Phuture Frequency

This is my first mix for a while featuring just new music that I’ve picked up. I’ve been buying new Drum & Bass less regularly and struggling to find new material that I find meets my standards and tastes. The sheer volume, in particular of digital releases is ridiculous with quality control seemingly having gone out the window. I’ll keep faith with the music I love as long as there are tunes released like those featured in this set. Back to 2005-2006 for this mix, a period which saw my heavily under the influence of the Drumfunk/Choppage sounds. This rough and ready mix saw me pulling for a number of tunes on leading labels such as Bassbin and Outsider which delivered one quality release after another laced with fantastic beat production. This mix goes out to all those who remember midweek nights at Herbal for Technicality and to the Rupture crew who continuously deliver the highest standard of night out in London for real Drum & Bass lovers. Taking a deeper approach this month with a house inspired mix. Most (in fact all) these artists were new to me except Four Tet. But all share a deepness to their production that focuses on taking you on a journey. I'm no house expert so I have no idea what style it is (or if it is even indeed house). All I can really tell you is that these are beautiful tunes that will have you nodding your head and drifting away. So strap on your headphones, turn it up and travel the four four highway. This is my 100th podcast for Phuture Frequency! It’s taken me a while to get it recorded but finally it’s done. I toyed with a lot of different ideas to make the selection a bit special but settled on picking tunes from 2007 to the present day, my period recording for the site. As I hate to plan I quickly went through and drew out about 100 records and had my CD books to hand then rolled out for 2 hours.
