 FDR3638 My Boyfriend Left Me For A Man - Call in Show - March 30th, 2017 | File Type: audio/mp3 | Duration: 189:55

Question 1: [1:57] – “We started delving into your work. When covering your arguments regarding Atheism, we found issues with parts of your logic. We have built an argument which we hope clearly establishes a framework which highlights a distinction between ‘that which we can relate to’ and ‘that which is unrelatable.’ In the light of this distinction, the contradictions of your arguments are manifest. Below you will find our argument, your arguments, our understanding of your argument, and a succinct articulation of the contradiction. We are very interested to start a dialogue in the hopes of contributing to the general progression of philosophy as a whole.”“Relation vs Non-Relation Argument : 1) Truth is derived from necessity. 2) Necessity is coherent. 3) Coherence is meaning. 4) Meaning is knowledge. 5) We can know something to be true if and only if it is necessarily true. 6) Humans relate to that which is discrete. 7) Humans faculties can directly process and derive meaning from that which is discrete. 8) Humans have direct access to true knowledge about that which they can relate utilizing their faculties. 9) That which is not discrete, humans can not relate. 10) Truth is not contingent upon relatability. 11) Humans can abstract about that which they cannot relate. 12) Humans have indirect access to true knowledge about that which they cannot relate utilizing necessary truths about abstractions.”Question 2: [1:36:10] - “As a woman in my early 30’s (having recently had a 9 year relationship come to an end when my partner ‘came out’ as gay) I am very quickly getting up to speed with my own self knowledge and an understanding of my childhood through therapy. I am increasingly aware of the huge pressure I am under should I wish to have a future with marriage and children - however I can see I still have a way to go in regards to the building my self esteem and therefore my ability to have a stable and intimate relationship. I would like to know your thoughts on the inverse relationship between my self knowledge and my ‘market value’ - as I am aware that the longer I take to build my self esteem the more my market value is in decline. How do I approach this going forward to ensure that I get what I want from my future?”Question 3: [ 2:07:02] - "If Rock n Roll is usually associated with freedom and rebellion, why do artists and fans have a tendency to be on the left? Isn't that an indication that people don't really know what they stand for?"Question 4: [2:24:55] - “I’ve come to realize many things about myself, the most recent discovery being that although I am someone of high intelligence and industriousness, I have low conscientiousness, particularly when it comes to tasks that I feel have any obligation attached to them, even if it is self-imposed. For example, as a professional musician I recorded my third solo album, then procrastinated on releasing it for 6 months, then released it with no promotional effort. I built a freestanding recording studio with my own hands, with no prior trade skills, and as soon as I moved in and started using it, I started losing interest in recording, even though it’s been a life long dream of mine to have this facility. I then wrote my first philosophical science fiction novel and recently self-published it. Although I am immensely proud of the book and getting overwhelming positive feedback from readers, I am finding it hard to find motivation to promote it properly and give it its best shot at success.”“I would like to try and gain greater understanding of the part of me that puts up motivational roadblocks and prevents me from taking my visions all the way to the success that I believe they deserve. Why do I work so hard, come so far, and then quit and move on to the next big dream?”Your support is essential to Freedomain Radio, which is 100% funded by viewers like you.  FDR3631 Failing At Life With A Smile On Your Face - Call in Show - March 23rd, 2017 | File Type: audio/mp3 | Duration: 140:53

Question 1: [2:44] - “As a manager in a global Financial Services business that employees over 200k people and has revenues of over $29bn US Dollars, I have seen a huge focus develop on ‘Gender Equality’, meaning that there are a number of initiatives and programs aimed at getting more women into senior positions in the firm, where they are statistically under represented. Do you think that such initiatives are valuable and, if so, what role can / should men play in supporting them? I ask as I while I am very ‘pro-equality’, through my work with the Women’s Network, I have increasingly heard phrases like “white men just don’t get it” and ‘there are too many pale, male and stale decision makers’ which makes me ask – is there an enormous double standard developing?”Question 2: [54:14] - “I just listened to ‘Your Job Is To Get Married And Have Children’ through your YouTube channel, and I would be very interested to explore an idea with you: Is any man out there in a traditional career really able to plan for the future? Many have educational debts and no streams of passive income. Jobs are disappearing, and as Boomers retire, many of their jobs are going with them. Also, how can a moral man work in a regulated sector of business? Doesn't making more dollars just make the government rich while its subjects trade their health and sanity for it? Doesn't this just feed into this atrocity that is mandatory healthcare? Isn't it the duty of someone who sees these problems to allow this situation to fall apart?”Question 3: [1:34:31] - "How can we bring science back from the cult of diversity? I recently received feedback on my National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program application, and one part of the review struck me as quite interesting. It reads 'The applicant served as a Teaching Assistant for an introductory AI course and as an Instructor for a summer camp designed to expose elementary school-aged kids to robotics. The applicant expects to serve as a TA during graduate school, but it is unclear how, if at all, he plans to participate in activities that specifically seek to broaden the inclusion of women and underrepresented minorities in CS and STEM.' While I ended up leaving graduate school anyway, I think this particular quote illustrates a larger problem in the scientific community: an over emphasis on diversity of skin color, gender, etc. among the ranks of scientists as opposed to actual scientific progress. Now that academia, even in the sciences, has transitioned into essentially an arm of the government, what can be done to push back and restore science to its intended purpose?"Question 4: [1:52:56] - “I am a second-year student at University. I am double majoring, one being philosophy, the other not yet determined. My passion is philosophy, but I know that this major does not translate directly into many jobs - realistically we can't all hope to run something like Freedomain Radio. I understand that integrating philosophy into one's daily life can have an impact, however I see the only proper role of a true philosopher to be philosophizing - that is, teaching, in some sense. Does Stefan have any advice in terms of breaking into the marketplace of ideas? Good ideas are a start, but surely there is more to it than that?”Freedomain Radio is 100% funded by viewers like you.  FDR3630 Triggered Goalpost Moving - Call in Show - March 22nd, 2017 | File Type: audio/mp3 | Duration: 165:41

Question 1: [2:07] - “I had a really great childhood, and I think I've made it to adulthood pretty successfully. I am happily married to a wonderful man and have extremely high hopes for our future. However, in the first months of my marriage, I was so frustrated during an argument with my husband that I scratched his face and left a mark. I haven't done it again, but I don't ever want a repeat. Can you help me uncover where this propensity for violence is coming from, before we bring children into this house?”Question 2: [1:18:57] - “With the corruption and hypocrisy in the Catholic Church (e.g., Vatican City holding the most restrictive immigration policy, Pope Francis often contradicting doctrines, parishes adapting to political agendas), how can I believe in Catholicism as the true religion? Is it too naïve to think the corruption can be fixed?”Question 3: [1:45:25] - “Capitalism is best at dealing with things where the cost and benefits are measured in money. Socialism is best at dealing with things where the cost and benefits are measured in human lives. For example, Socialism is bad at running a for profit business. Capitalism is bad at running your local police department and court system. Since, in effect, every form of government is on some level, a form of socialism, is it possible to ever get the right balance of Capitalism and Socialism in a society, and if so, what might it look like? If not, why is it doomed to fail?”Question 4: [2:16:58] - I'm a 38-year-old single dad of two young boys, and I find myself starting to despise women. I'm not quite sure why, but I see what they're doing to the country, how feminism and ‘progressive’ beliefs are detrimental to not only men, but the nation. How can I avoid imposing my beliefs on women and liberals as a whole on my two young sons?”Freedomain Radio is 100% funded by viewers like you.
