Real Talk Live 216 is asking you but more importantly AMERICA, Do we as a country and as AMERICANS SUPPORT BLACK-OWNED BUSINESS. Why do blacks have the greatest purchasing power but have the least amount of black owned business/support? Why do some Americans shop in their own communities placing profit and revenue back into their communiies while others do not? Why is their such a disparity between Black Owned Business compared to others?  We have often heard this saying IF IT AIN'T WHITE IT AIN'T RIGHT but what if there are more reason beyond race and color ask to the reasons why their is a lack of support fort black owned-business?  Real Talk Live 216 wants to have this conversation rather sooner than later. We all should support and partake in the AMERICAN DREAM and we all need to come together so this disparity and stereotypes can be changed. IS STARTS AND ENDS WITH US? It's time we change this mindset and get the American people and blacks to start supporting black business more.  I know we can't change this way of thinking over night but we can change one or maybe some by having one conversation at a time.  This show will talk about some of the issues but will finish off with the solutions (ways in which we  can support black business) It's time that black business like yours and others get the attention and spotlight in which they deserve. Thanksgiving can be difficult time, like any other holiday but there is always, always, always something to be THANKFUL for. Some of us are thankful for the opportunity to start over and for making it out of a miserable situation. For others, you may feel lke you've lost everything and there's not much to be thankful for. What is a father/daddy?  Is he a protector, a punisher, a provider?  Our hero?  Or is he just a grumpy old man who begrudging gives us money (sometimes).  I mean who is this man who helped give me life?  And why is he always telling me things i don't want to hear?  Or doing embarrassing things in front of complete strangers (he's not Kevin Hart, dang!) But you know, he did teach me how to drive (okay, he doesn't know that twice I snuck the car out).  And he did give me the money for my security deposit for my first apartment (okay, he loaned it to me.) The point is, good, bad or "I never want to lay eyes on him in life."  We all came here with a little help from our fathers. He may not be the one you want; BUT nevertheless...  So men, if you have helped bring a child into this world, raised a child or you are raising a child right now; you are a FATHER!  And we here at REAL TALK LIVE 216 are saying, "HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!" because every boy deserve and needs a Father and every girl needs a Daddy. You’re sitting quietly at home – waiting, again, for your husband or boyfriend to come through those doors.  Hopefully tonight he’ll come home before 3:00am and maybe he’ll even be sober. But alas, it’s 3:30am and you’re still awake lying in bed when the headlights finally illuminate the back yard. By this time you’re beyond frustrated and angry, again. But this time you decide that tonight will be the night you will leave for good!  As he walks into the bedroom, the smell of alcohol fills the air. “Hey are you awake?”,his words slurred and thick with drunkenness. You do not respond even though you are awake you don’t give him the satisfaction of knowing that his behavior has disrupted your peace. “I know you hear me. Get up. I want to talk to you.” He continues as his voice grows more and more insistent and more agitated with your non responsiveness. “Yes, I hear you, you idiot, I just don’t have anything to say to you” you finally blurt out.  Why did you say that? “Idiot” is all he heard and it is enough to trigger the monster that lives within him as he grabs you by your hair, drags you out of the bed and slams you against the wall two months later it’s the same situation all over again except this time instead of slamming you against the wall he almost puts you through the wall. You promised yourself that you were going to leave, why did you stay? Statistics show that domestic violence is a more common occurrence than society acknowledges. After the election of President Barack Obama in 2008, many felt that a new era would be dawning. One in which all people would be free from certain oppressions that continued to plague the nation even after the civil revolution of the 60’s.  However, not soon after the inauguration, there seemed to be a shift in America’s racial terrain.  Today, the problems of racism are emerging in new and complex ways. People are now recognizing that racism has become a covert operation and is embedded in our institutions, our practices and our culture or is racism, covert racism, especially, related to how we as individuals come to perceive, evaluate and experience racial realities?  Why has the paradigm of racism shifted?  Why does it continue to prevail even in such a progressive and forward thinking society such as the great America?  How do we begin to change behaviors, actions and thinking?

On Saturday May 3rd, 2012 at 7:30pm EST Real Talk Live 216 will be discussing one of the most talk about topics that you have probably shared or heard from with family, friends and that is your PAST.  Real Talk Live is posing this question to you and yours and that is "Everyone Has A Past But Does It Really Matter"? Special Studio Guest is Tanya Middleton, a licensed therapist and counselor  and Special Call In Guest is Josie Pickens a contributing columinist writer for Ebony Magazine. Ok I get it! This is someone 's personal business and it can get touchy, but wouldn't you want to know if a person had debt that couldn't allow them to  purchase a house in Beverly Hills? Or that they had a prison record, been married many times? Or that their father is schezophenic and the mother is bi-polar or how about their family having a alcohol problem? Or that they had 100 sexual partners, some of which they are still friends with? Do you want to know or not? Do you have the right to know or are you overstepping your boundaries? Also what types of information are dealbreakers? Should someone past have an expiration date?  When is the right time to have these discussions with a new person  Why do I need to disclose what's in my past when it's just that: IN MY PAST?
