The Deucecast Movie Show

It's been ten long, crazy years and 1000s of movies, lots of video games, several third wheel co-hosts and 475 episodes, it's The Deucecast Movie Show's 10th Anniversary! Mikey, Dave, and #TwitterlessDrEarl ring in the next decade with an episode that looks at the best films of 2011! First, Birthday Movies return, with the films released 5, 10, 15, 20 and more years ago in April of those years - Along Came a Spider, Primal Fear, Out for Justice and Bad News Bears is how old?  Rotten Tomatoes themed game centered around the movies released in early April, around the time The Deucecast Episode I: The Podcast Menace was dropped onto the world. And then, the Top Ten Fave Films of 2011, as ranked by your hosts.  From documentaries about tort reform to MMA movies to baseball sabremetrics to Marvel superheroes to how to get into the Dune canon. Plus, stick around to the end for a little soundbyte of the beginning.  And thanks to RetroZap for keeping us around for five years, and to all of our listeners for 10 years of listening!! 

The Deucecast Movie Show crew has returned after a week off, and they are ready to rumble when it comes to movies.  First up, Mikey, Dave, and #TwitterlessDrEarl take a look at the recent Oscar nominations and give their thoughts -- surprises, expectations, snubs, and a few predictions. Next, a longer discussion on the recent release of the four hour Zack Snyder's Justice League, how it's better, some of the differences, and thoughts on the Josstice League by comparison. Then, an episode long round of See This Not That, looking at 15 members of the Zack Snyder's Justice League cast and picking for each a movie to "See This" and then a movie to "Not That", from JK Simmons to Robin Wright to Diane Lane to Jason Mamoa (and even a little Jason MaNO-AH). And of course, Dave's girlfriend, Amy Adams. Sprinkled amongst the listings are this year's Deucie Award nominations - Popcorn Movie, Animated Feature, Drama, Comedy, Acting nods, Director, Picture and all of those.  The 8th annual Deucie Awards commence in just a few weeks. Finally, the movies for watching, assigned to #TwitterlessButNotDiscordlessDrEarl, for this year's SpirituEarl... films with a religious or Christian bend to the them, movies he will watch and report back on in a few weeks.

It's a busy spring break week for everyone as Mikey is busy eating and #TwitterlessDrEarl is in Long Island testifying at a lint removal procedure gone wrong trial and Dave is out of the state, so rather than trying to get a rushed show together, they guys are taking the week off. This week, the show pays homage to our good friends over at TechnoRetro Dads, who's own show is ending. This Deucecast Classic is from May 2018, episode 327.  Enjoy the old school vibe, and here are the original show notes from that episode: It's a couple of guys who keep their heads in the clouds and gaze at the stars, so it's only fitting that Dave and Mikey discuss Fantasy and Science Fiction films. But since #Twitterless Dr Earl can't be found (he's doing a lint removal procedure from the naval of poor kids in Long Island), who better to invite onto the show than the TechnoRetro Dads  themselves, Shazbazzar and Jedi Shuuuuuuuuaaaaahhhhhh.... And the gang jumps right in, counting off their lists of what they consider to be their favorite fantasy/sci-fi films of this century... that's really anything released on January 1st, 2000, until... well, you know, today. Or the day of the recording, anyway. The TRD's also give their take on "Ready Player One" before diving into the Top Ten, then the guys discuss at length -- and at depth -- the legacy and their adoration of films like "Children of Men" and the newest "Star Trek" and newer "Star Wars" films and Shaz defends "John Carter" while Dave defends "Lady in the Water". Its a great two hours of sci fi fantasy fun and movie love!

In the latest The Deucecast Movie Show, the guys take a look at American classics. It's a broad definition, but Dave, Mikey, and #TwitterlessDrEarl apply their movie mastery to make it happen. Along the way, they reel in co-host of A Good Day for a Movie Podcast Roth from Wyoming, to talk a little about his favorite films and his podcast, and then a rousing round of Denzel! Finally, a top five list of American Classics... movies made in our country, with a solid American cast, movies that define a little America in every scene. In a rare move for The Deucecast Movie Show, the topic describes the show itself -- a total disaster.  But this time, it's natural disasters, born by God and Mother Nature. First up, Dave and Mikey give their review on the new Disney film "Raya & the Last Dragon"... while the award winning #TwitterlessDrEarl nods approvingly.  Then, a little round of the Rotten Tomatoes Game. The Deucecast Movie Show strives to be an escape and the guys do their best this week to shut out the world for an hour and give you some movie chatter... and this time, it's all about being surprised, delighted, or in some cases, both. Movies that were thought to be a little silly, or movies approached with apprehension because "Surely, this movie can't be any good?" and yet, IT WAS!  First up, some January Birthday Movies, giving you the five, ten, twenty more year anniversaries of films you've heard of... and some you haven't. Cause that The Way Back ain't got no Affleck in it. A little round of January Movie Rotten Tomatoes, with a Christian Slater triple play, and then the top five... the films that Mikey, Dave, and #TwitterlessDrEarl watched and were happy to report were actually pretty good.
