The 2013 Kaiser Permanente Pasadena Rock n Roll Half Marathon was a fantastic race.  On a beautiful Sunday morning in southern California we ran 13.1 miles with 7,000 friends.  Deena Kastor was on the course with us and she was remarkable.  You'll hear from a woman who has been trying to beat Joe in a race all year, someone who has run 50 consecutive Rock n Roll races and a woman who swears by her Tour Pass, plus many more interviews.  Joe also leads a cultural discussion about Italian cities, how to increase increase margins in your business and Argentinian cuisine.  These and many other sites and sounds prompt fun discussions about running and non running topics.  You'll also hear about an amazing group of children who raised money for other children with special needs.

What goals have you set for 2013?  Listen in as the audience tells you what they have in store for the coming year.  You'll hear about people that want to finish their first race of a new distance - in some cases 13.1 miles in other cases 100 miles.  Some people want to add more cross training, take up triathlons or add mountain biking to their routine.  Some good ideas are in here.  Maybe you'll add a trail run one day a week, promise to never miss a running day for any reason or commit to stop making yourself poor from races.  Joe adds plenty of color around the people, their goals, where they live, where they've come from and much more.  It's a fun look at 2013 and a great way to finish off 2012.

How far do you run every week?  A recent article in the Wall Street Journal cited sources that said running 20 miles a week or more can be detrimental to your cardiovascular system.  What?!  First up today is Alex Hutchinson, a columnist for Runners World, to refute the article and provide some good insights into prepping for races.  Then you'll meet Ray Zahab who has no idea how far "too far" is.  Ray is one of the longest distance runners on the earth.  He's run across continents and been the subject of a production carried by National Geographic.  He's also inspirational and highly energetic.  Have fun listening, then go for a nice long run.  All is well!
