1/3 Clutch Sports Radio – Redskins party like it 1999

E.Y.E.S. Radio Network show

Summary: The guys opened the show with a phone call from former Washington Redskins running back Ladell Betts. It’s playoff time! As Betts discussed the Redskins success and what this game means for the culture of the team as a whole and the fan base that hasn’t seen success like this for quite sometime. The guys went on to discuss their final fantasy football championship, Matt winning one and Stu winning in both leagues. Alfred Morris was the dark horse for Stu while DeAngelo Williams was the point leader for Matt. At 8:30 the guys were joined by Redskins defensive end Adam Carriker who joined the guys to talk about his holiday time and the Redskins playoff run. Carriker, went on to discuss what it feels like to finally become NFC East champions and how the team was able to string together this current winning streak. The guys went on to discuss how the Redskins will prepare for Seattle and got Carriker’s take on how the Redskins defense has stepped up recently and will be a huge part of the Redskins game plan against Seattle. Carriker discussed how cohesive the team has been with all the good play and great coaching that has come about this season as well as what the mindset is going into the match against Seattle. The Redskins are using the fact that they are underdogs at home as motivation to come out and stick it to a hot Seattle team. The guys went on to breakdown the enthusiasm going into the game against Seattle. Stu discussed his concerns for the fan base being more excited for a regular season game against the Cowboys rather than a home playoff game against the Seahawks. Matt and Darwin discussed how the fan base is hesitant to get excited only to possibly be let done, but that there is excitement nonetheless. Before the 9:00 hour the guys discussed their fears of losing parts of the Redskins coaching staff in the off season and how it may affect the psyche of the team and the success of the team going forward. The coaching carousel could draw Kyle Shanahan or Jim Haslett away from the team if they are pursued by a head coaching job, but if they are to leave will it affect the growth of this young team? In the 9:00 hour the guys were joined by Washington Redskins defensive end Kedric Golston to give his take on the Redskins and how the playoffs will shape up for the young team. Golston discussed how the Redskins have been preparing for the Seahawks high powered offense and what they have been doing to keep up the hype and intensity of the current winning streak. The guys asked Golston what his opinion is on starting off fast in the game against Seattle and what the goal is of the Redskins starting off the game. Seattle’s intensity on defense is definitely a focal point for the Redskins as Golston stressed it’s importance and how the offense needs to come out firing, but not getting too ahead of themselves in the first home playoff game since 1999. Golston chose his personal Rookies of the Year being Robert Griffin III and Alfred Morris as they have been an absolute catalyst for this team and have directly contributed to the success of the franchise this season. The guys went more in depth on the game against the Seahawks breaking down how dangerous the Seattle defense can be in the pass and the run. The Redskins must be explosive in the passing game in order to measure up to the running game from last week against Dallas. At 9:30 the guys discussed Robert Griffin III mic’d up session and what he said to Tony Romo about keeping his head up. After discussing the playoff the guys discussed what could happen if the coaching staff of the Redskins were to taking some of the head coaching jobs and if the coaches leaving will affect the future production of both sides of the ball. The Redskins have changed so much, is it finally time to keep things consistent? The NFC playoff picture was the next topic of conversation as the guys broke down who they believed would be the dark horse of the NFC playoffs,
