She also journeyed with her mother and mother-in-law through their adventures in aging, and her academic interest in aging led her to receive a Professional Advancement Certificate in Gerontology. Nancy and her husband, Jim, live in Colorado Springs, CO. They have four adult children, 12 grandchildren and two cats in their blended family. Her new book is called, The Hope of Glory: A Devotional Guide for Older Adults. S.A.J. Lyttek, an award winning writer, has always loved to write, but didn’t arrive at the profession in the typical manner. Graduating with a B.A. in International Economics and an M.A. in Management and Supervision, she plunged into government consulting. In this environment, she discovered a knack for writing tests, interviews and other measurements. Soon, that became the focus of her career—reigniting her love for the written word. She began to spend her nights freelancing with “fun” writing including short stories, poems, articles and cards. In 1995, she quit the 9-5 work world to stay home, write and raise her young son. She has also developed and taught writing classes to her local homeschool groups. Since their inception, she has been a writing coach for WriteAtHome.com.  Married to her childhood sweetheart, Gary, Mrs. Lyttek loves to share her commitment to homeschoolers and her fascination with the written word. Her newest book is evidence to this, Guzzy Goofball and the Homeschool Play from Outer Space.

Christian Devotions Speak UP! REBROADCAST Julie Elias | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:32:00

Join us this week on Christian Devotions SPEAK UP! as host Scott McCausey is joined by  Recording Artist Julie Elias. Elias' career spanned various facets of the arts, from leading worship to musical theater, to fully embracing her call to become a recording artist. Though she's wholeheartedly committed to help listeners tap into their God-ordained purpose, she didn't arrive at her current calling overnight. In fact, her performance path looked completely different just two years ago when the Nevada native found herself in Hollywood pursuing work in film and television. A Christmas trip to her hometown in 2010 caused Elias to reexamine her career options. "It took a seemingly routine Christmas concert that year for me to realize what I've been called to do. As Elias gears up to make her mark on the modern day music scene with her engaging songwriting style and fresh pop/rock sound—influenced by Amy Grant, Natalie Merchant, Carrie Underwood, and Sheryl Crow, she's committed to spreading faith-affirming messages that are just as uplifting to believers as they are inspiring to seekers.

Christian Devotions Speak UP! REBROADCAST Marc Eckel | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:25:00

Join us this week on Christian Devotions SPEAK UP! as host Scott McCausey is joined by Splat Experience Artist Marc Eckel in segment one, followed by Recording Artist Julie Elias in segment two. Marc Eckel was an illustrator for General Motors in the Detroit area in 2000 when he was asked to creative an image on an eight-foot canvas as a backdrop for special music at the Troy Baptist Church in Troy, Michigan. He was given three minutes to complete the task. With very limited time, he chose to bypass using paint brushes, using his bare hands to throw paint on the canvas. In 2002, after moving to northern Indiana, he was asked to think of something to add to the church Easter program at the First Baptist Church of Pierceton. A similar painting was created, which led to the start of Splat Experience, a Christian Performance Art Ministry, now a ministry division of Blue Spaghetti, LLC, a creative arts company. Marc's wife, Julie, is the ministry's business manager.
