Myles Brennan retires from college football. What's next for the LSU QB competition?

Locked On LSU - Daily Podcast On LSU Tigers Football & Basketball show

Summary: Myles Brennan has had a long and difficult journey throughout his career at LSU. He was recruited by Les Miles and Cam Cameron, then came into his first year with Ed Orgeron and Matt Canada. Canada didn't do much for the LSU offense, so Orgeron brought in Steve Ensminger to lead the offense. When Ensminger decides to retire, Orgeron brought in a guy with college football and NFL experience in Jake Peetz to be OC. In 2022, LSU almost completely cleans house and Brennan was faced with his third head coach and fifth offensive coordinator in his sixth season at LSU. Not to mention, Brennan faced plenty of on-the-field adversity as well. He redshirted his freshman year and sat behind Joe Burrow in 2018 and 2019 and watched Burrow bring the program to new heights. When he finally got the starting gig in 2020, Brennan started three games before leaving the rest of the season with an abdominal injury. The next year, he'd be sidelined with a broken arm before he even got to take a snap in fall camp. Myles Brennan has dealt with some tough stuff. He could've left if he wanted to. He even could've quit a lot earlier if he wanted to. But after six years with the Tigers and a starting job seeming further and further away by the day, Brennan decided to amicably walk away from the team that his ridden with throughout his entire college career. With a fond "goodbye" and "wish you the best" to Myles Brennan, what's next for LSU at the QB position? The QB battle continues to unfold even without Brennan in the locker room, so Caroline Fenton breaks down the battle between Jayden Daniels and Garrett Nussmeier and how the coaching staff may approach the competition in fall camp and beyond.
