The 15 Best WordPress Blog Hosting Sites for 2022 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:02:45

(This post contains affiliate links.Read my full disclosure.)Although blogging is no longer the shiniest object in marketing, there’s little question that it’s still useful. In fact, as I’ve said in a prior article, blogging is far from dead. This is true even though “free” blog platforms like Blogger are much less common. In 2022, if you are blogging, your blog posts are probably housed on a website that is being run by WordPress. While WordPress has its own blog hosting with its wordpress.com product, the solution that most serious bloggers use which gives them complete control over their website is wordpress.org. There are several reasons for this, including the fact that there’s more flexibility with the nonprofit version. In addition, it’s less expensive to start. However, WordPress.org is a server application called a Content Management System, or CMS, which requires a server to run on and make sure that your domain name is correctly pointed to. So, while you don’t pay a fee to use WordPress.org, there are other costs involved. One of the more basic additional services is blog hosting. What is WordPress Blog Hosting? In a nutshell, blog hosting involves a company that rents its servers to you to run and maintain your WordPress website. This is obviously cheaper than owning your website’s server, and it’s the most common way people stay on the Web. However, there is a monthly fee for hosting, along with any other services you might require. Your host will store your website information on their server, and the server handles all the inquiries from people visiting your site. This way, depending on your hosting provider, you don’t need to do much yourself.Do I Need a Host for My Blog?Unless you are using one of the website builders solutions that include web hostings, such as the blogging sites WordPress.com, Wix, Weebly, and SquareSpace, yes you need a host for your WordPress.org blog. As for the other website builders mentioned, they may or may not be able to handle the WordPress CMS. In those cases, the company will either tell you what is supported or provide their own in-house CMS. Always make sure you know what’s compatible with a hosting service before you buy.How Do I Host a WordPress Blog Site?Luckily, buying and hosting a WordPress blog site is relatively easy. Your first task is to purchase a WordPress plan from one of the blog hosting sites below. Make sure the plan you choose will meet the needs of your blog, such as anticipated traffic. It’s always best to buy a plan that will let you grow a bit without costing too much.Once you’ve purchased a plan, it’s time to install your WordPress application inside their server and po... While you could go with a dedicated online web store, as a photographer you should already have a portfolio website – combining that portfolio site with a store isn’t only easy, but can also offer great benefits to both sides of the website.By using your existing site, you can save time on setup and maintenance, as you only have to go through the setup process once. It also saves you money, as you don’t need a separate subscription, domain name registration, hosting fee, or any other associated cost. It also makes things easier to update – by uploading the photo just once to your WordPress image library, you can then access it in multiple places across your site, including your store, portfolio, or even your blog. Also, having a deeper site, full of rich content, also helps your search engine optimization. Your SEO efforts are also multiplied, as improving the rank of your portfolio pages also boosts your potential for sales, and vice versa. It’s clear that setting up your online print sales as part of your existing WordPress website is the best option, but even once you’ve decided to go in this direction, things can be tricky. You may be asking yourself, do I have to print and mail the photos myself? Do I have to handle payment information? What about sales tax – selling online could mean that you have to deal with sales taxes in many different states and regions?   HOW TO EASILY BACK UP YOUR WORDPRESS SITE? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:02:42

OverviewDo you want to know how to back up your WordPress site? Have you ever been unable to access your WordPress site? Or have you just recently lost access to your website? And you haven’t set up a WordPress backup site to protect yourself? In this article, you’ll discover how simple it is to back up your WordPress account. We’ll walk you through the process of creating a complete backup for your WordPress-based business. Let’s get started with WordPress site backups, shall we?What is Backing Up?Simply put, backing up means making a copy of all of your work. This includes your website theme as well as associated site files (such as plugins) and your servers (which includes posts, users, comments, etc.). Backing up is equivalent to saving an essential document to Google Drive or Dropbox and then saving it to your desktop. It’s always a good idea to save essential files several times and in several locations (such as an external hard disc, thumb drive, the “internet,” on your phone, and so on). Before we go into more detail about backups, bear in mind that preventative measures can and should be implemented to keep your site safe and stable. Among them are:Plugins and themes must be updated on a regular basis.Using a solid username and password combinations (rather than “admin” and “password”).Creating powerful database table prefixes (opens in a new tab)Even if you’re careful and take all the necessary precautions, things can still go wrong. That is why it is important to have a backup system in place for your WordPress site. Why Not Use a WordPress Plugin? For those that are unfamiliar with all of the features of WordPress, plugins enable you to extend the functionality that is already available on your web. If you can make your own plugin, you can also download and use one that already exists. There are numerous backup plugins available. There’s nothing wrong with using BackupBuddy, a well-known backup plugin. However, backups should be performed at the server level rather than at the site level. Consider this: a plugin that performs automated backups of your extensive site is like adding weight to your server. The less plugins you have installed on your WordPress website are better. When it comes to backing up your valuable site archives, it’s best to depend on yourself rather than a third party. Furthermore, some plugins can cause your site to load slowly. Plugins are 3rd party. Others are of exceptionally high quality, while others may not be updated on a regular basis. As a consequence, they can compromise the security of your website. Two Different Types of WordPress BackupsBefore we get into the various methods for backing up your site without u... 75 million websites in the world use WordPress, which makes it the most popular content management system online.A WordPress blog is as functional as it is beautiful. It is free to users and the best part of it is that it can be modified to suit your personal needs. This is a website tool that is capable of making anything, from a simple blog to a full featured business website. Top level organizations such as Ebay, which is featured amongst Fortune 500 companies, has also been known to use it.That being said, having a WordPress blog, genuinely simplifies your work as a blogger. It allows you to change your website themes as and when you feel the need to. This goes a long way in cutting out any graphic design work you would have had to invest in. WordPress literally makes blogging all fun and games. All social media marketing gurus know that blogs are a crucial part of any successful campaign. Therefore, having a partner like WordPress that lets you create blogs so simply is amazing. You and I both know, however, that money only comes in when you have a notable subscription list. This has got to be the number one headache bloggers face. How do you get people to actually want to opt in and consent to letting you take their money?9 Proven Ways to Get More SubscribersYour subscribers are the lifeline of a thriving blog. Everyone wishes they had more of them. Nobody has ever complained about having too many of them.Listed below are established fail-proof ways of getting your WordPress blog rolling with the big dogs.1. Engage with Your AudienceThis sounds like an easy thing to do, and yes you are absolutely correct it is. Connect with your audience. Don’t write articles or post stuff just for the sake of it. Start conversations. Let these conversations have relevancy in the lives of your readers. Hop on a popular buzzing subject matter. That is sure to let the readers know that with you, they’ll be updated on the most current matters but they will still have their most pertinent issues addressed. You will have then created your tribe. When people feel like they belong, subscriptions happen organically.2. Herd MentalityYou ever seen a flock of sheep herding? They literally follow each other without second guessing anything. Human beings are sort of like that to some extent. In a nice way of course. So what you want to do is maximize on that.Let’s say you already have 500 subscribers. If you use the powerful WordPress CMS software on your site, it’s possible to move it from one location to another, but you have to do it a certain way. This page explains several different possibilities. Before making any changes, you should make an extra backup of your website. On this page:Moving WordPress to a different location on the same siteExpert procedure: Using the shellMoving WordPress to a different domain name where both domain names are hosted with our companyMoving WordPress to a different serverChanging the preferred domain name WordPress uses with aliasesMoving WordPress to a different location on the same siteIf you’re moving WordPress to a different location on the same site, you’ll need to move the WordPress files and update the “URLs” in the WordPress database.Tip: Let us do this for you, for free. The instructions below explain how technically advanced customers can do this. However, the variety of themes and plugins means that in some cases, this won’t be enough, and additional changes will be necessary to get the site working. If you’re a hosting customer of ours, we’ll be glad to do this for you at no charge: just contact us. We have the expertise to solve any additional problems with themes and plugins as a result of moving the site.If you want to try this yourself anyway, the rest of this section explains how. You should make an extra backup first so you can restore the site if anything goes wrong. For the sake of this example, let’s assume that you’ve installed WordPress in a folder such as “http://www.example.com/wordpress”, and you want to move it to the top level of the same site (“http://www.example.com”).Although WordPress has instructions on their web site explaining how to do this, we recommend that you follow our instructions instead:Before you move the files, login to the WordPress administration dashboard at the old location (e.g., “http://www.example.com/wordpress/wp-admin/”).Click Settings.Change the WordPress Address (URL) to the new URL that you want to use (e.g., http://www.example.com).Change the Site Address (URL) to the same value.Click Save Changes. You’ll probably see a “404 Not Found” errorpage because WordPress no longer knows it’s at the old location. This is normal and can be ignored. If you’re moving the WordPress files to a location that already contains an index file such as “index.html”, “index.htm”, or “index.php”, you’ll need to move or rename the old file so the web server sees the WordPress files. We recommend moving all the existing site files into a folder called something like files-before-wordpress-move, which will also prevent them from being visited via outdated sear...   WordPress Pages vs WordPress Posts, Common Sense, and SEO | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:02:55

Last modified:03/08/2021Read time:OpinionWhen you are in charge of a WordPress website – either updating it or producing content, or designing or developing – you come upon a major distinction: WordPress pages vs WordPress Posts. What does the difference come down to? Why is there such a separation? How do you use both types? Does it matter to the site SEO?If you are curious, then continue reading, as we have the answers to all of these questions plus some useful insight regarding WordPress pages, content, and posts.WordPress Pages vs Posts: Technical DifferencesIn WordPress CMS, Pages and Posts are the two main “post types”. That means they were not created equal. Technically compared, WordPress posts vs pages differ in the following ways:Static vs Dynamic Content – By definition, pages are static one-off publications while posts are chronologically listed entries.Publication Date – The publication date is of utmost importance for WordPress posts and they are organized by it. But publication time does not matter for pages and is irrelevant to how pages are organized on the site.Site Navigation vs News Feeds – WordPress pages are usually included in the site menu while posts are streamed on the blog page and in an RSS feed.Taxonomy – Only posts have categories and tags, pages don’t.Hierarchy – Only pages have a hierarchy – one page could be “a parent” to another, which shows up in the page URL (https://example.com/parent-page/child-page)Why Are There WordPress Posts and Pages?Probably the most important reason why there are two major post types is TIME: with information, time is of absolute importance. That is why you want to have content that is on your site for good and another that is added periodically. Everything else comes as a consequence and is related to how you organize content according to its purpose.Another explanation is related to WordPress origin as a blogging platform. With blogs, you need to post news periodically and that is your main reason for creating a blog. Even now, when WordPress is used for building websites of all type and size, the very first WordPress setting is whether the home pages show a static page or your latest posts.A choice of primary importance in the WordPress admin panel: Does your website open to the latest blog posts or to a static page?WordPress Posts vs Pages, and SEODo search engines make a difference between WordPress pages vs posts? The answer is very simple: NO, they do not. It is all content to them and the same indexing algorithm applies to both post types. However, there are other considerations that are related to the choice between pages and posts that eventually influe...   WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org: 10 Differences You Actually Need to Know | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:02:45

What is the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org? This is a common question that I get asked all the time. In fact, I had wondered the same thing a few years ago and unfortunately made the mistake of choosing the wrong one! I don’t want the same thing to happen to you, so I’ve compiled a detailed comparison of the two below. In this post, I will clearly lay out the differences between WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org, so that you are clear on which you should be using when creating your website. This post may contain affiliate links. Please see mydisclosurepage for more info1. HostingOne of the biggest differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org is that one is a hosted site while the other is self-hosted.What is hosting and why is this important?A host or web hosting service provider gives you a space for your website to live. When you sign up for hosting, you are essentially buying space on the Internet for people to visit your site.Just like you need a physical space to display your products and sell things in the real world, you need a physical space in the online world as well to store your files and code from your website.I like to think of hosting as the equivalent to renting or buying a physical storefront property, only the online cost is a lot cheaper!WordPress.com is a hosted siteA hosted website like WordPress.com allows you to build your website with their software AND provides you with space for your site to live for free.Sounds like a great deal, right? So why wouldn’t everyone pick this option?A hosted website comes with a lot of limitations, which I will discuss throughout this article.WordPress.org is a self-hosted siteWith self-hosting platformslike WordPress.org, you have to purchase your own hosting and domain. There is more of an upfront cost with WordPress.org, but it is very minimal in comparison to WordPress.com if you want to have customization options and flexible features.Self-hosted sites provide you with a lot more customization which we will get into*WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org – Winner for Hosting:WordPress.orgBlogging Business Bootcamp Free Course2. CostWordPress.com vs. WordPress.org is a bit more complicated when it comes to cost.WordPress.com:There is a free plan with WordPress.com, but it comes at the expense of a limit of 3GB of storage, WordPress ads on your site, and an unbranded domain name.As you upgrade you can get more features; however to get the customization options and flexibility of WordPress.org, it will cost you well over $200/year.WordPress.org:WordPress.org is open-source software that is free to use, but you must pur...   How to Create Links to Specific Spots in WordPress | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:02:51

You’ve probably been on a website before, clicked on a link, and instead of it taking you to another page, it simply took you to a different spot on the page.Or perhaps you’ve clicked on a link and it did take you to another page (or another site), but it didn’t put you at the top of the page. Instead, it put you at the top of a section somewhere down on the page. These types of links are called page jumps, and in this post, we’re going to go over how you can get them in WordPress. Two Basic PartsThere are two basic parts to apage jump:The linkThe targetThe link, of course, is the link that you click on. And the target is the spot where you end up on the page.A link for page jump looks like this:The 1970’sThe target looks like this:You’ll notice that in the href spot there is a hashtag (#) and then an identifier (1970s).In the target, there is no hashtag, but the identifier (1970s) is the same as in the link.In the target, you can have words in between the “a” codes if you like, but it’s not necessary. For example, these two targets are the same for all intents and purposes. A link pointed to them will go to where that target code begins. The Decade of the 1970sEasy Creation in WordPressIn WordPress, it’s pretty easy to create such page jumps.Simply go into the code (i.e. “Text”) panel of your editor, and then create a TARGET where you would like the link to jump to.In my example, I’m going to put it just above the title of a section on my page called “The Decade of the 1970s.”Next, while you could insert the code for the link in this same window, it’s easier if you switch back to the visual mode of your editor, then select the text (or image) you’d like to link and click the link icon as if you were making a regular link.Instead of putting in a URL, however, you’re going to put in the same target word that you put into your target code, EXCEPT you have to remember to add the hashtag before it.In my example, mine was “1970s,” so I’m going to put in #1970s. Then just save the link as you normally would. And then here’s where that link now jumps to – just above my section titled “The Decade of the 1970s.”By the way, when you’re in your visual editor, you should be able to see a tiny little link icon to show you where your target is.Jumping to the Spot on the PageWhen you click the link you’ve made and jump to the spot on the page that you want, you want to make sure that nothing gets cut off at the top of your page. That’s why I chose to put my target ABOVE in the title of my section instead of wrapping the target code around my title. In other words, I chose to...
