1/17 Recap from the Caps Fan Appreciation Event | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 28:44

---by Tom Block @tomcblock Packed crowds every day this week at Kettler could not compare to what the Verizon Center held this evening as the Washington Capitals officially kicked of their season in style with fan appreciation night. With a lower bowl that was just about filled and a concourse that was always packed with fans getting food, drinks, and face painting, you could feel the fans excited to see the team back on the ice. The team went through a variety of drills that aren't much different than what's run at Kettler, but it didn't matter. Fans got to watch some hard checks on the boards, shifty puck moves, and a squad that desperately wants to show it's ready to make a run for the Stanley Cup now under new Head Coach Adam Oates. They also got to hear from some of the players like Alex Ovechkin who said his favorite player was Dale Hunter (insert laugh track), Joel Ward about his Baltimore Ravens, and Troy Brouwer dancing "Gangem Style." Before all that took place, Washington Capitals majority owner Ted Leonsis met with reporters for the first time since the lockout ended (and really since June). Below are some of the questions that were asked with the full audio below. On what he thought of the CBA deal "I am thrilled with the deal. There was a lot of give and take on both sides. I'm very apologetic we lost the games but I'm not apologetic that we had to get a new system that was good for everyone and I think we achieved that" On the satisfaction on what he was able to contribute in the negotiations "But its mostly sitting at a table and listening and if I said 500 words in the 50 sessions total I attended that would be a exaggeration..... I'm not a hardliner. I wanted a 50-50 deal." On the end result and it helping the franchise "I have never made a penny of profit since owning the Washington Capitals. The system will help us get to break even. I hope to continue to grow the franchise and I hope we have a better TV deal." What did he learn about the lockout as an owner and a person "Say no when they ask you to be at the negotiating table. The business side of owning a team is really of no interest and should be hidden from the fans. Fans don't care about it and shouldn't care about it. Fans only care about the team, the experience, and can you win a championship." His thoughts on letting NHL players go to the Olympics "It's a player league. If the union and the players really want to go to the Olympics, we should let them. It's great for the league but the players should drive that. It was never brought up during the negotiations. If Alex wants to go to the Olympics, I'll be honest I'm going to let him go." In the audio Ted mentions how psyched Alex Ovechkin is with Adam Oates. He better be busting his tail this season because time is not on his side. It was great to hear how much work ethic Alex has put in so far in this shorten training camp and that he mentions how healthy Mike Green is. You've got a lot of components that have been with the squad for many years along side with some new pieces. Caps fans are in need of seeing a deeper run in the playoffs and it has to happen this season. After the press conference audio with Ted, enjoy the audio from Joel Ward and Tom Poti after the practice concluded.  1/17 Clutch Sports Radio – There’s something about T’eo | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2:00:44

Tonight the guys began the show talking about the crazy scandal involving Notre Dame’s Manti Te’o. The guys gave their take on what they think is the bottom line in the situation and the conspiracy theories that have been spiraling around the talented young linebacker. Does he know anything about the situation? Is he directly involved? Find out in this week’s episode! The guys came out of the break discussing the coaching carousel and where coaching are landing and what teams will benefit from the coaching changes and which ones will fall short based on the coaches that they chose to hire. Who did the guys pick as their coaches to succeed? Check out this week’s podcast for the answers! At 9:05pm the guys were joined by WUSA’s Kevin Jones @Mr_KevinJones to discuss the NFL playoffs and how unbelievable the games turned out to be. Jones broke down how the “hybrid” has changed the NFL and how they will become a cause for trouble at the end of these playoffs. The guys asked Jones what will be the deciding factor for who makes the Super Bowl, Jones discussed that we would be seeing a “HarBowl” between the Ravens and 49ers. Jones discussed “RGKnee” and his road to recovery, find out what he said on our podcast. Jones finished up talking about the Manti Te’o controversy and what he believes is the true story behind everything and if Te’o is guilty or not guilty. Check out Jones’ fiery interview in this week’s podcast. At 9:30pm the guys debated who they believe will win their playoff match-ups and how each scenario would look for each team in the Super Bowl. They all agreed that a Patriots and 49ers Super Bowl would be the best match-up for the league, but a Harbaugh coaching match-up would get the most media coverage. Hear their rant! Download the podcast! At 9:45pm Capitals beat reporter Sky Kerstein @SkyKerstein joined the guys to discuss the Capitals and how everything turned out at Fan Appreciation night at Verizon center tonight. Kerstein talked about the excitement of the fan base, the atmosphere inside the arena and how the team looked coming off of a few days practice implementing the new system. Kerstein discussed the expectations that Capitals fans should have with this shortened season and how the growing pains of a new system could affect how the Capitals progress this season. Check out Sky’s whole interview with the guys on their weekly podcast. Jon and Wilson discussed two controversial topics at the start of the show, Lance Armstrong and the Baseball Hall of Fame. The discussed the different sides or perspectives of Lance Armstrong's Career now that he's decided to come clean about his once "alleged" doping. That provided a great segway to the next topic, that being doping in Major League Baseball.  1/10 Clutch Sport Radio – The Doctor is in | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 58:04

On tonight’s Clutch Sports Radio guys blazed into the Redskins playoff loss against the Seattle Seahawks and the aftermath that followed the heartbreaking home loss. The guys all attended the game and broke down their experiences which included a one in a lifetime experience that Matt and Stu went through for the home game. The guys discussed the Griffin injury and how they felt when it happened and where the blame should lie and what is going to happen going forward. The discussion turned emotionally real as this injury has hit home and crushed Redskins fans hope and their fandom going forward. Griffin’s rehab is going to be difficult, but should he play next season if he is cleared? Who is to blame? What will the Redskins do going forward? The guys were joined at 9:20pm by Dr. Ray Solano who is a sports medicine expert who joined everyone to talk about the RG3 knee injury. Dr. Solano discussed the recovery and rehab of Griffin’s knee and the length it may take for him to be back to 100%. He then broke down what this second ACL injury mean for the future of Griffin’s career and how the second surgery will be a rigorous recovery and could possibly cause him to lose a step or not necessarily look like himself. Dr. Solano @DrRaySolano then discussed what it mean to be “medically cleared” and the evaluation that Griffin will have to pass in order to get back onto the field and what might take the longest for getting Griffin cleared from a football standpoint. He then put himself into Dr. Andrews shoes and discussed what he would do if he were in charge of Griffin’s health and what path he would follow in order to preserve his first injury. The last segment ended with the guys discussing who to blame and when Griffin should make his comeback and how this whole situation should be handled. Everyone agreed that there needs to be an improvement in team and league practices for handling these injuries and how everything should be handled from here on out. The guys closed with their predictions for the divisional playoff games and who they see moving on to the championship round. Join the guys every Thursday from 8pm-10pm LIVE on www.clutchsportsradio.com and www.eyesradio.com and follow them on Twitter @DarwinSports @MattyIce703 and@TheStuMiller!!!

The Locker is ready for hockey | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 24:54

---by @tomcblock There's just not a more dynamic duo in the Washington DC area than Joe Beninati and Craig Laughlin when they are calling a caps game for CSN Washington. With the NHL lockout officially (close enough) over and a 48 game schedule set to get started on January 19th, Craig was more than happy to spend 25 minutes with me to discuss the upcoming season for the Washington Capitals. Listen to Craig talk about: Who takes the blame for this lockout? Players or the Owners? And why did it take so long? His thoughts about owners especially Ted Leonsis for taking such a hard line stance. With a 48 game season and a brand new coaching staff, what are the greatest challenges this team faces The Capitals lost five notable pieces in the off season. Who will the team miss the most? The Capitals added four players to the team, so who has the most upside? The reports regarding Nicklas Backstrom being hurt are out there. How much time could he be gone and how that affects the team Mike Green has been known for his injuries. Craig talks about his expectations on him. There are three key pairings on defense, so who does Craig think will thrive the best in the Adam Oates system? Are the days of a true enforcer dead? Does Craig think Oates will make one? Will Oates make a move to put Ovi more on the right side? This team has many players with years of experience who should be playing at their prime. What happens if this season falls well below expectations? Chalk it up to the lockout or will heads roll? Catch Lunchtime with The Locker: The Craig Laughlin show Wednesday's starting on January 30th from noon until 2pm.  You can download the audio below from the website, iTunes, or the Stitcher Radio app.

 1/3 Clutch Sports Radio – Redskins party like it 1999 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2:03:36

The guys opened the show with a phone call from former Washington Redskins running back Ladell Betts. It’s playoff time! As Betts discussed the Redskins success and what this game means for the culture of the team as a whole and the fan base that hasn’t seen success like this for quite sometime. The guys went on to discuss their final fantasy football championship, Matt winning one and Stu winning in both leagues. Alfred Morris was the dark horse for Stu while DeAngelo Williams was the point leader for Matt. At 8:30 the guys were joined by Redskins defensive end Adam Carriker who joined the guys to talk about his holiday time and the Redskins playoff run. Carriker, went on to discuss what it feels like to finally become NFC East champions and how the team was able to string together this current winning streak. The guys went on to discuss how the Redskins will prepare for Seattle and got Carriker’s take on how the Redskins defense has stepped up recently and will be a huge part of the Redskins game plan against Seattle. Carriker discussed how cohesive the team has been with all the good play and great coaching that has come about this season as well as what the mindset is going into the match against Seattle. The Redskins are using the fact that they are underdogs at home as motivation to come out and stick it to a hot Seattle team. The guys went on to breakdown the enthusiasm going into the game against Seattle. Stu discussed his concerns for the fan base being more excited for a regular season game against the Cowboys rather than a home playoff game against the Seahawks. Matt and Darwin discussed how the fan base is hesitant to get excited only to possibly be let done, but that there is excitement nonetheless. Before the 9:00 hour the guys discussed their fears of losing parts of the Redskins coaching staff in the off season and how it may affect the psyche of the team and the success of the team going forward. The coaching carousel could draw Kyle Shanahan or Jim Haslett away from the team if they are pursued by a head coaching job, but if they are to leave will it affect the growth of this young team? In the 9:00 hour the guys were joined by Washington Redskins defensive end Kedric Golston to give his take on the Redskins and how the playoffs will shape up for the young team. Golston discussed how the Redskins have been preparing for the Seahawks high powered offense and what they have been doing to keep up the hype and intensity of the current winning streak. The guys asked Golston what his opinion is on starting off fast in the game against Seattle and what the goal is of the Redskins starting off the game. Seattle’s intensity on defense is definitely a focal point for the Redskins as Golston stressed it’s importance and how the offense needs to come out firing, but not getting too ahead of themselves in the first home playoff game since 1999. Golston chose his personal Rookies of the Year being Robert Griffin III and Alfred Morris as they have been an absolute catalyst for this team and have directly contributed to the success of the franchise this season. The guys went more in depth on the game against the Seahawks breaking down how dangerous the Seattle defense can be in the pass and the run. The Redskins must be explosive in the passing game in order to measure up to the running game from last week against Dallas. At 9:30 the guys discussed Robert Griffin III mic’d up session and what he said to Tony Romo about keeping his head up. After discussing the playoff the guys discussed what could happen if the coaching staff of the Redskins were to taking some of the head coaching jobs and if the coaches leaving will affect the future production of both sides of the ball. The Redskins have changed so much, is it finally time to keep things consistent? The NFC playoff picture was the next topic of conversation as the guys broke down who they believed would be the dark horse of the NFC playoffs,
