It's the first episode of #FanBoySummer, featuring one of the show listeners not only joining the show, but picking the topic! The Deucecast Team decided to spend the Holiday weekend with our families but we couldn't leave our loyal listeners without content. In just a week or so, the Deucecast Guys enter into the Danger Zone again, at a preview for Top Gun, so that leads the discussion to TOP FIVE DOGFIGHTS in movie history.  Snoop, Snoopy, The Bounty Hunger or Junkyard are not included.  A task too big for just d$, Mikey, and #TwitterlessDrEarl, so who do they turn to?  Of course, Hurricane Rhett, because this show has been on the rails way, way too long. Now that all the 2021 lists are over, and the ReFlicktions for last month have been ReFlickted, its time to finally move forward with new lists, new topics, and old movies to discuss! In honor of this year's NFL Draft, which just happened and to which likely 2 of the 3 Deucecasters (Dave, Mikey, Dr Earl) have no idea who was #1 (Minka Kelly, maybe?), it's time to talk a little football acting. First up, a little May the Fourth Be With You chitchat, then the return of The Rotten Tomatoes Game (and the first mention of Knute Rocke in 531 eps), then, this week's Top Five... Football Players (college and pro) who turned to acting. It's a tradition unlike any other... no, not the Masters, nor the Kentucky Derby, nor the BAFTAs... nope, it's the Deucie Awards! For the 9th consecutive year, including 8 years in a row and this one, the Deucecast Movie Show hosts compile a list of nominees to watch, consider, vote on, and finally award the proverbial Golden Deuce Academy Globe VIBE statue to any one - or many - of over 40 films nominated for 16 awards... Will Jess Chastain take home the Deucie to match her Oscar?  Will Jason Isaacs get finally get some love after his tour de force on MASS?  Can Hans Zimmer take another step closer to a DEGOT? The award season is on the fast track to the big one, the Academy Awards, and it was time to revisit some of the previous Oscar seasons... specifically, the Best Picture nominees from years gone by. And to accomplish this feat of movie strength, Mikey, Dave, and #TwitterlessDrEarl bring in Show Fave and Listener Roth from Wyoming!    First, a list of Birthday Movies -- including Logan turning five, and IN LIKE FLINT... my favourite movie!  Then to add to the Best Picture nominees of 2002!  Essentially... there were only five nominees for Best Picture. Within a decade, they would allow up to ten films to be nominated.  So it's our job to come up with our own lists of the other five that should have also been nominated... note: we CANNOT remove any of the existing films, we can only add to the list.      And at the end of the show, the crew all submit one film each that should have been nominated, then a quick discussion on the final film, to come up with a Deuce Best Picture nominee list. The existing nominees for the Best Picture category in 2003 (for movie year 2002) are Gangs of New York, The Hours, Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, The Pianist, and the year's big winner, Chicago... so the crew asks, "Did they get it right?" This is the last of this part of the series for this year. Next February, we will pick back up with the Best Picture nominees of 2003 and continue through 2007.
