Some notes on the election’s first week, more on The Oz vs a private individual, Australia vs Humanity and a few bits of entitlement.
More Briggs, Dutton and general horror from our Federal Government. Any audio quality issues this week are the fault of your hosts, not our gallant editor. Sorry.
Briggs, Brough, Gonski. With guest Jeremy Preston Towers.
This weekend, on SW: Terrible Policy Corner is unsurprised by the Coalition’s plan to respond to the budget worsening under their control (SPOILER: its first order is to force choke the poor and sick. not to lead a resistance against the very profitable companies paying no tax); travels far, far away to Paris; and touches on the revelations from the Victorian Auditor General about how the East West Link was a corrupt boondoggle even less well thought through than a planet-destroying battlestation with an unshielded exhaust port; Good Policy Corner is surprised by even existing, but yes, there is a Rey of light here. In The Focus Group we admire another great week for Julie Bishop; Bill Shorten being noticed but not in a good way; the Liberals Strike Back against the ASIO chief; and we learn of Joe Hockey’s plans to At Last Have His Revenge; In Australia vs Humanity it turns out we should have a bad feeling not just about the brutality of what we’re doing to refugees, but MYEFO reveals a $1bn blowout in how much it’s costing us (when will this hideous policy Finnish?); Stop The Press: there are disturbances at the top of The Australian as well as the ABC; and the Oz and Bill Leak refuse to Leia off on racist cartoons.
Delusion reigns, ideas boom, Stop the Press.
The Liberal Party fall apart, Brough, Ashby, Tony, Julie. Australia vs Humanity. Jeremy keeps interrupting as Dave explains why Obi Wan Kenobi might be the villain in Star Wars.
