private and public schools, including local universities, where our students attend. CROSSING THE BLUE WILLOW BRIDGE A Journey to My Daughter's Birthplace in China Nancy McCabe CROSSING THE BLUE WILLOW BRIDGE opens with a ten-year-old Sophie who wears black nail polish, sneaks eyeliner, wears clothing decorated with skulls, and has mixed feelings about being one of the few non-white children in the little Pennsylvania town where they lives.  Since she was young, Sophie had felt a closeness to the country of her birth and held it in an idealized light.  At ten, she began referring to herself as Asian instead of Asian-American.  It was McCabe's hope that visiting China would "help her become more comfortable with both sides of the hyphen, figure out how to be both Chinese and American, together." CHILD-SIZED HISTORY: Fictions of the Past in U.S. Classrooms - Sara Schwebel For more than three decades, teachers have been teaching the same children's historical novels in their classrooms, books like Johnny Tremain, The Witch of Blackbird Pond, Island of the Blue Dolphins, and Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry. Unlike school textbooks, which are replaced on regular cycles and subjected to public tugs-of-war between the Left and Right, historical novels have simply - and quietly - endured. "As literature, the books stimulate children's imagination, transporting them into the American past and projecting them into an American future," explains Sara Schwebel, author of CHILD-SIZED HISTORY. "But as works of historical interpretation, many appear startlingly out of step with current historiography and social sensibilities, especially with regards to race." In her new book, Schwebel traces the formation and impact of this canon and also provides practical guidelines for how to use this historical fiction in the classroom to deepen historical understanding. ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Sara L. Schwebel is Assistant Professor of English Language and Literature at the University of South Carolina. She received her PhD in the History of American Civilization from Harvard University and has taught middle school English and history in Connecticut and Virginia. I don't normally discuss political issues but since we are heading into elextions I wanted to hear what Trita had to say.  I know I stick with physical, mental and spiritual health but issues like this can effect our health if we fret over it. Trita Parsi says that just 12 minutes into his presidency, in his inaugural address, Barack Obama extended a hand to Iran, expressing his willingness to talk and his desire for improved relations. It marked a dramatic change in tone from the Bush administration and reflected Obama's genuine desire to use diplomacy to defuse an enmity three decades in the making. Yet nearly three years into Obama's presidency, the relationship with Iran remains hostile, Iran's nuclear program has moved forward, and military intervention seems increasingly likely.
