Nell Stephenson teamed up with Dr. Loren Cordain, PhD and Lorrie Cordain to produce The Paleo Diet Cookbook. She studied Exercise Science at USC, followed by culinary school. She worked as a private fitness trainer and then later as a nutritional consultant. Nell now owns and operates her paleo nutritional counseling business online with clients around the globe to help them learn how to easily implement the principles of the Paleo diet into their lives: effectively, efficiently and permanently. Dr. Brandon Marcello is the Director of Sports Performance at Stanford University. His role is to oversee all aspects of athletic performance enhancement for the 35 intercollegiate sports. Acting as the chief administrator for the Sports Performance department, Marcello's responsibilities include, but are not limited to, budget oversight, facility design and equipment layout, nutritional strategies, staff development, and to direct methodology. Marcello brings over 14 years of experience in the area of athletic performance enhancement to the Farm. Marcello most recently served as the Director of Performance for USA Softball. Hand picked by Coach Mike Candrea, Marcello developed and implemented all athletic development programs for the 2008 Silver Medal US Olympic Softball team, 2007 Gold Medal Pan American team and 2006 Gold Medal World Championship team. Prior to his arrival at Stanford, Marcello served as the Speed and Conditioning Coach for the Baylor University Women's Softball Team. Under his guidance, the Bears set the Big 12 stolen base record and achieved over 550 stolen bases for four consecutive years. During his tenure at Baylor, the Lady Bears produced three NSCA Strength and Conditioning All-Americans, won their first Big 12 title and made their first appearance in the NCAA Women's College World Series. George Bartzokis received an M.D. degree from Yale University in 1983. He completed an internship at the UCLA/West Los Angeles V.A. Medical Center, and a residency in psychiatry at the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute. In 1987, Dr. Bartzokis joined the UCLA Department of Psychiatry as an Assistant Clinical Professor while also completing a schizophrenia research fellowship in the UCLA Department of Psychology, and serving as a Staff Psychiatrist at the West Los Angeles V.A. Medical Center. In 1989, he was the recipient of a Career Development Award from the Department of Veterans Affairs Research Service at the West Los Angeles V.A. Medical Center, and for two years served as an Associate Investigator. In 1998, Dr. Bartzokis moved to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock as an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and Director of the Office of Psychopharmaceutical Trials. During this time, he was also the Associate Chief of Staff for mental health at the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System. Dr. Bartzokis returned to UCLA in 2001, joining the Department of Neurology where he is currently Director of the UCLA Memory Disorders and Alzheimer’s Disease Clinic, Director of the Clinical Core at the UCLA Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center, Professor of Neurology, and faculty in the Laboratory of Neuroimaging, Division of Brain Mapping. Dr. Bartzokis also hold a concurrent appointment as professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at the Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science in Los Angeles.
