It's the Annual July 4th episode for The Deucecast Movie Show!! Mikey, Dave and #TwitterlessDrEarl set up shop in front of the vaunted Deucecast Microphones to spill the best on movies, rumors, pop culture, Natalie Portman (Mikey), Amy Adams (Dave) and Allison Brie Larsen (#TwitterlessDrEarl). And what better way to celebrate the Independence Day holiday than invite it one of the show's favorite two Friend of the Show Jennifers.... the Delightful Lifer herself, J Kaufman! After the annual July 4th game of American or Commie (where the crew guesses on who was born on American soil... and who are the commies), they dive into their Sports Films list. Not just any sports film list... the rules are to omit the big ones -- no football movies, no basketball movies, no baseball movies allowed. Instead, movies about soccer! Racing! Golf! And... competitive speed typing? What. Also a quick look at the new Toy Story Land at Hollywood Studios!
It's a super fun time, eh, as Mikey, Dave and Twitterless Dr Earl invite in their first foreigner to the show... Mike MacDonald of The Sandcrawler Podcast joins the crew to talk about all things North Neighbors! First up, a quick Canada discussion, including Mac being Clay Shaver's next door neighbor! Then a great game of Rotten Tomatoes all around Canadian actors... Catherine O'Hara and Carrie Ann Moss and William Shatner and much more! Among the awesome things discussed include... Mac's part in The Doobie Brothers... what's north of Mac's hometown... Is Canada part of England? Or France? The new province in Canada... Star Trek V... what Toboggans actually are... Mikey's fave tea shop in Canada... SCTV... Touchstone Pictures under Disney... the adult jokes in the family friendly Splash... And then, a Top Five Canadian Connections -- not just movies, but actors, scenes and more. X-Men and The Great Outdoors and Rachel McAdams and lots of Rick Moranis.
Another night, another chance to discuss all the movies fit to print. Dave, Mikey and #Twitterless Dr Earl come together to share all the movies seen in the last few weeks. Kicking it off, Dave talks about the movie staring his college frat formal date... Dr Earl drops a bombshell... Mikey is haunted... Dave chalks up another Marisa movie... Dr. Earl watches an Oscar classic... and Mikey gives his first Nic-Trio Then the guys go over "Solo: A Star Wars Story" and Mikey and Dave share their thoughts on the just released Incredibles 2. Coming from the Magic City Con (the biggest comic book nerd fest in Birmingham that weekend, we promise), The Deucecast Movie Show presents a fun show full of cool this week. First, Michael and Dave, sans #TwitterlessDrEarl (on missions to El Salvador doing open heart surgeries), are in a featured live show, with a live audience! A great round of Simple Star Wars Trivia opens up the show, then the guys give their top 5 of the week, Fave Disaster Movies... in honor of the upcoming "Skyscraper", which is DieHard in a building. Armageddon! Deep Impact! Twister! 2012! And many more disasters on screen both in great and not so great film. After the panel ends, the guys catch up with AMC's "Comic Book Men's" co-star Ming Chen for a quick 20 minutes chat about DC and Marvel, best comic book to movie translations and fun Star Wars stuff. Then, Mikey has 20 minutes with actor Jeremy London, notable for 7th Heaven, Mallrats and Gods & Generals. Overall, it was a great con and a great episode full of movie and pop culture!
Once again, Mikey and Dave come together to give you the best movies you can stream... nay, you need to stream RIGHT NOW. These are movies that if you haven't seen them, then your life is incomplete and no one knows what you are doing with your future. After birthday films (Can't Hardly Wait is how old?? And Porkys 2: The Next Day was released when??) the guys dive in, giving you their picks for a fave film in several categories, like Action, Drama, Animation, Kids & Family and so on. Where else can you hear discussions on HBK aka The Heartbreak Kid aka Mr Wrestlemania aka WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels and his acting career, or a look at Frank Oz or the directorial efforts of Jeremy Burgess Saulnier or the latest roles for Nic Cage or Dave's affinity for Josh Radnor and much more.
The summer is here! The Deucecast Movie Show is here to give you all the movies you need to know about coming in the next three months -- Dave and Mikey and Dr Earl go weekend by weekend, giving you the ones to mark onto your calendar... First up, a summer blockbuster round of Rotten Tomatoes, with films like Wild Wild West and the '89 Batman and Inception and of course Jaws -- plus a new rule instituted during the playing of the game! Among topics discussed, the guys answer the question "Where is Jeremy Burgess??"... discuss the difference in Pullman and Paxton, and the tragedy of Paxton's last film... reboots of dude films into chick films... a rare Bollywood-esque preview... Pooh animated (or not?)... love for Peter Berg... Nic Cage, finally as Superman... and what everyone is excited for... And who could guess that Dave loves ABBA so much? (pretty much anyone, really) Movies previewed include: Adrift... Action Point... Hereditary... Hotel Artemis... Ocean's 8... Incredibles 2... Superfly... Tag... Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom... The Hustle... Sanju... Sicario: Day of the Soldado... Uncle Drew... The First Purge... Ant-Man & the Wasp... Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation... Skyscraper... The Equalizer 2... Mamma Mia! The summer is in full swing, with Dave, Mikey & Dr Earl taking a look at movies seen recently, and invite in Friend of the Show Hurricane Rhett, with a special appearance by Producer Tommy. The episode kicks off with Birthday Movies, including celebrating release days by such amazing cinematic appearances like Sliver, Black Dog and The Lizzie McGuire Movie Then, a quick review of movies watched in the last few weeks, including Chappaquiddick, Thief, Wind River, Breakin 2: Electric Boogaloo, The Perfect Score... The Week Of... The Runner... Andre the Giant... Kodachrome... Tragedy Girls... 78/52... Brad's Status... Score: A Film Music Documentary... Una... Hitman's Bodyguard... The crew gives their Top Five of the Year so far, and a heads up is given before spoilers. And of course, a full review of Avengers: Infinity War, with comic book legacy, various deaths, character movies, pronouncing "Heimdale", likes, dislikes, Thanos as a sympathetic villain, the ending, where the next movie may go and all of that and such. FINALLY... a random in-depth discussion on the future of the Star Wars cinematic universe.
It's a couple of guys who keep their heads in the clouds and gaze at the stars, so it's only fitting that Dave and Mikey discuss Fantasy and Science Fiction films. But since #Twitterless Dr Earl can't be found (he's doing a lint removal procedure from the naval of poor kids in Long Island), who better to invite onto the show than the TechnoRetro Dads themselves, Shazbazzar and Jedi Shuuuuuuuuaaaaahhhhhh.... And the gang jumps right in, counting off their lists of what they consider to be their favorite fantasy/sci-fi films of this century... that's really anything released on January 1st, 2000, until... well, you know, today. Or the day of the recording, anyway. The TRD's also give their take on "Ready Player One" before diving into the Top Ten, then the guys discuss at length -- and at depth -- the legacy and their adoration of films like "Children of Men" and the newest "Star Trek" and newer "Star Wars" films and Shaz defends "John Carter" while Dave defends "Lady in the Water". Its a great two hours of sci fi fantasy fun and movie love!
Another edition of The Deucecast Movie Show walks down the podcasting aisle, with Mikey and Dave inviting in The Long Intro-less, Twitterless Dr Earl. Because Producer Shawn finally got hitched recently, the crew thought it would be fun to talk weddings in movies, both full films and scenes too. What better way to do that than to invite in the Delightful Jennifer Kaufman, courtesy of the Binder & Binder hotline. And what better way to talk about wedding movies than to talk about... Kaufman's former podcast The Delightful Life, local soccer teams, soccer rules, hockey rules and more, including a quick debate on the pros & cons of the hockey shootout. A new game premieres this episode, a game called "Bridget, Michelle or Kate"... who was in the movies called out? Moving onto weddings, Dave, Kaufman and Mikey share their quick wedding stories (while Twitterless Dr Earl takes a nap), then onto the Top Five Movie Weddings. From The Muppets Take Manhattan to Bridesmaids to Spaceballs to My Best Friends Wedding and more, the DCMS celebrates movie nuptials and more. And Kaufman hates The Princess Bride. Still.
The Deucecast Movie Show jumps back into the bracket format again, this time with Tom Cruise movies! Mikey and Dave invite in Twitterless Dr Earl, and get Waycross Bainswick Georgia's own Scott Ryfun. And the bonus Ryfun, Garrison, also joins in. The guys match up Tom Cruise roles one by one, until there is only one remaining, with lots of discussions on Mission Impossible movies without the numbers... the Mimi Rogers years... Garrison saying "I haven't seen that" an awful lot... The Ron Kovic dilemma... and lots and lots of shirtless, sweaty volleyball. And an Emilio Estevez sighting!
Like that horrifically awful Staind song said, "It's been a while...." But never fear, Mikey, Dave and #Twitterless Doctor Earl are back in the podcasting saddle, this time with loads of ReFlicktions -- reviewing new and old movies seen in the last month or more. After a quick look at April birthday movies, the guys dive right into ReFlicktions, going over a great new Star Wars documentary... Dave paying off his punishment for losing the Oscar pool... Bryan Brown talk... Dr Earl enjoying both a RomCom and Munchhausen by Proxy and getting Woke... Dave's latest Disaster Movies... Crushing on the Rock... much love for A Quiet Place... much non-love for A Wrinkle in Time... and lots of Burgess name dropping. Plus, Dave & Mikey's newest Top Five of 2018, and Dr. Earl's first list. Movies discussed: Hurricane Heist... The Director & the Jedi... Searching for Sugarman... Skiptrace... Pacific Rim: Uprising (WAR READY)... F/X... Atomic Blonde... When We First Met... Blackway... Ready Player One... Mommy Dead & Dearest... Hostel II... Happy Anniversary... Black Panther... Geostorm... Rampage... A Quiet Place... A Ghost Story... Andre the Giant... Elvis: The Searcher... A Wrinkle in Time... The Florida Project... Arthur Miller: Writer... Blockers
It's another classic episode as the guys take one more week off -- new The Deucecast Movie Show episodes coming next week! In ep 239, from August 2016, the TechnoRetro Dad co-host Shaz joins Mikey, Dave, Pinky & Dr Earl to talk about their favorite childhood TV shows that they want to see turn into movies... everything from The Wonder Years to The Greatest American Hero, from Morgan Freeman as a possible KITT to Christian Slater as a Hogan Hero. And, thanks to d$, lots of Katherine Heigl. Join us next week for all new episodes of The Deucecast!
The guys are taking two weeks off because of... well, life. But don't sweat it! Here is a classic episode from The Deucecast Movie Show, released all the way back on June 8th, 2013. The show had just transitioned from a variety show into a strictly movie show, and Episode 101 features Dr Earl (Before he got all of his titles)... Pinky, as he joins the show officially... Mikey and Dave as hosts... and even Producer Tommy and Producer Shawn! Its the first real "ReFlicktions" show of the Deucecast Movie Show, covering films like the original "Jack Reacher"... "The Great Gatsby"... "Now You See Me"... and an extensive love fest for Fast & Furious 6. And then a list of the guys favorite "disappointing summer blockbusters"! Hope you enjoy this blast from the past, and we'll give you some new episodes in 2 weeks!
Springtime has sprungtime, as The Deucecast Movie Show counts down the days until Avengers Infinity War, as Mikey and Dave welcomes in Friend of the Show, Wit Stillman Fan, Lover of Brie (Allison, Larsen & the Cheese), Terrance Malick Apologist, Film Historian and Nasal Surgeon, specializing in condom removals, the estimable Twitterless Dr Earl! And as another special treat, calling in all the way from Tifton Albany Waycross Valdosta Bainswick, radio host and My Star Wars Story creator, Friend of the Show Scott Ryfun! Dave and Ryfun connect over common friends in Brunswick, as well as The Void Experience in Disney Springs. Mikey and Ryfun then bond over a great meeting back at Star Wars Celebration last year. Then, to the main segment, an extended game of "See This / Not That", where the crew takes on the cast of The Avengers Infinity War. One by one, Mikey, Dave, Ryfun and Dr Earl each give you the movie you should see and one to avoid with each of the Avengers, from Chris Evans to Robert Downey Jr to Zoe Saldana to ScarJo to Liz Olsen and everyone in between. And we mention Steve Glosson many times over.
Just Mikey and Dave on this edition of The Deucecast Movie Show, as they give a rundown of all the good (a Nic Cage movie!), the bad (a Nic Cage movie!) and everything in between (a Nic Cage movie!) They get right to the action, and along the way, tackle such pressing issues as good and bad Nic Cage... Dave crushin' on a hot Michelle Monaghan... Mikey verbally destroying K-Stew... Munchhausen by Proxy... Emily Blunt's perfect casting... and lots of questions about Wakanda. Movies discussed: The Darkest Hour… Kiss Kiss Bang Bang… I Tonya… Gilbert… Personal Shopper… Edge of Seventeen… Mommie Dead & Dearest… Good Time… When We First Met… Army of One… Arsenal… The Mummy… Celeste & Jesse Forever… The Girl on the Train… Table 19… Stasis… Wilson… Frances Ha… Paint It Black… Battle of the Sexes… Wind River… Death Wish… Annihilation… Black Panther…
