 Episode 158 – What is situational awareness? T.E.D.D. | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 25:12

Recently a listener asked me to do a show on situational awareness. So this show and the next show are dedicated to this topic. This was actually the second show I recorded, so the first show will get posted tomorrow. I posted this one today by accident, but that's OK, you'll most likely enjoy both. What you know and the skills you posess are just as important in survival as the tools and supplies you have. So in this episode I discuss what is situational awareness and how to put yourself into the mindset of being aware of your surroundings and the people around you. The next show this week will included specific techniques to stay relaxed, but also aware. So get ready for some situational awarness mindset in this show. Based on an excellent article from STRATFOR and NoNonsenseSelfDefense.com. I will post a link to these on the forum.

Episode 157 – Making a looting kit, TSS tip #2 of the week. | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 21:39

Make a looting kit. On tuesday I talked about dealing with looters and opportunists and although you may not agree with everything I said, don't take this preparation lightly. In this show I look into the mind of a looter or opportunist and what they will be thinking after a disaster. One of the best ways to prepare for an attack is to know your enemy. This show is based on an article written by Thomas Northrup of "No BS survival" that I found on the website STHFplan.com. Let me suggest that you read it after listening to this show. Thanks for downloading and listening, Bob Mayne, Today's Survival Show

Episode 156 – Dealing with looters and opportunists. TSS survival tip #1 of the week. | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 20:20

Looting is a common problem after disaster strikes. The unprepared get desperate and decide to take things by force because they were blind sheep and did not prepare. So this episode is about how to deal with that and it's inspired by an email I received from a listener. He disagreed with something I said in a previous episode and his point was a good one. So good, that I decided to make 2 podcasts on the subject. So this is your TSS Survival Tip #1 of this week. TSS tip #2 will be an expansion on this subject and will post on Thursday of this week. Thanks for downloading and listening, Bob Mayne, Today's Survival Show

Episode 155 – Survival Footwear, Survival Tip #1 of the week. | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 25:14

Footwear is so important and often neglected. What I mean is that too many people try to equip their feet with poor quality footwear. Don't you think that in an emergency you may have to spend a lot of time on your feet? So I decided to discuss the importance of what type of footwear to have in various survival situations. I also cover a little bit about insoles, boots, walking and hiking shoes, socks, getting the right size boot and my battle with Morton's Neuroma. The inspiration for this show came from a great article called "Proper Footwear for Survival", by Seth King. It's a very reasonable article on survival footwear and I suggest you read it. Thanks for downloading and listening. Bob Mayne, Today's Survival Show

Episode 154 – Herbs and wild edible plants for survival health. | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 31:48

This is an interview with Wade from Louisiana who is a regular listener and has an excellent background and training on the use of herbs for natural health and healing. He joined me for a brief interview while I was on the road. We discussed using herbs for food, nutrition, healing and for teaching survival to young people. This is TSS Survival Tip #2 of this week.  Episode 153- The Generational Storm, Survival Tip #1 of the week. | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

[powerpress] There’s a generational storm brewing in America and likely throughout the world right now. Survival and preparedness is also a philosophy that seems to have fallen with the changing of generational philosophy. In this episode I talk about teaching young people the concept of personal responsibility and where we may have gone wrong in [...]

Episode 151 – Bartering, Survival Tip #1 of the week. | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

[powerpress] Bartering seems to be a lost art. I’ve done podcasts about this subject before and thought I would revisit this topic again. So this week, my survival tips are on the art of bartering. This is a skill that will pay off now and after a disaster strikes. In reality, there doesn’t even have [...]

Episode 150 – Back to the basics. | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

[powerpress] On this 150th episode of Today’s Survival Show, I decided it would be fitting to discuss getting back to the basics of survival. Every once in awhile it’s important to take an inventory and review your preparations and your plans. So this episode is about doing just that. I made it though 2 years [...]

Episode 149 – Making your home work for you. | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

[powerpress] Beekeeping, gardening, raising chickens, fruit trees and even rioting are subjects of this show. Primarily we discuss how to make your home work for you. So many people work hard to buy and keep their home, but they don’t make their home produce for them. So I interviewed Jason Christensen, President of Concealment Solutions. [...]

Episode 148 – Cooking for Survival, part 2 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

[powerpress] I talked about cooking for survival in Episode 146, but I have more to say. So this is it’s own episode, but also consider this to be an add on to episode 146. I talk about camping soups, jerked beef, cooking insects, worms, saving parts of animals you may have to harvest in a [...]

 Episode 147 – Will Power | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

[powerpress] The psychological aspect of survival is my primary topic in this episode. Cody Lundin has often said that survival is about 80-90% psychological and I agree. Recently during the experience of moving, I’ve gained a greater appreciation for will power. Pushing ourselves beyond our self imposed limits, is a huge key to being prepared. [...]

Episode 146 – Cooking for survival. | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

[powerpress] Can you cook? Would you agree it’s a preparedness skill to be learned? I’ve always been a big believer that what you know is just as important as what you have. So in this episode I discuss alternative methods of starting fires for cooking, foods to cook in wilderness survival and what to teach [...]

Episode 145 – Fact or fiction? Survival Myths. | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

[powerpress] There’s a lot of folklore and bad information being tossed around, about survival in the wilderness, safety and shooting hoards of zombies. So in the episode, I keep it rooted in common sense and decide to do some myth busting. I found several sources from blogs and forums to get information from some pretty [...]

Episode 144 – Mindset of military vs. civilian survivalism | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

[powerpress] This episode is about the differences between a military point of view and a civilian point of view, with respect to preparedness. Often times on internet boards and blogs you see a post from someone who feeds you a lot of information from a military or law enforcement perspective. It may be great information [...]
