Tourcaster - Paris - Pere Lachaise Cemetery Audio Tour show

The world's most visited cemetery is also also the largest in Paris, and is located in the 20th arrondissement. The cemetery somewhat resembles a park, thanks to the architect who designed it and the multitude of artists who created incredible sculptural tombs and vaults. When it was first established by Napoleon, the cemetery was thought to be too far outside the city, so the administrators actually created a marketing plan. The remains of several famous people were transferred to Père-Lachaise, in hopes that the general population would jump at the chance to be buried next to a famous person. The plan worked, making it the largest cemetery in Paris today. This is track one of a multi-track tour, to download the entire tour, visit www.Tourcaster.com

The Ieper (Ypres) Salient was a constant focus of activity throughout the course of the Great War - "The war to end all wars". When one hears tales of trenches feet deep in water, and of soldiers struggling uphill through muddy quagmires, with enemy fire raining down upon them, Belgian Flanders epitomises the struggle. Here, muddy patches of barren treeless land were fought over, backwards and forwards for 4 years, with hardly any change in the line of the Western Front, but at massive human cost.

On these tours you will see what remains even after 90 years; trenches, craters, bunkers and of course cemeteries, which by nature of the decision made not to repatriate the dead, lie silently and peacefully at the then epicentre of the fighting. For anyone who has thought about visiting the Western Front to find out more, or needs to put what they know into perspective, these tours are a rare opportunity to do so and see for yourself, at your own pace.

Part 2 will continue the journey around the Messine Ridge where mine craters remain to bear silent witness to the terrible fighting in the area, visiting places such as Messine, Ploegsteert and the infamous Hill 60. It also visits the Staff Headquarters town of Poperinge (“Pop” in tommy parlance) and Talbot House – the original Toc H. Tourcaster - Italy - Venice - Ca' Rezzonico Palace Audio Tour show

Tourcaster - Italy - Venice - Ca' Rezzonico Palace Audio TourJoin Now to Follow

Great Discoveries audio tour of Ca Rezzonico provides today’s tourist with the most entertaining and informative way to visit this majestic 17th century palace. It is one of the few palaces in Venice permitting public insight into what lies behind the ornamental facades of the exquisite buildings lining the Grand Canal. To have a palace on the Grand Canal was in itself prestigious, but to have such a splendid and unusually large one constructed by Giorgio Massari and decorated by Giambattista Tiepolo was certainly distinctive. Today it is one of the finest museums in Venice, housing a wonderful collection of 18th century Venetian art. Because objects designed for great palaces are displayed in a palace setting, the contents and the building harmonize in a way impossible to duplicate in a purposely-built museum. Our carefully researched tour identifies and locates the most relevant works of art to ensure that you do not miss the important pieces and that you clearly understand each items artistic and historic significance.
