In the episode, "Birth", Hook seeks the Dark Swan to figure out what really happened between them in Camelot, while Zelena's pregnancy magically accelerated. Three weeks back in Camelot, Emma was forced to ignite the spark to save her family and loved one. Meanwhile, in "The Bear King", Merida finally learned the truth about her father's death with the help of the Witch's guard dog and the little lady who can't be pushed around.

Meanwhile, hundreds of years ago before Arthur's time, Merlin met a young woman who ran away from a masked man who ransacked her town and killed everyone, not knowing that the young woman will be the one from whom all the other evil will be born.

Six weeks ago in Camelot, Merida led the clever one on a dangerous adventure to save her brother's fate. Doesn't changing one's own fate means that she's controlling what her fate would be? Back at the present, however, Rumplestiltskin led Belle away from their quivered friend, who was tasked by the Dark Swan to put an arrow to her heart. But who is Nimue? In order to remind Rumplestiltskin what he has to fight for, Emma ordered Merida to put an arrow to Belle's heart. Meanwhile, six weeks ago in Camelot, Merida brought Belle along to a dangerous journey to change her brother's fate and prove to the United Clans of DunBroch that they mess with the wrong queen.

Who was the Dark One behind the mask that turned Merlin into a tree? Is Emma's heart ready to be rid of the darkness, or is she starting to like the taste of darkness already? In Camelot, six weeks ago, King Arthur and Charming went on a quest together as brothers to help find a way to talk to Merlin, whereas in Storybrooke at present, the Dark Swan went shopping for something with an edge in a desperate attempt to pull the sword out of the stone.

Was it really Merlin that was trapped in the tree or was someone else in it? Is Violet all innocent that she appears to be? Is Emma intentionally wreaking havoc in Storybrooke to force everyone to save themselves instead of relying to her all the time? Are Arthur and Guinevere hiding something? As Regina, Mary Margaret, David, Hook and Henry continues to figure out what happened in the last six weeks, the Dark Swan warned Regina that there's a problem headed in Storybrooke that only a Savior can solve. Can Regina protect the town from Emma? Will they trust her? Back in Camelot, however, Regina steps up to dress up a little less evil and look a little more like the Savior.

In a desperate attempt to find Emma, Hook resorted into a dangerous way to find her, assigning the newly-appointed Author, Henry to break Zelena out of her new home. In the Enchanted Forest, however, Emma was being guided by a strange voice in her wee head, inching her to start behaving like a Dark One. In order to desperately rid of the dark magic she was cursed with, Emma made her first magical transportation to find Merlin, where she first me Merida. Will Emma let the darkness consume her?
