Weird Circle - The Goblet

Golden Classics Great OTR Shows show

Summary: #70. NBC syndication. "The Goblet". A bride-to-be falls in love with a strange silversmith. Toasting with wine takes on a more serious tone in this story as one man remembers his tragic past. Franchesca is of low birth yet Donaldo the governor of the island fell madly in love and showered her with gifts in her favored silver. Ferdinand the silversmith is a master craftsman who's work, it seems, embodies a strange lifelike quality...for this becomes the strange whimsy of beautiful Franchesca. The bitter recollections of his Excellency, Donaldo Ronaldi become more and more explicit until we learn of the true nature of this awful wine goblet and what fate lay before the unfortunate Franchesca.   The Weird Circle was a syndicated series produced in New York and licensed by Mutual, and later, NBC's Red network. For two seasons, it cranked out 39 shows (78 total) consisting mostly of radio adaptations of classic horror stories     The show's strength was stories from famous writers of the two genres, including Robert Lewis Stevenson, Victor Hugo, Edgar Alan Poe and even Charles Dickens. Most all of the stories came from the Victorian era or older. Shop for Classic Horror Shows
