S0941 Pastor John begins this section of Revelation with a look back to the book Ezekiel. Ezekiel prophesies of the anti-Christ and his rise to power in the end times. People will be drawn to his lies because they have willfully ignored the truth. We must not allow our hearts to grow cold by rejecting the truth of salvation in Jesus Christ.

S0932 God directs the apostle John to write a letter to each of the seven churches in Asia addressing their present state. The first letter is to be written to the church in Ephesus exhorting the church to return to it's first love, Jesus Christ.

S0950 For the saints there are rewards. The Bible also calls these rewards for serving the Lord and His people, "crowns". There is the "crown of glory" spoken of in 1Pet. 5:4, that we will receive when the Lord appears. There is the "crown of life" in James 1:12 for resisting temptation. 2Tim. 4:8 speaks of the "crown of righteousness" for those who look forward to the 2nd coming of the Lord. 1Cor. tell us that we will receive an "imperishable crown" for running the race. And there is the "soul winner's crown" for sowing and reaping in the lives of those who come to the Savior.

S0951 This chapter is a chapter of "signs" as stated in verses 1 and 3. Much of it is "symbolic" in nature. Chapter 12 is also a chapter of "great" things. We will see phrases like "a great wonder" in verse 1, and "a great red dragon" in verse 3, "great wrath" in verse 12, and "two wings of a great eagle" in verse 14 The first "sign" we see in chapter 12 is "a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a garland of twelve stars".

S0952 The beast is a man and that man has a name. His name has a numerical equivalent. We are told to count the number of this man’s name. In English this seems weird, but in the Hebrew or the Greek language and in some cases Latin, it is not strange at all. You see, each symbol used for the alphabet was also used for a number. For example, in Latin V=five, X=10, L=50, and so on. In Greek, the language of the New Testament, alpha = 1, beta = 2, iota = 10, rho = 100. To “count” the number of the beast one would simply add up the numbers attached to the letters in his name. Who is this man? No one knows for sure.

S0953 In chapter 13, the scene was the earth and the “deluge” of satan, the beast, and the false prophet. chapter 14, is much different. It is a vision of heavenly announcements and heavenly beings. Chapter 14 can be summed up with Psalm 37:35, 39-40 (NKJV) 35 I have seen the wicked in great power, And spreading himself like a native green tree.. . . . 39 But the salvation of the righteous is from the LORD; He is their strength in the time of trouble. 40 And the LORD shall help them and deliver them; He shall deliver them from the wicked, And save them, Because they trust in Him.

S0954 The Priests had to wash to be ceremonially clean before coming before the Lord. And you and I must be “washed” in the blood of Jesus before we can come before Him. EVERYONE must stand before the judgment seat of the Lord. Christians are cleansed by the blood of the Lamb and therefore able to stand the fire of His judgment. It is for the unsaved that the next 7 plagues are intended. You see, if we do not accept Jesus as Lord and Savior, then we must face Him as God and Judge. And at this point in the tribulation, the world is experiencing the full force of His wrath.

S0955 The effect of these Bowl Judgments on the earth is catastrophic. Mountains are leveled. Islands are either removed or became a part of the earth’s land mass. Even Jerusalem is divided into three parts while every other great nation is destroyed. Babylon, the city of the beast and the false prophet come before the Lord for judgment, and much blood is shed in the final battle. During this same time period, men and women are being pelted by stones falling from the sky with the weight of approximately 100 pounds each. But notice the hardness of men's hearts: They cursed God instead of repenting.
