Message for 07.01.12 :: In spite of Solomon's frustration, he still recognized the importance of friendship and community. This message looks at the benefits of community. We'll celebrate where we've been and look forward to the future with vision and anticipation.

Message for 06.24.12 :: Sometimes it seems like the world has gone crazy. We see injustice everywhere. Apart from God, things are in a desperate state of affairs. But, through faith, we learn of a God who is just and calls us to defend the defenseless. In this message, we look at how we can move beyond cynicism and paralysis and step out, making our own large or small contribution on behalf of others.

Message for 06.17.12 :: We often fight desperately against the limitations of time. We schedule it, manipulate it, and try to squeeze more out of it. We deny it, run from it, and seek to beat it. But time is a gift. Solomon reminds us there is a "time for everything." Apart from God this can seem very discouraging, but through faith we learn to embrace our limitations and the seasons as God brings them. We learn to stop fighting time and start getting the most from the season in which we find ourselves. In this message, we explore many of the seasons Solomon describes in chapter 3 and provide practical encouragement for thriving in them.

Message for 06.10.12 :: Everyone has to deal with the bully called "sin." The problem is we can't beat that bully on our own! We need a Savior to come in and protect us from this unbeatable enemy. The cool thing is that God wants to do exactly that. In this message, we are joined by Guest Speaker Grant Fishbook. Together, we explore how Christ proved he wanted to be our Savior by beating the bullies of sin and death through the cross.

Message for 06.03.12 :: God made the greatest satisfaction guaranteed offer in history when he sent Jesus to satisfy the penalty for our sins. Thanks to his awesome sacrifice, we are guaranteed forgiveness, eternal life, and renewed purpose each day through faith in him. One of the most powerful ways we show this faith is through baptism, uniting us with the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. In this message, we consider baptism and the importance of taking this step of faith.

Message for 05.27.12 :: God is a God who works. He created work and blessed it. And work itself is a gift. God never cursed work in Genesis; he cursed the ground that Adam would work. But all work and no perspective leads to burn out. Solomon threw himself into work as an end to itself and ended up burned out. In this message, we explore how we can invite God into our job - literally into over one-third of our lives. We look at how performing even the most unremarkable tasks for God's glory can fill them with purpose. We discover what it means to do every task "unto God."

Message for 05.20.12 :: When 24 people gathered in Odd Fellows Hall for the first official service of Central Christian Church 50 years ago, no one could have predicted what would happen. They didn't have a pastor or resources or anything other than a God who proved himself to be more than enough. Only God could take a handful of people and influence hundreds of thousands. Only God can lead us into the future to our best days, which still lie ahead...

Message for 05.13.12 :: Moms are wonderful, and they are known for warning about the abuse of things with phrases like, "Don't overdo it!" and "Be careful!" and "Watch yourself!" They often try to help us see how things taken to the extreme can damage us. In the Bible, we see Solomon on the pursuit of pleasure. He searches everywhere for more to give his life meaning and it comes up empty. In this message, we see how we can experience the gift of pleasure and desire by first saying "yes" to God and experience everything in life as a gift.

Message for 05.06.12 :: The Rolling Stones made it famous - "I can't get no satisfaction..." - but Solomon implied it long before that, in Ecclesiastes. Where do we find satisfaction in life? Where can we discover meaning? In this message, we explore how the Bible shows the way by pointing us to a deeper relationship with God.
