Summary: After the election of President Barack Obama in 2008, many felt that a new era would be dawning. One in which all people would be free from certain oppressions that continued to plague the nation even after the civil revolution of the 60’s.  However, not soon after the inauguration, there seemed to be a shift in America’s racial terrain.  Today, the problems of racism are emerging in new and complex ways. People are now recognizing that racism has become a covert operation and is embedded in our institutions, our practices and our culture or is racism, covert racism, especially, related to how we as individuals come to perceive, evaluate and experience racial realities?  Why has the paradigm of racism shifted?  Why does it continue to prevail even in such a progressive and forward thinking society such as the great America?  How do we begin to change behaviors, actions and thinking?
