 E088: Lenore Luca, Dreema 7/15/2011 | | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:21:00

Guests are Teen talk show host Lenore Luca, and Grime Artist Dreema. Lenore is the host of 'Teen Groove On The Move', and internet radio show like The Josie Show, located at teengrooveonthemove.com In his school life he was picked on a lot because of how he looked or the clothes he wore, sometimes even both, which made life stressful. As he got older his granddad (his idol and the only one to ever push him to his dream) gave him a keyboard to play and his music started from there. He would spend hours on end up in his room trying to compose a song but never quite grasped the concept of writing music. He took music as a GCSE at school in year 10 but his results came back as a G. After failing his music GCSE he moved away from music and set his sights on applying for jobs, in which he had no look no matter how hard he tried. At the age of 19 life was getting more and more stressful and Dreema ended up being diagnosed with depression along with low blood pressure. The stress that people brought sometimes got too much and so he turned his head towards music. Just writing down his feelings and making the words fit together he started to use instrumentals he could find off Youtube.

Among the myriad of bands competing for mainstream attention, there is one group that is standing out from the rest of the pack. Tomorrow Depends is a three-piece alternative rock act from London, Ontario with the sound and energy from which legends are made. Recently nominated for “Best Young Songwriters” at the 2010 Toronto Independent Music Awards, as well as “Favorite Rock Group” at the 2010 London Music Awards, Tomorrow Depends is on it’s way to becoming a major presence in the music world. Their song “The Beauty of the Breakdown,” from their 2008 5-song EP release, was chosen for the Canadian extreme sports reality TV show “The Adrenaline Project.” The catchy, yet dynamic drive of the band is contagious – their popularity at the Provincial Youth Talent Search took them all the way to the top 13 of over 200 entries and made them finalists at the Jack Richardson Music Awards two years in a row (2009, 2010). These are impressive credentials, especially when you consider the fact that these guys are still teenagers - none in the band have even reached the ripe old age of eighteen. Lisa Barrett is hoping a lot of people will get online and vote for her song, "When You Look at Me," which has made it into round three of the international "Best Original Song" contest. If she wins, she'll get her own Web page, and her song will be sent to dozens of recording companies, music labels (large and small), producers and agents. Barrett's song was one of 100 from around the world chosen for the contest. Of thos, 48 made it to round two and, you guessed it, "When You Look at Me" was one of them.

 E077: Ben Krahne, Madonna Nash, Skyler 4/29/11 | archived | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:27:00

Ben Krahne started writing music later in life around 26, he was living in Lake Tahoe at the time and met a guy named Tim Tierney. He seemed to capture a audience with just a guitar and vocals. they became friends and Ben started playing guitar, Ben has been hooked ever since. After a few years up there, Ben returned back to the bay area and continued playing music, but really dove into music after moving again to Marin County where he lived in small place and studied music, pretty much lived and breathed it. After putting out a couple cds, Ben decided just to concentrate on writing and pitch to publishers. Madonna Nash, winner of the 2010 Female Country Artist of the Year at the Carolina Music Awards, has been singing for as long as she can remember. Nash comes from a very musical family. Her father toured the country playing guitar, and her mother was an honors graduate in music from East Carolina University. Nash’s great great uncle was Connie B. Gay, founding president of the Country Music Association (CMA). Third grade. Recess. As most kids wait anxiously for their turn on the slide, ride on the zip line, or shot at the four square court, another group forms around a solitary raised platform. At any other time of day, this spot would be unremarkable. But after lunch, at this elementary school, it is transformed into a stage… where Skyler would perform. And from nearby this makeshift venue, educators can witness a mini “Hard Day’s Night” moment. From these unusual beginnings, it should be no surprise that by 6th grade, Skyler was a multi-instrumentalist; by 7th grade, he was sleeping on the couch, so as not disturb the sanctity of the recording studio that his bedroom had become; or that by 9th grade, he had released his first full-length, all original CD
