Irreligiosophy
Summary: Irreligiosophy means “the wisdom of irreligion” — it is about questioning dogmas handed down uncritically to us and researching into the history, practice, and theology of various religions. It’s about scrutinizing religious claims with a skeptical eye and placing them in historical perspective. But ultimately, Irreligiosophy 2.0 is really about arming atheists to wage the culture war with arguments and reason. We focus on Christianity because that is the religion that we are most confronted by in our daily lives, but we see all religion and all irrationality as threats to the continued advancement of knowledge, progress, and social justice.

Podcasts:
In this podcast, we go over some of the history of the Seventh Day Adventists, discuss some of their beliefs, and highlight the foibles of some of their luminaries, including the adventist William Miller and the prophetess Ellen G. White.
In this episode, we briefly discuss Chuck's son's ordination into the LDS Aaronic Priesthood, anti-gay discrimation legislation opposed by anti-anti-gay discrimination legislators, and a Christian Pastor finally admits what everyone already knew: spreading the word of the Lord is more important than edumacashun.
Having canvassed the entire state of Utah, we have found two skeptics to talk with us about what it's like to live in a crazy, backward state that is dominated by religion. Surprisingly enough, that state is not Texas.
Here we go around about an RPG-related hammer attack in Cedar City, Utah, as well as Professor Wasilewska's growing irritation with both the declining work ethic of college students and increasing pressures for grade inflation.
Having already discussed the plagues of Exodus way back in podcast number 2, we spend this podcast discussing what, if any, archaeological evidence supports the Bible's version of the Hebrews' escape from 400 years of Egyptian captivity. SPOILER ALERT! There is none.
We talk about a little village in Switzerland who want to reverse their prayers to make a glacier recede after God answered their prayers in spades, and also the new Texas law that requires all public schools to teach a class on the Bible.
Here we encounter three Jack Chick tracts used by evangelicals the world over to bring people to Chick's peculiar interpretation of Jesus: a Mormon tract, an anti-abortion tract, and our favorite, the Halloween tract called "Boo!"
We discuss questions to an Islamic website about eating mermaids and masturbation during Ramadan, as well as a Catholic Bishop's modern upgrade of the seven deadly sins.
We discuss the Christian attacks against fantasy role-playing games in general and Dungeons & Dragons in particular, in light of our backgrounds playing them.
The gay penguins are back, and this time they have eggs! The zoo-keepers discriminating against our flippered friends have relented, and granted the gay twosome some eggs from a couple with "poor hatching abilities." That's one small step for gay penguins, one giant leap for queerkind.
Leighton and I want the last two hours of our lives back, but we took one for the team. We bring you a review of the terrible New Age documentary, "What the Bleep Do We Know?", which confuses quantum physics with morality, consciousness, and erections. Yes, those erections.
A discussion about Joe Biden's "hate speech" against Christians and a tribute to our hero, Mike the Sea Lion, tragic victim of sex exhaustion.
University of Utah Anthropology Professor Ewa Wasilewska discusses a wide array of topics including the Enuma Elish, the Epic of Gilgamesh, the Hebrew tendency to "borrow" things for their scriptures, and her hatred of Greek and Roman history.
The one true church excommunications everyone involved in an abortion on a 9 year old girl in Brazil who was carrying twins because she was raped by her stepfather.
Winding up our second Mormon Month, Leighton and Chuck talk about how to stump those young, fresh-faced, eager LDS missionaries who pester you by knocking on your door all the time.
