The Spell of the Shattered Sight may have been undone, but that doesn't mean they're going to leave a happily ever after now. Regina asked Robin to go and never come back; Belle finally saw the beast behind the man for the first time; and in an attempt to get his own happy ending, Rumplestiltskin made a fatal mistake that thwarted his future plans of a new life with Belle.

As soon as the Spell of Shattered Sight hits, the residents of Storybrooke started turning against each other, making them hurt everyone verbally and physically. Meanwhile, Elsa and Emma finds a way to free themselves not only of the ribbons that tie them with Ingrid, but the town as well from the hideous spell. In the past, however, young Emma was sent in a new home where she finds what would have been the best big sister she could ever have, only to discover that it was the same person that would want to turn her into a nutjob.

The Spell of Shattered Sight is in full effect, making the residents of Storybrooke see clearly, behave in their worst selves and turn against each other. Can Emma and Elsa bring back the happy endings? Meanwhile, in the Land Without Magic of the past, Ingrid showed young Emma that she's a special girl and that she can be the best big sister that she could ever hope for.

As the town of Storybrooke awaits the Spell of the Shattered Sight to hit, the Charmings, Regina, Elsa, Belle and the fairies prepare to make sure they are away from the people they love so they won't hurt each other. But with Elsa finally finding Anna's necklace, their quest to saving the town was split in two where they have to make a hard decision—save the town or find the sister? And while the Snow Queen's spell may have worn off in Arendelle and Anna and Kristoff, as well as everyone else, were thawed, the kingdom may once again be in trouble as Prince Hans stepped over as the new benevolent king of Arendelle.

The Charmings, Elsa, and Regina rally everyone to get as far away as possible as the Spell of Shattered Sight approaches Storybrooke, or risk bringing out the darkness in everyone, making them tear each other apart by sundown. Meanwhile, in Arendelle, the idiot from Southern Isles is back and stepped off as the new Arendelle benevolent leader.

With Emma's powers getting out of control and hiding from everyone else, Rumplestiltskin took advantage of the situation by leading her in the abandoned manor to help Emma with her affliction. Robin Hood, meanwhile, employed Will Scarlet to try to help Regina in finding the author of the storybook, only to find out that Regina may not be doomed to suffer after all. Back in Arendelle during the past, Ingrid did whatever it takes to get her happy ending—the kind she haven't known for a long time, even if it means embracing the villainess inside of her, leading her to cultivate and casting a spell very much like the Ancient Norse legend in her book.

Emma struggles as her powers continue to go haywire, pushing her to seek help from Mr. Gold. But can Rumplestiltskin really help, or will he just make things worse? In the past, the Snow Queen tries to pit the Arendelle sisters against each other. Will she succeed? Or does Anna and Elsa's sisterly bond stronger than she thinks? Determined to get answers from the Snow Queen, Emma interrogated her privately after finally capturing the Snow Queen with Elsa's aid. But before she could even make dairy queen spill, the Snow Queen showed her instead that every family has their ups and downs and that both of them just might feel the same—different, misunderstood, alone. Meanwhile, Robin Hood forgot how truthful, righteous and good he was despite Regina constantly reminding him that he should forget about her and find a way to fall in love with his wife again. In Arendelle of the past, however, Ingrid gave up the silly little things she and her sisters wore since they were children as an exchange of goods, not realizing that the fail safe will be her worst nightmare.

Emma and Elsa finally captured the Snow Queen but just as she was about to find out why the Snow Queen wants to be sister-buddies with her, the ice queen herself showed Emma who she really is instead. Meanwhile, in Arendelle of the past, young Ingrid accidentally hurt her sisterly pack, causing her to experience a fate befitting a monster.

As the Charmings, Regina, Robin Hood and Captain Guyliner split up to find more about the Snow Queen's plans, Belle and Rumplestiltskin headed to the North Woods where the Snow Queen is hiding, only to catch a glimpse of herself in the mirror that turned her against her own self. Meanwhile back in the past, Belle traveled to Arendelle to find the rock trolls to hopefully unveil her lost memories of her mother's passing with Anna, who finally met her aunt Ingrid, who was trying to warm her way into the family.

Eager to find more about the Snow Queen's connection with Emma, the Storybrooke heroes assemble a search party in the North Woods where the Snow Queen is hiding. Meanwhile, in Arendelle of the past, Belle journeyed with the Princess of Arendelle to find the creatures that can restore her lost memories of her mother's death.

In order to find answers about a photo of a conversation that Emma had with Sarah Fisher, Emma paid Regina a visit down her vault while Her Majesty was busy trying to save her true love's wife. Meanwhile the Snow Queen preyed on Elsa's weakness by luring her east of the Toll Bridge, allowing Regina and Emma to finally have each other's back. A few years ago in Hopkins, Minnesota, on the other hand, young Emma found a friend in Lily, a one-of-a-kind orphan girl who made her feel special for a while. While Regina's busy thawing her true love's wife, Emma paid her an unpleasant surprise visit for a walk through north, then east of the Toll Bridge that led them to teaming up against the Snow Queen's theatrics. In 1998 in Hopkins, Minnesota, however, a young Emma met an orphan girl who made her feel less invisible.

In the Enchanted Forest of the past, meanwhile, the Dark One sent Anna to the hooves of the alleged devour of children where the Sorcerer's Apprentice resides, enabling him to take away the most precious thing in the world and turn it into a weapon—love.

In order to get answers about her parent's quest to Mist Haven, Anna made a deal with Rumplestiltskin, where the Dark One sent her to the alleged devour of children to acquire a magical box from a prickly old man. Will she embrace her inner darkness? Or is she too nice to heed the Dark One's deal? At present in Storybrooke, however, Emma and Killian's first real date was interrupted with the Captain's worse nightmare when he made a deal with the Mr. Gold to reattach the very thing that gives him permission to be the man he once was.
