Summary: At a tavern in the village of Varna, a cutpurse, bounty hunter, and fortuneteller learn of great riches to be found in the city of Illyria. After assisting a local with a romantic dilemma, the treasure seekers travel south on a rutted, dirt road, eventually stopping at a wayside shrine. What they find there is perhaps even more precious than treasure.
