Summary: Recovery, whether it is from substance abuse or a mental illness, or both requires a treatment plan, which in many cases is as effective as treatments for other chronic illnesses. “One Hour AT A Time” will increase awareness about recovery and decrease the discrimination against individuals in the recovery process. Host Mary Woods, will help people understand the recovery of adults and families living with co-occurring substance use disorders and psychotic and/or affective illness over the course of a lifetime. Helping individuals develop the skills and knowledge they need to take personal responsibility for their health and supporting individuals in their efforts to get on with life beyond illness has been Mary’s mission and she now brings that mission to the airwaves. Petros Levounis, MD, MA, is the Director of The Addiction Institute of New York (formerly Smithers) and Chief of Addiction Psychiatry at St. Luke's and Roosevelt Hospitals in New York City. Dr. Levounis is a board-certified addiction psychiatrist, Fellow of the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM), and Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association (APA). Jimmy Destri is a born and bred Brooklynite having lived in around the New York City area his entire 54 years. He currently lives in Windsor Terrace with his wife Roberta and their children James, 11 and Rienna, 3. Though still a partner of the band Blondie, Jimmy is currently serving as a full time drug counselor/therapist at NYC's Carnegie Hill Institute while pursing his drug and alcohol license at NYC's C.U.N.Y. At Carnegie Hill Institute, a long established and respected outpatient recovery center in New York City, Jimmy spends 5 days a week helping some of the city's acute and chronically addicted find new life and hope, using the newest therapeutic tools of the trade. He claims that he's been incredibly lucky, not once in life, but twice, having found a new calling that he's equally passionate about.

Moving from Nashville to New Orleans in successive years found him doing menial jobs, sleeping outdoors and selling his plasma to survive. The Neville Brothers were instrumental in giving him a base to regroup. An invitation to do a tour in Japan in 1989 set him on track again. Presently Sam operates McClain Productions from his home in Newmarket, NH He has just completed his latest project, "Too Much Jesus (Not Enough Whiskey)" which is as yet, unreleased. In 2007 he devoted his time to the "Give US Your Poor" project, a national initiative to aid the homeless. He recorded a song with Natalie Merchant for the CD and wrote and performed a duet with Jon Bon Jovi titled, "Show Me The Way"."The Soul of America" is his European title, but he is, just as the lyrics he wrote, "I'm a singer, a man with a song...and I've got a message for you”.

She also holds a Doctorate degree in Education from the University of Tulsa, a Masters degree in Psychology from Texas Christian University, a Bachelors degree in Psychology from Southern Methodist University, a Bachelors degree in Biology from Northeastern State University in Oklahoma and an Associate of Science degree in Chemistry from Tulsa County College. Dr. McDaniel began her own Addiction Medicine and Family Practice Clinic in 2003, the Anti-Aging and Longevity Center of Texas, P.A. Dr. McDaniel served as medical director and program physician for the Denton Brentwood addiction clinic. Dr. McDaniel trained as an addiction medicine program physician under J. Thomas Payte, M.D., in his Dallas clinics and San Antonio clinics from 1998 through 2003.
