Yep, I know it’s been a horrible 2020 and I just want to get drunk, hope you do too. Alright, now that the business end is out of the way we can jump headfirst into today’s dark enigma… and Mysterious murders and the Strange Ciphers that follow after them. History is littered with cases of unsolved murders, many of which were decidedly of a bizarre nature, leaving bafflement in their wake. Yet as perplexing as these cold cases and unsolved killings may be, sometimes they wrap themselves with even more oddities that serve to only deepen the intrigue and enigmas surrounding their inscrutable nature. There have been impenetrable cases in which not only does a murder go mysteriously and stubbornly unsolved, but also comes with an unbreakable, shadowy code or message that goes on to generate far more questions than the answers they taunt us with. These are the clues that managed to actually take investigators farther off the path of what they thought they knew and into the uncharted jungle realm of complex puzzles and baffling riddles that may never be solved, teasing them with buried clues they may never fully unearth. These are the strange cases of unsolved deaths that further obfuscated answers and weaved spiraling mysteries around themselves with the presence of strange, indecipherable codes that may or may not hold the key to their resolution, but which have continued to remain complete cryptic exercises in bafflement that fester in our minds and defy our attempts to scratch past their surface to find a resolution.

The story of Khairi Saadallah, the 25-year-old Libyan knife attacker in a British park, provides reasons to believe that his motive could have been terrorism, simple criminal murder, a psychotic episode or homophobia. Hear why, what red flags were missed, and how these motives are not mutually exclusive. Khairi was referred to UK counterterrorism organizations, but was not on a watch list. He has a history of incarceration for various crimes, and had just been released days before the attack. He also had a history of psychiatric hospitalizations for various diagnoses and had been seen by mental health professionals hours before his attack. His friends told of his homophobia, a significant piece of the puzzle because the men he killed and wounded were gay. Alright, now that the business end is out of the way we can jump headfirst into today’s dark enigma… and the bizarre and shadowy world of Doppelgängers! It has become sort of a colloquial expression to say someone is a “doppelgänger” if they look just like you. Yet the origins of this term and indeed the whole phenomenon behind it are cloaked in a veil of myth, mystery, and high strangeness beyond what you might expect. This is a world in which spirits or demons from beyond take the form of people, in which individuals bilocate to other places to exist in two places at once, are followed about by shadow copies of themselves, or project themselves into other locations through means we may never understand, and in which spectral clones of ourselves or even evil twins run amok. As we will see, sometimes when someone says you are the spitting image of another it could possibly have rather bizarre connotations and implications.
